The Maroma is a beautiful, tranquil property. From our initial warm and cultural greeting, to the very end, I do not believe I have experienced service like this before. The staff is very friendly and genuine. If they make a cocktail for you, they explain the ingredients and the history behind it. We never felt that it was crowded in any space on the property. There was no need to ”save” umbrellas or chairs at any point. The property feels very private and serene, not like a chain hotel. We would love to visit again.
The service was in place, the four staff members were greeted by the car, the local Margaret cocktail, the interface wipes were handed in, and the check-in was directly in the room, which was very silky. The hotel area is large and some need golf carts to pick up and drop off. The room is out on Marouma Beach, the white sand beach of the Caribbean and the green blue ocean. The hotel is very original, deep in the jungle, see the red-brown South American raccoon

Our stay was beautiful, I will not deny that. However it was not without a few letdowns. I am a woman who is all about a pool and was so excited to swim in the absolutely gorgeous pool I saw in all the photos online. I visited the week of Jan 1- Jan 7th and the weather was quite warm about 75 degrees every day. HOWEVER, the pool was absolutely FREEZING to the point where I was shivering being in it. Felt like an ICE BATH :( It was not enjoyable and with this being a secluded/ all inclusive hotel there weren't very much other forms of entertainment during the day except for the pool and the beach (the water was warm at the beach). It was so disappointing. I called the front desk to ask if anything could be done but they stated was no pool heater/temperature adjuster. We paid about 4 grand total for this trip and to be completely honest were only able to enjoy the pool once. My next complaint comes to the beach. We went to the beach which gets pretty bus. There was a day where every single chair was full and two of the hotel cabanas were being taken over by random street vendors - taking away two spots for the guests from the 100% packed beach area. These guys were NOT a part of the hotel and are the vendors who go around trying to sell cigars, etc. I watched the staff pass by them multiple times and say nothing while ACTUAL GUESTS had nowhere to lounge by the beach. That was very disappointing as these guys were laughing loudly, staring at guests, and did not move as people walked by looking for chairs. Other than that I will admit that the food was great, the staff was super nice, the hotel grounds were IMPECCABLE, the rooms were nice, everything else was quite lovely. But for the reasons listed I will not be staying at this all inclusive again, although you can still make the most of it and have a lovely experience overall. I'd recommend a stay if you're not going for the main reason of enjoying the pool and the beach.

Service and food were excellent. The property was spotless. The only problem we had was they put us in a building with construction noise and we asked to move, which we did. Also, the rooms are very automated, and the air conditioning sensor didn't work properly. Otherwise, everything was excellent. Food was great and had no problems getting a table. They do close one restaurant each night, so make sure you find out which ones are closed during your stay. Also, we loved the piano bar with the specialty drinks, but the piano was extremely out of tune. It sounded like a cheap saloon in a western movie. Sad considering the piano player was very good. Overall we would go back again and probably will.

The adult pool at the grande was awesome. Anabel & Carla went above & beyond to take care of us. They both deserve recognition. We saw Ruben at a few different places. He was the best. Can’t wait to come back to have him as a bartender. Viviana was so professional. She did everything she could to make our stay enjoyable. We had a few flaws, but she took care of them right away. Salvatore also made the stay enjoyable. He kept in contact w/ us to make sure we were all ok. Such a gentleman. Overall it was a great week w/ amazing staff. 👍🏼👍🏼 to the Moon Palace!!
Everything is great, and I will come here again! We had fun in the water park and regretted that couldn't have more time to play in it. The tours recommended by the hotel staff are also very good, and our children like them very much.

