We recently enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea with family at Down Hall, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The building itself is stunning, with beautiful historic architecture and a grand atmosphere that sets the perfect mood for a special afternoon. Our experience was truly enhanced by Jane, who looked after us so well. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our time together. It’s rare to find such genuine care and attention in service, and Jane truly went above and beyond. From the delicious treats to the elegant setting, every detail made for a memorable afternoon. The most breath-taking dry hire wedding venue with the most fabulous team. As a wedding planner/coordinator, I have the pleasure of working in many venues and Down Hall Hotel is without doubt one of the most stunning, friendly and accommodating venue that there is in my opinion. Lovely hotel with good space (family room). 2 minute walk to the airport.Everything was clean and first impressions of the hotel was impressive. Good value as booked through booking.com. Would definitely stay again.

We stayed in a premium room for one night prior to an early flight the next day. The room was a good size and the bed was large and very comfortable. We had dinner and a few drinks in the lobby which, whilst expensive, was good quality and a pleasant atmosphere. The bathroom was a bit tired and there was very poor water pressure, at one stage there was no water at all, which was inconvenient to say the least.

I stayed 1 night after arriving in early hours. Being on my own, the distance I had to pull my suitcase to my room on 4th floor was unacceptable as I’m 76. My room stunk of cigarettes. I reported this right away and was given a new room on 2nd floor and within a few steps of the lift. I was pleased with that. Breakfast was excellent.

Had dinner and breakfast in the hotel and that was all good

Public areas were nice Bar/restaurant. Rooms were good but lighting was very poor for reading. Luckily had a torch. You should not drink tap water in rooms as its from tank.Very unusual. There was plenty of parking for a Saturday night.Had food in restaurant which was good but took a very long time considering it was not busy. Some Wines by the glass were poor and overpriced.Breakfast was very good and the service. (man with dark beard).Over all pleased for the price.Thaxted village is lovely near byeFrom$71
