One three one is on one of Athens main streets, near the Monastiraki district and near Psyrri. There are plenty of restaurants here! And every night this neighbourhood is very lively and charming. The hotel doesn’t do breakfast, but there are enough options around. One three one is more like a house with 5 rooms than like a hotel. We didn’t see the owner, but had good contact by WhatsApp. The cleaning is a bit hit and miss: our room was clean when we came. We had to ask for cleaning after two nights. The cleaning lady didn’t come at the arranged time, but she came in the evening. We asked for a blanket and she would leave it, but didn’t. It didn’t spoil our stay, but still. As has been said in other interviews, there is noice from the street. It didn’t bother us though.

Staff here were super friendly and helpful. They were able to give us great recommendations and advice whenever we asked. Everything was spotlessly clean and tidy. Bathrooms were well provisioned with toiletries. Great breakfast spread provided in the morning. Our room was next to the courtyard so I can imagine during tourist season it would be busy or noisy, but for us it was absolutely no problem.

|0.39km from city centerHow should I put it? Before traveling, I saw a personal recommendation on Xiaohongshu and said that the breakfast here is delicious. But I saw some negative comments below, such as the surrounding environment is very bad and there are many bad people. But I couldn't stand the fact that the price/performance ratio was really good, and I also liked the room type, so I decided to give it a try and booked it for two nights. There is an access control as soon as you enter the hotel. You have to ring the doorbell to open the door. The staff at the front desk are very enthusiastic. I arrived at about 11 o'clock in the morning and there was actually a room that I could enter. This is usually only possible at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. Very rare for Athens.
After entering the room, the window can be opened, the bathroom is divided very scientifically, the bedding is clean, and earplugs are thoughtfully provided (although I didn't use them). I went back to the hotel at around five o'clock both nights to watch TV and rest. When you leave the hotel, it is recommended to turn left immediately and walk out of this short alley, which is about ten meters away. It is actually very safe after that. Do not wear sandals when walking in this area, it is safer.
For breakfast, the area is not large, but the restaurant is very cozy, and the room price includes three breakfasts. On average, the price is really cost-effective. Moreover, it only takes a few minutes to walk to the Place de la Concorde and about ten minutes to reach the Constitution Square. It is very close to the attractions. So the location is good.
The staff is also very friendly to the children. When they were waiting for me downstairs, they took the initiative to give them pens and paper to draw, which was very caring. I had to print out urgent documents for personal reasons, and the front desk helped me do it for free. Thank you very much!
In short, if you are a young person, staying in this hotel is very cost-effective. I live here with my two children. I deliberately try to be safe and try to stay on the main roads and avoid alleys. It is actually safe.
The boss also gave me a discount when buying souvenirs, and asked the children to write postcard messages before leaving, leaving a pleasant memory.

|8.36km from city centerThe design of the suites is rare in that it is spacious. I had the Penthouse Suite which extended the entire side of the hotel. It had balconies on all three sides so you could open the balcony doors and get a summer breeze. I only turned on the air conditioner for my room as mosquitoes will bite you in the early morning. The spectacular ”Ocean Front” view give you a 180 degree view of the Agean Riviera. You could watch the sunrise from the front balcony and watch the full sunset from the balcony or dining room. I could have just stay in the suite all day. The towels and linens are first rate and the hotel will supply you more than you need. Their normal schedule is to clean your room every other day but when I asked they agreed to clean my room every day. I was concerned as the hotel has not been open much for two years due to covid. But everything was like the reviews of two years ago. One important tip is to email or call the hotel directly to make a reservation. You will get a much better rate. The rate I received ($333) was about the same as a hotel room in Athens. It is 7 miles to Athens center and about a $19 Uber fare. Do use Uber. I had a taxi driver that wanted to charge me 250 Euros for the trip. For your GPS and Uber you have to enter your destination as Scale Suites. For some reason the GPS and Uber d0 not recognize the address. The closest ”supermarket” was about the size of a large closet. One further away was the size of a 7-11 store. Restaurants in the area are not very good. But the city Alimos is much nicer than Athens. Not as much graffiti and few beggars and homeless people. If you have a rental car the garage under the hotel makes it so convenient to park your car and walk 10 steps to the elevator that takes you to your suite. In cooler times they have a real fireplace and they sell you bundles of logs. While this is a good hotel it is not the Four Seasons. The manager will probably be unshaven and wearing an old T-shirt. The staff is attired properly. The two hot tubs on the roof allow you have a glass of champagne while having a panoramic view of the coast as well as the mountains in the opposite direction. If you stay at Scale Suites I can assure you will love Athens. But book very early (you have to pay for the entire stay when you book) to get one of the best suites. The Excelsior Suites are not available in the summer time.

