Everything in the hotel was up to the standard of what it claims to be, food, pools, rooms, all great. However, the reason for my 3* rating is only for the way my booking was handled during check-in and customer treatment for what the Princess Yaiza claims to be (5*L Hotel). My booking was through loveholidays, it had a printed confirmation of garden/terrace/pool view. I received what they supposedly call a 'garden', my room was facing a pathway connecting the beach to the main road, and there was a couple of palm trees. That by no means is a garden, in any world. When I asked for the pool/sea view, initially I was informed the hotel was over-booked and there was no availability which quite frankly and visibly was a complete bluff since the hotel was half empty but then once I asked again, I was given a tour of the room and then asked to pay an extra €60/night for the view that I had initially made the booking with. From other reviews, the hotel seems to be regarded for its hospitality and customer service but being asked to pay for something I had the booking for was pathetic. Some individuals claim to have gotten a free upgrade, the hotel even tried to sell me the presidential suite upon check-in saying it would be better for the family at an extra €300/night. Quite simply, something like this can ruin a holiday because you intend to have something but when you don't receive it and are then asked to pay extra when the hotel is already quite expensive then it just shows that they don't care about their customers.
We went for Christmas on half board. Excellent food choices generally, great buffet breakfast and dinner and a great gala dinner on Christmas day. Very comfortable beds and the suite was fantastic. Very nice toiletries provided in the bathroom. Could have done with some instant coffee sachets as they only provide coffee pods got the machine provided.
