What an absolute gem of a place I can honestly say one of the best trips I've been on the staff made it a pleasure they are some of the nicest I've ever met and so attentive can't praise them enough the room was comfortable and the lounge to chill was great the food is excellent the best I've had for a while this is a must stay for a relaxing break and can't praise it enough.

Terrible ‘service’ if you could even call it that. There is a sign at the opening of the restaurant saying “please wait to be seated”. My partner and I waited for 15 minutes whilst two of the waiting staff looked at us multiple times and chose to ignore us. We walked out as we clearly were not welcome in a restaurant that had more than half its tables free with no reserved sign on. The least they could do could have been to address us and state that they either had no space for whatever reason or say they were closing but no.

We had driven through Ullapool in the past but decided to stay the night and we were delighted with our stay here. On arrival we received a warm welcome. The reception, like the rest of the hotel, is adorned by the most lovely artwork. It adds to the homely atmosphere. We were then shown to our room via the residents lounge which has a kitchenette, comfy seating, games and loads of books. Our room was cosy and had character; beams and old furniture. We had a meal booked and again the service was excellent and attentive, the meal matched this. I chose the veg bowl with dukkah; the blend of flavours and textures were delicious. The restaraunt showcases art exhibitions and there were some lovely pieces on display. Don't stay if you expect a high end, ultra modern hotel. But do stay if you want somewhere warm, welcoming, cosy, homely, friendly, local. My only regret is that we did not stay longer. Well done to all at The Celidh Place, you made our trip.

A really great little restaurant Friendly and welcoming ambiance Laid back style Excellent range of options on the menu Portions of a reasonable size for the style of dish offered Our chosen dishes were superb I would certainly plan a return visit to this establishment

Ok so this is only a budget hotel, but even so by fair comparison it's overpriced. It's really more of a pub/restaurant with rooms above. GOOD: - Service in reception and at breakfast is good, friendly and efficient ( but see below). - The breakfast is very good indeed, with most of it genuinely home made. - The communal lounge/ kitchenette is large and comfortable, with a well stocked honesty bar. - In the restaurant the food itself is very well executed (but see below). - Parking is easy. NOT SO GOOD: - For almost £200 the "large double" room is pretty small and very basic, although clean and with a good small bathroom. No TV, no tea making facilities, none of the usual little accoutrements. - The maitre d' in the restaurant is a bit surly, unfriendly, obviously stressed and too absorbed in his work. He talks very strictly with his young serving staff, within earshot of guests. - The menu is surprisingly short, as is the wine list. - Service in the restaurant is a bit frenetic and not very relaxing for guests. All in all it's an ok place to stay and to eat if not too fussy, but don't expect bells and whistles.
