The most romantic town in Tunisia

One of the world's three most famous blue and white towns: Santorini in Greece, Chefchaouen in Morocco, and Sidi Bou Said in Tunisia. Sidi Bou Said was named one of the world's top 10 most romantic towns by National Geographic and one of the world's top 10 "paradises on earth." It was built in the 13th century. Yahyaal-Tamimial-Beji arrived at Jabalel-Menar and built a sanctuary. After his death in 1231, he was buried there. In the 18th century, the Turkish Prime Minister of Tunisia and wealthy citizens built homes in Sidi Bou Said. In the 1920s, Rodolphe d'Erlanger introduced the blue and white theme to the town. Sidi Bou Said became known as an artist's town. Many artists lived in or visited Sidi Bou Said. French philosopher Michel Foucault and French writer Andre Gide had homes in the town. The Andalusian-style cottages with white walls and blue windows are a feature of this beautiful town. The streets are filled with the fragrance of lilac petals, and every woman will be deeply moved by the romance of Sidi Bou Said. The town is built on a cliff, so you can see the gentle green sea from anywhere. Walk along the greenish stone road, and you'll see white castles and flat-roofed houses - a fairytale scene. The open-air café at the top of the hill is the best place to enjoy the view.
