Forest Rock Garden Resort

Though the hotel architecture is phenomenal (it reflects the ancient archeological site of Anarudhapura), it was the worst hotel experience ever. The room was clean but shower and safe did not work. At the pool 3(!) dirty sunrests, no towels. No phone to contact the hotel staff, which was totally absent. Meal came from the freezer and was deep fried or microwave cooked (at least according to its taste). Not to mention the bathrooms in the restaurant, which were simply digusting. Do not stay there!

The worst hotel in 50 years of travelling. Lights don’t work. No phone in the room to connect to reception. Have to ask for everything. Nothing arrives. Cannot walk to reception in night as the passage is through forest but has no lights. We could not get tea or coffee on arrival. Water is brown. Bathtub does not drain. Office manager lies with straight face. We have been offered free dinner as compensation for short coming but still not worth it . Website and actual hotel does not match. I have showed this rating to the manager and he admits it’s correct.

After reading so many bad reviews I was unsure what to expect. The Hotel is definitely not for everyone, as a matter of fact, there was no-one else at the hotel during our stay. Our room was clean and the sheets and towels were clean. We had a private pool which i chose not to swim in after seeing Monkeys play in the pool. The main pool was not clean at all, with sludge around the water boundary. I wouldn’t take children or people who need assistance or who are unsteady on their feet as the uneven ground, lack of lighting and general electrical works that require attention make this property unsafe. There is no bar or places to relax and have a tea and coffee. The staff are very friendly, and appear to be doing their best to accomodate with limited resources. Menu is limited and the hotel grounds could do with some attention. If you are a couple who are wanting to do some Safaris or other activities around the area this unique place is good for a couple of days. It is very eccentric and quite an experience. Probably not a place to hang around for long periods as the hotel doesn’t have any, activities, shops, experiences within its complex.

Very nice hotel fantastic surroundings u feel like u stay in a national park in Sri Lanka staff is also very courteous value for money very close to Wilpathu national park rooms have all the amenities very close to Anuradhapura city I recommend one of the best hotels in Anuradapura
