Zhejiang Hangzhou Museum

Hangzhou Museum is a comprehensive city museum that collects, protects, researches, and displays Hangzhou's cultural heritage. It was formerly known as the "Hangzhou History Museum," which opened in October 2001. At the end of 2011, the Hangzhou History Museum was renamed Hangzhou Museum. The museum is divided into the North and South Pavilions. The North Pavilion is the "Treasures of Hangzhou - Exhibition of Cultural Relics," which consists of five themes: "Natural Treasures," "Ingenious Creations," "Calligraphy and Painting," "Leisure and Elegance," and "Inch by Inch." The South Pavilion is the "Memories of Hangzhou - Exhibition of Hangzhou's History and Culture." The museum's collection includes ceramics, calligraphy and painting, rare books, inscriptions, seals, jade, bronze, gold and silver, seals, bamboo, wood, ivory, bone, folk customs, coins, stamps, and other cultural relics, materials, and specimens. It has formed a collection system with Ming and Qing calligraphy and painting, Song and Yuan ceramics, and Ming and Qing jade as its main body, and primitive celadon, Warring States jade, and Yuan dynasty hoards as its branches. As of the end of 2022, Hangzhou Museum has 24,602 pieces/sets of collections, including 3,668 pieces/sets of precious cultural relics. It is a national first-class museum. The visit takes about two and a half hours.