Just got back from a 5 day trip at El Dorado Royale with the more inclusive package! I definitely enjoyed my time there and would recommend it to others. We did book through a travel agent to make the process of booking more easier on ourselves Plenty of pools throughout the resort to swim in or lounge by. Sometimes seating could be tough as it was first come first serve. People tend to leave their towels on their chairs when they’re finished with it so it made it hard to judge whether the seats were actually occupied or not. The beds by the pool you have to rent out in advance for an additional cost. We were able to get seats everyday probably based off luck but also saw others struggling to find a spot at times. Usually if you can’t find a spot by the pool there would be one open on the beach The beach was nice to lay out on. The chair situation is the same as the pool, first come first serve and you have to rent the beds out prior. However it was a little less crowded than the pool when we were there so easier to find seating. The beach itself to go in the ocean was not the best as it is a rocky area and lots of seaweed in the water (just a location issue). We chose to go to the Maroma Beach Club as well as snorkeling there which was included in the more inclusive package and worth it The food was good!! Plenty of options to choose from for what type of cuisine you want. Small portions but hey-you can order more than one thing. Breakfast and lunch you’re able to walk in anywhere without a reservation. If you want to go to a restaurant for dinner you just need to make a reservation through the app. I would recommend making a reservation for every night that your there on the first day you get there as spots can fill up fast. The only down side of dinner is that alcohol was not included and did cost extra. I’m not sure if this is just to have a faster turn over for seatings or what. Not a huge deal but kinda a bummer. The staff was so friendly and as helpful as they could be. My only con was they put us in one room number while it was listed differently in their computer system. Made the initial room service difficult as well as trying to check out. Nothing major but not as smooth as I would like. The rooms were fine. We stayed in the cheapest one as we knew we would not be spending much time in there. Nothing fancy but nothing to complain about. The room was cold and the blanket was thin but we were able to be sent extra blankets the next day when we asked My biggest con was that the app was not super user friendly and took some patience. It will work-just takes some time. But they should try to upgrade it in the future for a more user friendly interface. A second con was there was a screaming match outside of our room one night. My friend called security and it took them about half an hour to get there (yes the screaming was still happening when security arrived). Obviously loud guest aren’t a fault of the resort but I felt like 30 m
My husband and I went here for our anniversary and it was horrible. I’d give it negative stars if I could and I currently am demanding a refund for how poorly it was. We have been in contact with the hotel and they are blaming us for our bad experience not themselves. We stayed there last week my husband and I for our anniversary. It was by far the worst experience ever. We booked through cheap Caribbean who had been in contacted with you and you have given them a poor excuse for a reason not to refund us. First we went there for our anniversary and leading up to the trip I was emailing the hotel about what we can be provided with for our occasion and it was stated since we didn’t book through El Dorado site directly they could not provide us with anything. When we got to the resort the front staff told us we needed to download an “app” and book our dinner reservations. When we tried to book there was nothing available. When there was something available it was at 9:45 at night and if we missed it we couldn’t walk into any other place for dinner. The concierge (hilgerbo) ( located at building 3) tried to make us dinner reservations and also saw that everything was booked or it was late times. I also told him my father is a member and the reason why we booked through another site was because it was cheaper. He went to his manager to ask if there was anything we could get for our anniversary or because we paid a cheaper price on a different site and his manager stated” no they didn’t book through us so we will not provide anything.” Every night we had to order room services with a limited menu. The tub did not work properly in the room and there was construction going on on the resort which was always loud and never seems to stop through the night. The entertainment staff never announced anything going on accept for volleyball. There was tyedye one day and when I went up to do it they said it started at 2pm and they only had 10 shirts. ( I was in the pool and did not know the time. It was 2:30 when I went up) There were several times we went to complain to the concierge but they were never at the desk. If they are supposed to work from 8-4 or 10-6 then they should be there besides their lunch breaks. But no one was there till 6 or 4. Everytime I went there no one was there. On our last night we tried to find a place to eat and no restaurant would accept us as a walk in. They stated they had to wait for their reservations to come first. Every single restaurant was empty! We finally went up to the front desk where we spoke to Yael who stated “ no one obviously explained how to use the app” he tried to say because it was only entered as “412” and not 0412. That’s why we could do anything. When we continued with our complaints all he said is” well you can go to generations to eat and we will look into everything else.” At least at generations the staff was polite and welcoming and we could eat breakfast at the palms. This is a poor way

