|19.95km from city centerWe stayed in unit P6. Almost perfect. A bit weird to check in somewhere and then drive to a house elsewhere but understandable. Very large, clean and nicely furnished house of which we had 1 x 2 bedroom unit. Very spacious and nicely furnished, kitchen super well equipped. Don't rely on being able to sleep on the pull out couch though, very hard middle beam. Otherwise a great stay, will use again!

A nice oasis that is close enough to walk to piha beaches but is also close enough to walk to several nice hikes inland, including one to the very pretty Kitekite falls. Big kitchen and lounge and lots of outdoor seating and eating space to take advantage of their idyllic private garden. Geoff is a laid back and unobtrusive host but he's right there if you need anything. The tips input box is far too short so I'll include my tip here: Mind if you're driving to Piha from Auckland close to sunset. There's a place about 5-10 minutes East of piha where the road heads directly towards the sun and if the sun is low in the sky, about 1/2 hour before sunset, you come around a corner and can be absolutely blinded due to the low angle of the sun. You can't see anything at all and if you're not expecting it and traveling at speed you must stop dead in your tracks to avoid straying into oncoming traffic or going off the road. And if you're going the other way at this time of day watch for this spot because oncoming traffic could easily veer into your lane with the Sun right in their eyes.

|1.96km from city centerLocation is in the city of Parnell, more than half an hour's walk from the CBD. This is the palace of the Queen of Tonga. It is a relatively simple holiday home, 3 floors, wooden structure, high lift, kitchen to cook by yourself, shared bathroom - good hot water, washing machine, garden. There is a supermarket nearby. If you want to cook for yourself, you can go back and buy ingredients. There is also a very lively street nearby, with some cafes, restaurants and small shops. Less than five minutes walk, you can go to the Holy Trinity Church and St. Mary's Church. Overall is good. The service is basically invisible, the store is small, and no service personnel can be seen. Upon arrival, the room was ready and clean. Other self-help is just fine. There is a small heating in the house, very intimate.

The breakfast has a special chef made for each guest on-site, which is delicious. The service staff was very friendly and welcoming, and also reserved a parking space for us. In short, everything is fine, will stay again next time.

|1.16km from city centerI stayed in the eight bed female dorm and had a generally positive experience. The room was very sheltered from outside noise and roommates were considerate. Bunks are a bit creaky and there isn't a huge amount of space for everyone's bags, but the shared bathrooms are clean, showers good and kitchen usable. WiFi was also good enough for video calls and films. The surrounding area is a bit intimidating after dark and the hostel is tucked away up a random concrete staircase. I didn't have any issues though. Basically, it's a simple no frills hostel which does what it says on the tin and is in a good central location.

服務：服務完全超出預期，主人風趣幽默喜歡跟客人聊天。早餐是典型的英式早餐，提供沙拉、烤麪包和各種果醬，還會提供煎蛋和培根，根據客人的需要定製，能夠感受到主人滿滿的用心。
餐廳旁的世界地圖上滿滿的客人足跡，足以説明這裏的友善、包容、和舒適。如果想要體驗新西蘭當地人的悠閑生活，強烈推薦，但如果希望更現代標準化的住宿可能要再考慮考慮了～

|2.06km from city centerWe enjoyed two separate stays at Heaven's Rest during our last New Zealand visit. The first was just a couple of nights at the start of our trip in the 2 bedroom Suite, and then at the end of the trip we stayed a couple of nights in the 2 bedroom/2 bathroom tiny home. Both accommodations were extremely well appointed with comfy beds, crisp linens and spotlessly clean bathrooms. The 2bedroom suite is located in a wing of the main house, and is adjacent to the common lounge, the deck and the kitchen. We thoroughly enjoyed interacting with other guests in the common areas but if you weren't of a mind, you could relax comfortably in your room and watch TV or chill on the deck away from others. The kitchen was very well stocked and the continental breakfast supplies were plentiful with many options... even fresh eggs if you choose to cook. The two bedroom/two bathroom tiny home allowed for more privacy and was every bit as comfortable and spotless as the main house. Both the house and the two bedroom tiny home have a rural aspect which is extremely relaxing. Manager Robert was super friendly and helpful. The location is about a 5-10min drive from the bustling centre of Pukekohe with all the conveniences and an array of restaurants if you don't feel like cooking. Heaven's Rest B&B is simply a delightful place to stay and we will definitely make time to stay again when next we visit beautiful NZ.

The house is beautiful with its art deco era and comfortable furnishings. Despite a sizeable storm hitting Auckland we were cosy by the fire in the lounge and then in our comfortable bed in the Karekare room. Everything is clean and the kitchen facilities were excellent. We’d book again for sure.

