Seattle Attractions│Suzzallo Library - The Hogwarts Reading Room from Harry Potter.

The University of Washington campus in Seattle has 15 libraries, with the most famous being the Suzzallo Library, known for its resemblance to the Hogwarts Reading Room from Harry Potter. Opened in 1926, the Suzzallo Library remains a central research hub, offering various study spaces for students and is open to visitors year-round. On the day of the visit, we drove in from the Bronze W (North) entrance. Seeing the large 'W' at the entrance signifies that you are about to enter the University of Washington campus! After driving in, there is a large parking lot on the right, located next to the Burke Memorial-Washington State Museum (BRK) (parking fees apply). After parking, it takes about 30 minutes to walk along the main road to reach the library. Besides the Suzzallo Library, the campus also has many other historic buildings and libraries worth exploring. It is recommended to take the route from PACCAR Hall (PCAR) and enjoy the beautiful buildings and scenery along the way. The well-preserved architecture will make you slow down and appreciate the effort in maintaining these structures. Upon reaching Kane Hall (KNE), you will see a large plaza, and next to it is the famous Suzzallo Library. The grand Gothic architecture is stunning, and looking up from the entrance, you will see 18 columns, each with a statue of a famous figure such as Shakespeare, Da Vinci, and Plato. Inside the entrance, there are corridors leading to the second floor, where the main attraction is located. The afternoon sunlight streaming through the stairwell creates a beautiful scene, attracting many to stop and take photos. On the second floor, turning left reveals a breathtaking view: colorful stained glass windows, symmetrical arched stone beams, grand chandeliers, and sturdy wooden tables and chairs. While photography is allowed, remember that this is a library for students, so maintain silence and do not linger too long. In addition to the library, the University Book Store on campus is also worth a visit. It sells not only textbooks but also various school merchandise. Although the prices can be high, it is a great place to find unique items. The University of Washington's mascot is the Husky, which is incredibly cute.