The resort is absolutely beautiful, stunning actually, a mix of modern architecture and Tulum-inspired touches. Both of our rooms were light and airy, giving spa vibes. The beach is perfectly white, uncrowded and quiet (re: no one trying to sell you anything). Another pro was that the service was outstanding. From housekeeping to the poolside staff, everyone was lovely and attentive. Even over Thanksgiving week, it did not feel crowded and there were plenty of employees to meet our every need. Although we had a wonderful time, there were several cons that may prevent us from going back. While we really enjoyed the peace and quiet, we felt quite isolated from sightseeing, sundries, and snacks. The first day we taxied to town just to get cream for our in-room coffee ($10 coffees at the pool bar) and snacks because every restaurant felt like fine dining (at least the price was), and sometimes you just want low-brow. Our cheapest meals were our poolside lunches for $200+/- (4 adults, quesadillas and guacamole and Diet Pepsis, no alcohol). We ended up cancelling all of our dinners onsite and taxied to town to enjoy local sights and food. Similarly, we were shocked to learn the resort holds $300 per person per day for incidentals. After seeing the food and alcohol prices, I suppose we could have gotten there but holding $9600K is crazy. The woman next to us at check-in paid the same for her two and four year olds. And, this policy is NOT anywhere on the site or in our reservation. This really irked us.
Incredible property. Easy access from CUN, secluded/safe with highly attentive staff and wide arrange of amenities. Traveled with two large families and felt that the resort accommodated our joint party of 10 for meal seating, pool/beach cabana reservations and excursion planning at A+ levels. The 2 bedroom Edition Suites are top-notch; incredible design, views and comfort. Huge value over adjoining St. Regis property, with nearly identical rooms/amenities at reduced booking rates (+ the Edition was much quieter during our stay). This will be a top 10% Caribbean Mexican Resort in the next 12 months as more reviews/experience is spread....

Disappointing, in a nutshell. We'll never go back. *Disclaimer: I am a food professional and I expect food to be served properly* Several restaurants, but they're open/closed at different times so the variety you're being sold on isn't always available and it's confusing at first to know where you can find a meal aside from the buffet and cafe. We had a very difficult time getting reservations at any of the dinner places they have on site. Platinum level guests didn't seem to struggle as much with reservations. We ate at Kobo once, it was good, but they reused the chopstick holders without washing them between guests at dinner sittings. (Eew). The cafe had really good lattes and offered multiple types of milk as well as cold sandwiches all day. I got really bad food poisoning on night 3 having never left the property. No one at the front desk offered help to my husband when he came down asking for it. We found out later from a friend back home that there is a medical clinic on-site. Dr. Ana had to come to our room and provide IV fluids and antibiotics. She was awesome. Our Insurance was needed for payment. The hotel never checked on us to see if we were ok or if I was any better. I was sick for the remaining 4 days, we missed our pre-paid excursions. Our room was skipped for housekeeping twice and our mini fridge was only refilled twice the entire week. Otherwise, housekeeping did a good job when they were there. The pools and spas were beautiful, but filthy. There was a scuz ring around the edge of the big pool and when someone pointed out to staff one day that something in the water *may* have been vomit, noone came back to clean it. The spa in the adult pool was disgusting. The food was well below average. It was the same food every day, just served slightly differently. LOTS of carbs. Nothing was seasoned properly or it was drowning in sauces. The pizza was undercooked and the dough still raw below the sauce. Fresh fruit every day was good. Breakfast at the ”French” restaurant (not really French at all, even at dinner) was decent but the line for fresh eggs or omelettes was really long. Room service was the *worst* I've ever had. The American burger wasn't 100% beef... Not really sure what it was. The chicken ciabatta had the tiniest flat chicken cutlet I've seen served to an adult or child. The Bolognese had zero seasoning and the pasta was undercooked. Puerto Morelos is a tiny town, but offered a little shopping. The people there were lovely. Unfortunately, it's $100 round trip for a taxi to either of the larger shopping cities, Playa del Carmen or Cancun. So the location isn't very good if that's what you're after. There weren't enough umbrella covered lounge chairs at the pools so sunburn becomes an even larger issue. Try the Ha, we were more successful with quiet and shade at their pool. Beware the mosquitos at night! They come out in swarms! Overall, a terrible experience and not worth what w

The experience on this hotel was absolutely amazing. Beautiful suites, delicious food and very nice staff. This is our second time in this place. Activities are very good specially the bike tour every morning. Overall our stay was beautiful. Special thanks to Gabriel Mendez for being our designated driver we made a beautiful friendship since the first time we were there he is very kind and educated definitely the best golf car driver. I would like to mention Abraham from the ruf top pool, he went above and beyond to make us beautiful drinks also very educated and fun to be around with. Last but not least Alfredo O. the pool waiter for his kindness and his love for us, for going above and beyond to serve us, we are also friends ever since we went there the first time. Please congratulate them for their beautiful service in you hotel. We are already planning our next trip and staying in this beautiful place Ventus Ha’

