My stay at the Horizon Hotel was the worst hotel experience of my life. From the moment I arrived, it was a nightmare. Issues arose at every turn, culminating in my early departure as soon as I could manage it. The most distressing incident occurred when I became trapped in my room from 8:00 PM to 1:30 AM due to a broken latch on the door lock. Once the door was closed, the faulty latch prevented me from leaving the room. To exacerbate the situation, the room did not have an ensuite bathroom, leaving me without access to basic facilities for several hours. Despite making numerous calls to both security and hotel management, no one was able to assist me. I was essentially imprisoned in a room without basic amenities for an extended period. I finally managed to check out at 8:00 AM, utterly exhausted and frustrated. When I requested a full refund for this appalling experience, my request was denied. The hotel management claimed that since I had used the room, they could not provide a refund and argued that they could not resell the room for that night. I pointed out that I was astonished they would consider selling a room with a broken door latch in the first place. I had only stayed in the room for 30 minutes before discovering I was locked inside. I conveyed this to the management, but they remained unhelpful. The lack of basic facilities and the inability to leave my room made this an unforgettable ordeal for all the wrong reasons. I will be sharing this dreadful experience with everyone I know to warn them about the horrendous conditions and poor service at the Horizon Hotel. After reading other reviews, I am not surprised to discover that this is the worst hotel in Brighton. I have video evidence and emails for anyone interested in taking this case further.
