Kona Village is a beautiful property and we had a wonderful and relaxing time. Generations of my family have been going there since the 1970s and it's retained a special charm. The service and room quality were excellent and we appreciated that they were accommodating with a late checkout. However the prices for food are exorbitant. At over $1,200/night for the lowest tier room, that price does not include breakfast. Once at breakfast, a juice at 1/2 the normal size costs $12, an egg dish at $35 has an omelette and three potatoes and won't fill you up. You can expect to easily spend $50-80 per person at breakfast. A 12 oz cappuccino is $11. Plain steamed rice is $10. A hummus appetizer is $30 - all of these prices without tip. We went to their communal dinner and as vegetarians and pregnant I could not drink, so we spent $463 on dinner for two people that was basically grilled corn, vegetables, and dessert and were still hungry - we could have spent this amount to go out to a Michelin star meal elsewhere. You need to budget at least $200 - 500 per day in incremental charges if you plan to eat at the resort. A couples massage for one hour is $650 without tip. Overall a beautiful property and still a great experience but the way the insane prices don't feel like they embody hospitality.

The room facilities and scenery can be said to be top-notch in Hawaii, but the hotel service is incredibly bad. The front desk staff was arrogant and rude (I don't know if it was racial discrimination). They did not inform me of the credit card authorization when I checked in, and charged 2 authorizations of 400 and 700 US dollars. The money has not been recovered yet. When I checked out, I needed a shuttle bus to go to the villa to pick up my luggage. I called for 25 minutes but no one answered. Later, I called the room service staff to call the shuttle bus. There are 2 restaurants in the hotel. The service staff in the light meal restaurant is relatively friendly, while the service staff in the formal restaurant is very rude. You have to pour water/wine by yourself. After the appetizers, the champagne was not served. I suggest that babies who can't stand being bullied should not go there, because they will really be bullied by the staff inside. Also, the snacks in the room minibar are expired.

The room was smaller than expected. The front desk said that the area shown online was plus the area of the balcony. The children's club can only be hosted if you are 5 years old or above. The activity room is not as big as the Four Seasons. There are many stones on the beach, which is not delicate and cannot be stepped on. However, the view from the hotel is still very beautiful and feels richer than the scenery in the Four Seasons. Kalei from Concierge was very considerate and helped us contact the car rental agency and drove the car directly to the hotel. Generally speaking

If the budget is enough, it is really a very comfortable hotel. The ceiling of the Big Island Hotel is also good.

A review of the Westin Hapuna Beach Resort: My family and I recently completed a vacation stay at the Westin Hapuna Beach Resort. Overall, the resort is wonderful with a few rough edges. The resort is located on the west side of the Big Island, about 30 miles north of the airport -- with ”island traffic” plan on 30-45 minutes if you need to travel down into Kona. This resort takes full advantage of its beach location, which is consistently rated one of world's best. Hapuna Beach is an amazing long crescent-shaped beach great for swimming and snorkeling (near the coral at the edges of the beach. We saw turtles, octopus, and a wide variety of fish). The beach is perfect for families with children, though the water can get a little rough if the trade winds are blowing. Check-in was smooth and efficient. My elite membership was recognized as well as my birthday during our visit. We were offered points of elite breakfast credit, which included continental breakfast for two in Ikena Landing. Upon arriving to our room, we were greeted with a lovely bottle of wine and assorted goodies for our celebration. Our room was clean and well-appointed. We were staying on a points redemption, so no SNA option. We had a ”partial” ocean view room but I suspect we were given an ocean view room because we had a wonderful view of the ocean and resort grounds. According to front desk personnel, the resort did have a handful of ”lanai” rooms near the ground level with no view whatsoever, including a small number of no-view suites. We had a spacious bathroom with shower and tub; also a wonderful lanai with a table & chairs along with a comfortable outdoor couch perfect for lounging in the evening with a beverage while watching the sunset. All service requests through the chat function were promptly met and taken care of throughout our visit. Note, this resort also had a free guest laundry facility with detergent and other supplies -- perfect if you pack light or just want to clean off your swimsuits before you head home. Our main gripe relates to the food & beverage offerings and service. The resort's dinner restaurant, Meridia, takes full advantage of the resort views and location. Unfortunately, that's about all it has going for it. For the price point, the food was marginal and service was lacking. For a similar price point, I'd suggest heading up-country to Merriman's for terrific farm-to-table food and great service. As I mentioned, we received elite continental breakfast for two at Ikena Landing, each morning. Upgrade to the full buffet was offered for an additional $25 per person. Prices were steep for breakfast. Servers were friendly but took a while to get food out at times. I would recommend, particularly families working within a budget, to try Piko Coffee Bar. Piko has much better coffee options throughout the day and also offers a variety of hot/cold grab-and-go options (at breakfast, eggs, hash browns and breakfast meats, pas

