Mingsha Mountain in China

Mingsha Mountain is a famous sand dune located near the Crescent Lake in Dunhuang, Gansu Province, China. It is known for producing a sound similar to 'singing sand' when the wind blows. There are other mountains named Mingsha Mountain in China, and similar phenomena are known as 'singing sand' in other countries, including Japan. On a clear day, when the wind blows and the sand flows, it is said to sound like the music of stringed instruments or the beating of drums and gongs by soldiers. The 'Records of the Grand Historian' also mentions that 'when the weather is good, it sounds like music is being played.'