|1.9km from city centerAt first our stay at the Newel Acropolis seemed promising. But this changed when we returned, went to sleep and found someone else's underwear lying in the bed. It was disgusting and completely unacceptable. Since there was no one working at the reception anymore, we immediately reported this issue the next morning, hoping for a quick resolution. Instead, we were met with an incredibly rude and dismissive attitude. The person at the front desk insisted that ”this never happens,” as if we were lying about the situation. It was made our problem, but it wasn't. If someone truly checked the room as they claimed, how on earth did we end up with someone else's underwear in our bed? To make matters worse, the hotel promised to follow up on this issue, but we never received a call. It was only after we sent multiple follow-up messages - to which we only received an automatic reply - we finally received an update about our request for any compensation. Over a month later! And the response? No compensation, nothing. Just a curt message telling us that they wouldn't be doing anything about it. This entire experience was beyond disappointing. The lack of cleanliness is shocking, but the horrible customer service made it even worse. I strongly advise against staying here. This hotel clearly doesn’t care about its guests or maintaining basic standards of hygiene. Avoid at all costs!

Walk to the main road for site-seeing bus about 6-10 minutes. Opposite has a gelato ice cream shop for 24 hours. Before the date when u check in, the staff will provide you the building and door entry password thought email, very easy! If you have anything need to contact staff, email them, they will answer you very fast, so no worries on everything. Pretty good!

I contacted by email in advance, met a lot of instructions, took the initiative to draw out the specific places for nearby dining, took us into the house to introduce the situation (very good English listening materials, haha), breakfast has been piled up in the kitchen (bread, fruit, milk, eggs, juice, jam, Honey...all cold food), let us take it by ourselves. By the way, the landlord actually went into the house every day to clean up the garbage and help dump it, change the clean towels and shower gel. I was really shocked! The apartment landlord is not a 24-hour front desk of the hotel, so you have to communicate in advance if you have something to do.
If you have to be critical, it is still some distance from the attractions Acropolis, Constitution Square and the airport, and you can take a taxi back and forth.

|2km from city centerAmazing apartment with everything you need. Just 30-40 minutes walk to all the sights that Athens has to offer. The host was great, communication was top notch and very helpful. The apartment had 2 spacious bedrooms both with on suite. A full fitted kitchen with everything you need for your stay. The living are was comfy and had a little dining area. We had our own little balcony which look put over the the street below, we also had access to the roof terrace which had fantastic view and was a great place to chill. There is a little supermarket about 5mins away and a bakery which sold the most amazing cakes, pies and breads. Also round the corner is a little area filled with Bars & Restaurants so no need to go into the main tourist area every night. Would highly recommend staying at the Athens Squared Lofts/Apartments for your visit to Athens.

This little gem was right in the mix of great restaurants and entertainment. Our host was pretty awesome and very accommodating. She helped arrange transportation if needed and quickly responded when we had questions. When you first see the place, some might be a little worried, but don’t be! There were 3 women and we all felt safe. It honestly reminded me of New York/ San Francisco. There is a nice little pastry/ice cream shop just below the place. When I visit Athens again, I will definitely look for availability at this location. Oh by the way, it isn’t far from the Acropolis (20-25 minute walk, 10 minute drive). Along the walk, you will be distracted by a lot of shops and restaurants that the 20-25 minute walk will seem like no big deal to do. Trust me, this is a good find and fair price.
