Winter Destinations | St. Sophia Cathedral in the Snow

This is not Europe, this is St. Sophia Cathedral in Harbin! St. Sophia Cathedral in the snow looks like a real-life Hogwarts. After traveling across China, I finally arrived in Harbin after a snowfall. I took a train to Harbin and went straight to St. Sophia Cathedral by taxi after getting off the train. I heard that even locals love to take photos here on snowy days. Today, I will share my experience and photo spots. ⛪️History St. Sophia Cathedral in Harbin was built in 1907 and was once the largest Orthodox church in the Far East. After a century of history, it has become a landmark of Harbin. 🎫A fee of CNY 20 per person is required to enter the church. The interior is not very large, and there are occasional performances of piano, violin, etc. The interior of the building has been fully renovated, so whether to enter or not depends on your personal needs. For example, I did not enter. 📷Photo tips 1. The dome inside the church requires a wide-angle lens. If possible, bring a wide-angle lens or use a wide-angle lens on your phone. 2. The bench in front of the church is a good spot to take photos of people and the church. 3. The main entrance of the church is a good spot to take photos of the grandeur of the church. 4. The night view after the lights are on is a must-see. The cathedral looks more dreamy at night. 5. The most important thing is to get up early if you want to take photos without people. I arrived at the square at around 6:30 am, for your reference. Useful information ⏱️Opening hours: 08:30–20:00, last entry at 19:45 🚇Transportation: Take Metro Line 2 to "Shangzhi Street" Station, Exit 1, and walk 🪭Nearby attractions: Daoli Market (a market loved by locals), Central Street (the most popular shopping street), Flood Control Monument, Songhua River 🏨Accommodation: It is currently the peak tourist season in Harbin, and hotels near Central Street are very expensive. You can choose a hotel further away, as it is convenient to take the subway.
