This is a pleasant, modern and airy hotel in downtown Chicago. We enjoyed our stay very much, but didn't eat in the hotel (apart from one snack in the bar), so I can't comment on the cuisine. The room was a good size, spacious and comfortable, with an excellent modern en-suite shower and toilet. The bed was large and very comfortable and every night afforded us a good night's sleep. What was particularly notable was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, in particular the concierge (Ramon), who guided us through the available sights and eateries in Chicago, which saved us considerable time in research. Chicago is a fascinating city, with all the modernity and dynamism of Manhattan, but without the grit or the slightly abraisive denizens of that island. We found all Chigacoans we encountered to be pleasant and engaging. However, Chicago is built on two levels, the lower level being under all the main roads that are elevated and therefore walking anywhere in the lower section is far less pleasant than on the upper section. I mention this because the main entrance to the Gwen hotel is on the lower level so when you exit onto the street it's advisable to climb the stairs around the corner to go up to 'street level'. Also, if you're not going to the hotel by taxi but by public transport (as we did) you'll have to carry your luggage down the stairs from the upper level where the bus stops. Additionally, the arrangement of the lifts in the hotel is a little irritating (and confusing to start with) because the lift from the main entrance doesn't go to the levels where the bedrooms are. The main reception is on the fifth floor so you have to go to reception and then walk to another bank of lifts that take you onward to the bedrooms and conference rooms. The Gwen seems to be a business hotel first and foremost and so there is a lot of activity and many people in the building for conferences and exhibitions. The terrace area by the bar affords a pleasant view of the cityscape, but there are two huge TV screens that perpetually show sport, so many of the guests on the terrace are there to watch a game. However it seems that there is no public place in Chicago that doesn't have TV screens on all the time, showing sport (the city seems to be obsessed with sport). Every restaurant we went to had multiple screens on, even high-end establishments. To a Brit this is weird because its only pubs and bars in my country that have these intrusive, mind-numbing displays. We enjoyed our stay at the Gwen and can recommend it for a pleasant stay as a tourist. its location is good for reaching many parts of the city and public transport is cheap and extensive. If we return to Chicago we will definitely book to stay there again.

I’ve stayed here around 15 times in last 2 years. I travel to Chicago a lot for work and it’s the only hotel I will try. The staff is amazing. Luigi at registration desk is so sweet, helpful and connected. He provides the best information and always accommodates my needs. The food is so good and I love getting room service for breakfast. The Gwen burger is so yummy. The rooms are beautifully designed and the mattresses feel like a magic spell potion is on them. I sleep so well. Best location for shopping and restaurants. Easy to stroll around for exploring and getting coffee or lunch.

Positives: - The concierge (Michel Battaglin) is amazing! We are so grateful for all of his help during our one night stay. We were very kindly upgraded to an amazing room to ensure that we had connecting rooms with our kids. - The rooms are fantastic. Modern / clean and beautiful views of the river / Navy Pier. - The pool is very family friendly. Many kids and warm enough for parents. This was a very fun experience for our kids. One of the best hotel pools in the city of Chicago. - Tre Dita was good. Not amazing, but very solid. Very family friendly. Negatives: - We parked with the valet at the hotel. When we picked up our car the next day, the car had been hit in the back. We notified the valet service who was helpful in taking pictures and filing the claim. However, the valet service insurance company claims that they are not responsible with no further detail (picture of the damage attached). This is now $2,000-$3,000 damage to our car with no ramification. We would have been better off parking in a Spothero self-parking lot near the hotel. Lesson learned. - Breakfast at Miru is ok. It is not a traditional breakfast or buffet. This makes it harder for kids. We will likely be back, but will avoid the valet at all costs.
What can I say it’s the Regis. This is one for the books. The epitome of understated luxury from the welcoming hotel staff to the doormen. We were impressed of how much effort the hotel put into making sure the staff knew their guests well. It’s my hubby’s golden birthday and the hotel did not disappoint from the complimentary room upgrade to the complimentary welcome amenities. Very impressive. Will definitely stay again.

I made this trip with my mother to run the Chicago marathon and again I was welcomed with all the care and attention by the amazing team of the Peninsula. The hotel is fantastic, the accommodation is super spacious, modern and comfortable. The hotel is located in Chicago, along with a complete spa, heated swimming pool and jacuzzi, a SUV service with driver, a courtesy to guests (a 2-mile radius from the hotel). I would like to give a special thank you to Christina Subida, who was spectacular with us in all senses.

The service attitude at the front desk was extremely poor. We had confirmed a day in advance that we could check in a little earlier, but when we arrived, we were made to wait in the lobby for more than an hour. After checking out, I called and complained, and the result was nothing. I always chose the Peninsula when I came to Chicago, and there is a high probability that I will not choose this hotel again in the future.

