The staff are very helpful, friendly and super-courteous. Booking and check-in were easy. The room was an attic with small windows on the third floor, fine for one but probably too cramped for more. It has a small adjacent shower room with pedestal toilet and basin. It was quite hot in the afternoon in late October but the aircon was great. A cleaner replaces the ”eco-friendly” disposable towels (compostable? in plastic? I don't know), water bottles, etc. and empties bins daily, so it is well serviced. There is a little shopping neighbourhood further to the northwest (keep walking to the end of the little Boulevarde and keep going through the plaza with the dancer statue), handy for basics and dining. This minsu has a lovely little cafe downstairs. There is also a washing machine. The bed was firm and very comfortable. If you are more than about 1.65m in height the attic room may be uncomfortable. The minsu is on the road leading to the 灵隐寺庙 complex, which is about a five hour mountain walk and well worth exploring --- just not on the weekend when it is SO crowded.

I suggest the night, I am a student who needed a accommodation for a few days, so I had a limited budget. The room I booked was on the fourth floor without a lift, very nice, but with two very heavy bags was not the ideal. The owner immediately offered to change my room with one on the ground floor. The room was pretty and quite clean, except for the shower with a little muffa.

This was a great find in Hangzhou. We really enjoyed the hostess and her family and would return again for that reason. Her English was also very good. The coffee is very nice for 8rmb! I’ve read other reviews about WiFi and it does require a local Chinese number to connect. The cleanliness was a little lacking. I was traveling with a toddler who is often on the floor. I wish the floor had been cleaner in the room and bathroom. I was able to laundry on site and there was a dryer available (20 rmb total). Overall, great stay and will hopefully return again.

If you have WeChat the hostel sends you a message with all the information in it when you check in. This hostel is especially well located if you want to see the botanical attractions of Hangzhou: the Botanical Garden, the Hangzhou Plant Nursery, Guo's Villa (all highly recommended) and the various other small gardens and forested areas on the west side of the lake, which is a 15-minute walk away along roads through the Botanical Garden.