We had an absolutely amazing visit here in June. I was a little nervous reading some of the mixed reviews leading up to our trip. Hopefully I can help others rest easy and book with confidence. Every employee we interacted with was incredibly kind and helpful--even when enduring the only rudeness we DID witness (from a couple of entitled guests--looking at you, lady who would just pick the table she wanted at breakfast regardless of where the host led her). Everyone from Ginger and Shirley at breakfast, the friendly shuttle driver to the Mauna Kea, Healani leading the sunrise chant and lei making, Dominga in housekeeping, the guys at the beach rental hut, the valet folks...EVERYONE we encountered truly went above and beyond! The view from our room was stunning, although I asked for a room in the South Tower to avoid our view being blocked by the new residences. While it meant a little less of the beach could be seen, I'd rather look at just greenery and ocean than the roofs of the new residences in front of my nicer beach view. I think they painted the roof of the new residences tan so that it would blend in with the sand, but this was a mistake--it's not subtle and it truly does take away from the view. They could totally solve the view issue for the North Tower rooms by adding a rooftop garden or LIVING ROOF to these residences, which would also get them some more sustainability points. We LOVED the option to use the locking wooden shutter front door and the balcony screen doors so that we could enjoy the ocean breeze blowing through our room without sacrificing privacy. Daily housekeeping is back, and we requested turndown service a few nights when we'd made a mess of our room transitioning from the beach to an evening out. We appreciated how quick and thorough both services were. It was so nice to stop by the room after an early breakfast and snorkel to find that it had already been fixed up. We did the breakfast buffet most mornings, and found it to be a great and hearty start to our days. We appreciated that they opened at 6:30 so we could get out and snorkel while the water was still calm. They do serve a plate of breads and pastries and a plate of fruits directly to your table so the birds aren't tempted to hang out at the buffet, but we were very happy with the selection and quality--each day we had something a little more exotic like rambutan, dragon fruit, papaya, etc. in addition to more basic offerings like pineapple. The beach is absolutely stunning, and we didn't have any issues getting chairs. There's some nice snorkeling along the rocks to the right if you go out in the morning before the waves pick up, and then in the afternoon it's fun to body surf or relax and jump over the big waves out just past where they're breaking. Five years ago, we stayed at the Mauna Kea, and were nervous that Hapuna would feel like a step down. We actually enjoyed the grounds, service, and beach much more--and with the dining sh

Hotel is very nice with many swimpools and beach. But service is not that great and hotel breakfast is expensive and not good. I paid so much for each day and you don’t get too much service. If you book early I think it’s still worth it to stay this hotel. Location is very good, near by have markets and shop is very unique. I would like to thank you Ctrip for all you hard work make our holiday very special.

Very nice hotel with first class environment and business at the door, but the price is more expensive. The pool is amazing, there are convenience stores to buy instant noodles, very nice hotel. Forgot to take a picture of the hotel, go to the sea in Hawaii

Good sized 2BR with nice appointments and kitchen supply. The Front Desk, Housekeeping and Maintenance provide excellent service and are responsive. We have used the HGV shuttle to go all over the Waikoloa Resort and have really enjoyed visiting Hawi, Waimea, Kailua Kona from this location. It is close to several beautiful beaches and the location has really worked out for us. We stayed in building 19 and would definitely stay here again.
Our two bedroom unit had everything we needed and was beautiful. Any time we needed help or something extra, the staff was responsive and friendly. The parking was right out front. The beds were comfy and outside noise did not bother us indoors. The rooms had blackout curtains for those who slept later. The lanai was a good size with table and chairs plus lovely chairs for lounging. Would definitely stay here again.

When I opened the door, it felt like a Chinese hotel from more than a decade ago. I was shocked by the light switch button. However, the room was quite large. I didn't expect that there was no hair dryer. The hotel facilities are quite good. You can play with dolphins at your own expense. There is also an inner bay where you can snorkel and see turtles. The speed of the hotel train is not as fast as walking. Sky-high parking fees, coupled with the extremely slow service. A rove beetle came into the room and called the front desk for 20 minutes before it came. It feels suitable for traveling with children. If you are traveling as a couple, you can actually choose other rooms nearby with newer and better facilities.

The hardware for the game is still there, but it is old overall. The elevator design is very complicated. Makai is indeed the closest to the lobby, but it is almost inconvenient to go to other places. The view of the resort is the mountain view + sea view + parking scene + roof view. I am on the fifth floor, which is acceptable. I must refuse the fourth floor Figure 3, the entire sunken balcony, is this genius design intentional? The water bag provided is very practical. The sea outside the lagoon is clearer and the marine life is richer, but the waves are big, so don't swim too deep with children. It is more convenient to call this hotel Uber. It is disgusting to get caught in the rain in the bathroom

I was surprised at how big the resort hotel was. There was a tram, but no boats. The service to make inquiries in Japanese ended in March. The shuttle bus to the nearby shopping mall was $5 one way, so I walked there (just over 20 minutes). The room was spacious, but the water flow in the bathtub was not so good. From the room, you could see the golf course and the sea. The grounds are large, so I got up early in the morning and took a walk, which felt great. The best spots to see the sunset were written on the map of the grounds, so I was able to see a really beautiful sunset. There were sea turtles and dolphins, and a fun pool, so I had a wonderful time.

The hotel is beautiful, but the front desk service is poor. Three hours were wasted at check-in, and there was only one person in the queue when checking out, and a lady's bill was miscalculated. The delay was more than half an hour, and the guests can only wait. It is incredible that there is only one person at the front desk. How can such a service match the hotel brand and beauty? Because I was in a hurry, I had to pay my room card before leaving, the bill was not settled, and my deposit and compensation were not paid. I do not know how to solve the problem later?