The hotel is elegant and well looked after/clean. The rooms were very clean and spacious with balcony and sea view. All the staff are very attentive, friendly and work hard to make your stay as pleasant and relaxing as possible. Esteban, who works at the pool, went above and beyond to make our stay extra special. So kind and attentive - a true gem of a person. I did not try the spa but everyone I spoke to said the massages were out of this world and the spa must have been beautiful and serene. The food we had at the hotel was outstanding. Pool food, breakfast, lunch and dinners were all delicious and plentiful (we attended a corporate event but food was provided by the hotel). Overall, our few days at the Waldorf Astoria in Cancun was a very positive experience.
This is a luxurious and private hotel. Highly recommended for those who want to enjoy a quiet staycation and relax. It feels like a lot of care was put into each and every object, starting from the marble floor. But as you know... food and drinks in the hotel are quite expensive. However, the quality of the free activities is much better than that of the Hilton right next door, so we recommend taking full advantage of the activities. In particular, yoga outdoors while watching the sunrise at 7 a.m. remains one of my best memories! Plus, the spa facilities and massages are of the highest quality, so I recommend you try them. There is a separate space and pool that only spa users can use, and it is really beautiful....

Food was well above average for dinner. Waiters are all very attentive and made very good recommendations to our party. Breakfast and lunch not very good. Recommend ordering off the menu, not buffet. Gym facilty is the best I've seen in my travels. Staff needs to keep people from hogging certain high demand equipment. Second gym at the Grand was also good for high demand times. Beach is just okay, but the pools are beautiful and drink service can't be beat. All top shelf liquor, some minor complaints from other travelers about beer selection. Hotel in great shape, parking was not well organized and entertainment was average.

This place is so amazing. Perfect spot for families and to get away from all the fast pace of life. Definitely a spot we will be returning to. The food was delicious, the service was out of this world. The concierge Liza was great and the kids club was so nice to have for the kids they loved it. The Five Oceanfront was a pleasant surprise for my wife and me. We typically stay at larger all-inclusive resorts and specifically wanted to try a smaller one. My wife found this by Googling the top resorts in the area, and their larger resort in Playa was on the list, and she found this one by visiting the larger resort’s website. I don’t write many reviews, but when I do, they are detailed; I am particular about a lot of things and appreciate when others write with the same level of detail. We booked a trip for February, but a non-COVID illness forced us to delay the trip. The staff easily accommodated our request to push the trip out 3 weeks with no additional charges. Our visit was 3/18-3/25/21. We were greeted by a modern and stylish entrance. The resort is at the end of the road, with an undeveloped resort property next door. The “front desk” is a large wood table that, from our balcony, looks like the state of Texas, and is similarly large. “Live edge” wood tables are all over the place and in our room. We were on an all-inclusive package (optional at this resort and apparently, is available on a day-by-day basis), and our bracelets were colored string with a logoed wood tile (think Scrabble tile) with an RFID chip on the back for access to our floor and room. That was a nice touch compared to resorts that have plastic color-coded bracelets. The package included a chilled bottle of sparkling wine and a plate of fruit and chocolates in the fridge. 3 of each of these were stocked in the fridge each day: 3 kinds of soda, Sparling water, Heineken and Dos Equis beers. Still bottled water was also in the fridge (think glass coke bottles with water). We reserved a one-bedroom suite. The room was fitted out with a 5-cup drip coffee maker, a 2-burner cooktop, a combo microwave/toaster, and full-size fridge/freezer combo. A 65” (?) Samsung TV was in the family room and also in the bedroom. Unfortunately, the hotel software controlled the TV and changing inputs or using apps was not possible. That would have been nice for the couple of evenings we were in the room early. The living area had modern furniture, exactly as pictured on the website. Our balcony had two cushioned chaise lounges and a two-person jetted tub. The bathroom had double sinks, and a walk-in shower that had the best rainfall shower head we’ve ever had. Many places try, and most fail in providing nice fixtures and decent water pressure. Robes and disposable slippers were also provided. Plenty of room to unpack 2 full-size suitcases and store them out of the way. The sliding doors between the bedroom and living space were quiet to operate, heavy, and thick. This provided a good barrier for me to rise early and get some work done before my wife. I didn’t test the speed of the included Wi-Fi but it was plenty fast for the large files I access online for work. The wi-fi worked seamlessly anywhere on premise and out into the ocean (I only know this because I was receiving texts o