I stayed with my mother-in-law for mother's day this May. I heard so many good things about this hotel brand but never had a chance to try. Everything was gorgeous and luxurious except for the swimming pool. I loved the decorations of the hotel lobby. Looked so much high class just like I expected from The Ritz-Carlton. This was my first stay at The Ritz-Carlton hotel and I really enjoyed it. I got 20% off from the restaurant due to my platinum status. Food was delicious and price was reasonable but I wouldn't say it blew my mind. Gym was very spacious with lots of equipment. Some areas even have lake view. Pool was okay size with lanes but didn't feel luxurious pool at all. I couldn't get room upgrade to lake view but they gave me room #1902 and it had both city and lake view. The receptionist said that they do not count under 20th floor as lake view but my room had a fantastic lake view. You will need to ask them to give you 19th floor room facing lake so you could enjoy both city and lake view. I highly recommend this room if you want luxurious staycation. This was my first stay at The Ritz-Carlton but certainly will not be the last one!

This is why I’m a Ritz girl! My first visit to the Chicago Ritz was in December 1983 during a blizzard. After a horrific day of travel my father insisted that we stay there. The Ritz is still my favorite refuge. It’s spiffed up its appearance since my last stay in 2013. The lobby’s fountain is gone but the hotel’s opulence remains. I especially liked the redesign of the rooms. Mine had a chaise lounge perfect for taking in a great view of Lake Michigan and Chicago’s skyline. How I love a Ritz bathroom; double vanity, soaking tub and a walk-in shower all in white marble. The bathrooms felt in a little boxy in 2013. My only gripe was that there were no samples to bring home. The staff did an amazing job making you feel taken care of especially at the bar and restaurant. The front desk could have been a smidge more accommodating and friendly. Prior to booking I read a review criticizing the hotel for their affiliation with Equinox. The reviewer said they woke up to bar bells being dropped on their ceiling. The only Equinox on Michigan Avenue is several blocks away from the hotel. I’m looking forward to my next stay at this wonderful place.

I had a very good experience staying at this hotel. First of all, the hotel room is very comfortable, the bed is neat and clean, and it provides me with a good sleeping environment. In addition, the hotel's facilities are also very complete, including free high-speed Wi-Fi, air conditioning, mini bar, etc., which met all my daily needs. The hotel's restaurant is also great, providing a wide variety of food options, allowing me to enjoy delicious dining services during my stay. More importantly, the hotel's staff have a very good service attitude, are enthusiastic and considerate, and solved various problems I encountered. Overall, I am very satisfied with my stay in this hotel.

Very good location. The hotel is nearby skydeck and we walk there to save time and parking fee. Besides the lounge is good. But it's closed during weekends that I don't understand the reason. We use suite coupon to get a corner luxurious suite which is really huge, especially the main bathroom. Overall I recommend the hotel for Bonvoy high level members.

The small fridge in the room automatically shuts off after 2 hrs and doesn't stay at a safe temperature to store breast milk. The front desk advised to just use an ice bucket. This is problematic because (1) you will have to continually refill the ice bucket and (2) there is limited capacity. After an escalation to the manager, they offered to hold my milk behind the front desk in their fridge. I am not comfortable with that ”solution” nor do I want to go back and forth to the front desk for my baby's bottles and milk storage. He advised they previously provided medical fridges but they currently do not do so. I am so beyond disappointed. I expected so much more from this brand and now have to figure out something to do with my milk for my exclusively breast fed baby. Ugh, don't they have mother's stay at this property!? Marriott, do better!

I feel that the room is not as comfortable as the Trump's opposite, and the soundproofing is not good. It is a bit noisy at night, but the hotel's service is particularly good!

The bed was literally the most comfortable I've stayed in the US. very quiet. But don't choose the side of the train tracks. The steak 🥩 upstairs is also very good, and the waiters are very nice Please tell them that they need cleaning every day when you check in, otherwise there will be only turndown service when you come back. This is the only thing that makes me feel unsatisfied

The facilities are first-rate, the public security is good, and the circuit load of the newly built hotel is good. The day before, a hotel next door with the same price had unstable voltage when a hair dryer was plugged in. The price is several hundred yuan more expensive than the same five-star hotel. The room area is much larger, and it is equipped with a microwave oven, induction cooker, and oven. If I come to Chicago again, I will vote for Trump.

I was here for a business meeting so I did not get a chance to do any sight seeing, but the hotel is in a great location and easy to get to from the airport. My room was extremely clean, comfortable and quiet. The food was very good and so was their coffee. But best of all were the team members who work here. Everyone was extremely nice and knowledgeable and gave me some good tips when I had questions (ex.: like what time to leave the hotel to catch my flight back). I would stay here again for vacation or business!!
