Hotel Monterey Sendai

Perhaps the best hotel throughout my Tokyo - Tohoku trip. Comparatively spacious, staff speaks English well, the onsen spa is very affordable for guests, walking distance from Sendai station, hotel has unique 18th century European design, comfortable beds, good amenities. Only thing is that the onsen spa does not permit guests with tattoo, which can pose a bit of a problem in light of the free and open society nowadays. Perhaps the hotel can limit it to restricting only guests with ”tattoo sleeves” or something. Small cute little tattoos all over the body do not necessarily create a negative perception. I have 3 small tattoos on my body and I still went to the onsen nonetheless during non-peak hours, just to be respectful (I was all alone and would have left if it created discomfort for other guests). But love the hotel overall. Highly recommended.

ホテルモンテエルマーナ Hotel is in a very good location. Go out from the west exit of Sendai Station: turn right on the overpass and walk to the UNIQLO building (pass through the UNIQLO building). You will see the hotel door and go directly to the 2F lobby. For shopping, eating and drinking, you can enter various business buildings directly from the overpass; the front desk service is warm and thoughtful. We stayed for one night when we arrived in Sendai, and left a suitcase in the hotel when we checked out. We will pick it up when we return to your hotel 11 days later. At three o'clock in the afternoon, everyone has a can of Japanese beer or drink in the lobby, and free freshly ground coffee and juice are provided in the morning and afternoon; the room is clean, Shiseido POLA has complete toiletries, and there is a hot spring and sauna (the thick soy milk ice cream is very delicious). The price is also quite affordable, on weekdays it is ¥500+RMB/night, and on Saturdays the price doubles. When we checked in, it happened to be a Saturday (the average price for 3 nights was ¥710RMB/night, but we booked it several months in advance). My friend decided to stay with us at midnight. In the second half of the journey, it was almost impossible to find a room if booked half a month in advance. After checking for several days in a row, I finally got a reservation (average price for 3 nights was ¥940+RMB/night). I have to say that hotel reservations in Japan are indeed early bird discounts. ! Another friendly reminder: Autumn is the peak tourist season in Japan. This time, many B&Bs and hotels in the Northeast have been booked early. Most of them are Japanese. Some *********, like us elderly people from mainland China who cannot speak Japanese or English, are almost the exception. But the hotel The staff will patiently use translation machines to communicate and inform!