|1.51km from city centerIt’s pretty much a backpacker’s hostel. Once that’s realized, expectations are adjusted accordingly. Let’s get the negatives out of the way: - must check out by 10 AM - there’s no air conditioning. There are fans, but at night, in summer, the rooms are uncomfortably warm. Everything else is positive. The location I felt was excellent. 20 minutes walk to the CBD; 30 minutes to the ferry terminal. You are right at Ponsonby, which is a main street for restaurants and coffee shops. There is an excellent supermarket one block away ( 5 minutes walk ). The lodge is very clean, and there’s a good community kitchen, where you can store your food as well as cook. I opted to pay + $20 per night extra for a private bath, but the hostel offers many bathrooms with showers. There are 2 washing machines and 1 dryer, each requiring NZD 6. The airport shuttle - Skydrive - operates from the Sky tower, a 20 minute walk. Here are the directions from the Sky Tower, which is on Hobson Street. Take Hobson for about 3 blocks, to Pitt Street. Go left on Pitt. Just one block on Pitt, on your right, you see a big, blue sign that reads “BECA”. After only one block on Pitt, with Beca Company on the right, that is Hopetoun Street. Go to the right. You will go up a bridge, with the expressway beneath you. As soon as you cross the bridge, you pass a girl’s grammar school, and Verandahs Lodge is clearly marked on the right, about the 4th building. The airport shuttle runs every 30 minutes, costs NZD 18 ( 12.50 for seniors ), and you pay driver, but only credit cards are accepted.

With its central location with a stone’s throw to the hustle and bustle of CBD it is a no-frills refuge for those who can’t afford or don’t want to spend big on a bed. Amenities are good. Kitchen is spacious. Only drawbacks are small rooms and lack of paper towel and hand wash in the kitchen. Bowls and cutlery are limited but I guess with this kind of money you pay you shouldn’t get too fussed. You get what you pay for after all. Staff are friendly. I checked out with no adverse reactions.

|0.45km from city centerPLEASE READ - WORST ACCOMMODATION EVER! I WISH I could give this place no stars. Their customer service is appauling! I am shocked with how we were treated and would rather stay anywhere else. My partner and I had booked to stay here for two nights. On the last day we checked out at 10am and asked if we could leave our bags behind the counter to come and collect later. The issue is, you cannot enter the building unless you have a key card, and as we were checked out we didn’t have one. But as this is standard there is always someone there to let you in. We returned when we were ready to leave and no one was there. We rung and rung the doorbell for 30 minutes… We tried to call their phone but… wait for it… they have NO working number. We proceeded to wait longer another half an hour and MISSED OUR FLIGHT. All our luggage, belongings and keys were in there. Once someone came down they said they were upstairs. We had to pay $200 to rebook our missed flights for the next day and asked if we could have a free night. The lady offered to pay but we said no. She gave us the key card and let us have a free night. We were approached later by another man who asked us to pay. we explained what happened and said we either stay here for free or will find somewhere else. We were HAPPY to go anywhere else if they didn’t want a free night. We were not staying there or forcing ourselves there. The man said he will see what he can do. The next day we checked out. The first girl (who’s fault it was to begin with) was there and said nothing. They later proceeded to CHARGE MY CARD!! we approached the manager and turns out the girl LIED!! and said we were just going to pay and that it wasn’t her fault. And the manager basically said we have to pay. she said she can check the security footage to see if our story is right, that we waited, and waited, and rung (We were on the phone with 105 as we were so desperate) and then confirm also the man talking to us. we gave her ALL the times. Yet we have heard nothing. it has been ages since our stay, no contact, no refund. AWFUL Not to mention unfriendly staff, awful quality rooms, awful place in general. Please spend your money somewhere else x

There’s also plenty of eateries on Boundary Rd there was no need for us to get in our car. Free parking is a real bonus. Robert the host & his lovely wife Bess are the best hosts you could wish for. The decor and actual building are both quite tired but they do their absolute best to present these in the best manner possible. Clean, tidy, organised, and nothing is too much trouble. I think it’s all you need and we’ll definitely be back.

Cons: to be honey, the bed linen is little bit dirty, the water

The common areas are very nice, but the fact that it has no bathrooms for both sexes on every floor is a real discomfort. Each floor has a kitchen, but they are microscopic and it is really hard to use it ....in addition in reception, except for Kase that is super efficient, others are a little made and put there, little wake and little help .... can improve!

The interactions with the staff made the stay even more beautiful. Nehan was one of the team members who was extremely helpful and kind, and we want to thank him here as well. It’s lovely to experience the atmosphere of a luxurious and extraordinary designer place that still feels like home and coziness. The spa, pool, and food were amazing. 10/5. |0.66km from city centerThe stay i had in Hobson lodge was by far the worst I’ve had so far in NZ - please spend your money elsewhere. The reception was rude and seemed like she hated it, there was ONE cleaning lady who did the superficial cleaning. The kitchen is far from what they are advertising(see photos). There was a total of 3 spoons, 2 knives and i dont even know how few forks. The kitchen was infested by flies everywhere and the other guests weren’t kind by any standards, some of the stuff we stored in the kitchen(butter etc.) was taken by other people. Surprisingly there were no means of writing what was yours when you stored in the refridgerators. The toilets - dont even get me started. There were a total of 4 toilets and 4 bathrooms, 3 of the 4 toilets were by no means inviting. Either they’d have pee on the floor, excrement on the toilet seat or they were flooded. Oh and both the sink and refridgerators had mold. To summarize this, don’t bother spending your money here, it has fallen far from grace.

James the receptionist was leaving and saw us. He was very kind and helpful staying to help even though his shift had finished.
The hostel needs some updating and a lock of paint but overall pretty good, comfy bed, hot shower. Can’t complain.
I did miss the bit about taking sheets off and leaving them downstairs after dropping my key in the drop box - sorry.
