Protur Bonaire Aparthotel

We had an incredible experience staying here. It was our first time taking our little girl abroad, and the hotel was perfect for her. The splash park and on-site playground were fantastic additions, keeping us entertained at the hotel for the first two days. The team at the Tui Baby Club was amazing. Our daughter, Eden, loved spending time with Josie, Ede, and Katy, and she still asks about them even after being home for nearly two weeks! The food in the main kitchen was lovely, with a great variety of options, and the staff were excellent. Special thanks to Vanesa, who always made an effort to interact with our little girl and even gave her a lollipop. The hotel is definitely more suited for families with children. We noticed a few older couples who seemed less appreciative of the noise from babies and children being children. The evening entertainment was a bit repetitive, and there didn’t seem to be much to do in the surrounding area of Cala Bona, although that may have been due to our limitations with a young child.

We stayed for a week all inclusive with our son who is 3. On balance giving the hotel a three as some aspects were fantastic and others were abismal. They would really benefit from some consistency in service all round. Food - main restaurant was good for us, lots of variety over a week and all seemed very fresh. The food cooked in front of you was a nice touch and our son loved the ice creams and toppings. Food at the main pool bar was awful. It was a buffet in open air which lends itself to flies etc which wasnt hygienic at all. The toddler pool with splashpad makes lunch to order - we had pizza and burgers - which was much better but quality and range of offering could have been improved. Staff - restaurant were fantastic! One member of staff in the restaurant in particular was brilliant and always made the effort to say hello to us and our son :) bar staff in the evenings who took orders from the tables were really on the ball and you didnt have an empty glass long before you were asked if you wanted another drink. Staff behind the bar were quick at serving but not very friendly at all. Facilities - for us were excellent. Football pitch, play area, soft play, table tennis areas all great and with the exception of the football, all were in close proximity to the evening entertainment area. Close to harbour area where we rented a bike for the day and had loads of shops and other amenities. Cleanliness - communal areas were faultless, sunbeds always clean, areas around the pool kept on top of. No litter. Restaurant always appeared clean. Quality of room cleaning was awful. When we got back to our room it was hard to spot that the room had been cleaned, only clue was beds made (not always with fresh sheets) and fresh towels. The floor was filthy and none of the tables were wiped all week. We had to track down extra loo roll as this hadnt been topped up either. Rooms - recently refurbished and modernised which was lovely. We did have an issue with our aircon which wasnt resolved all week, we were told to leave it with maintenance and they would resolve it but it didnt happen. The lock on the door also didnt work when we got there, this was quickly resolved but tripped the electics on our last night. Would be better if there was some washing up liquid in the rooms so if you do use the cups for the odd coffee you can wash it up properly. Our room was also overlooking the car park and situated above the bins at the back of the restaurant which wasnt the most pleasant view. The landscape further out was nice and it was sunny here in the early evening. They should consider moving the bins and getting some greenery to cover up the car park a bit.
