Quiet Moments Among Red Torii Gates

Day 1: Walking Through the Torii Tunnel On the first morning, I arrived at Nezu Shrine in Bunkyo, Tokyo. This thousand-year-old shrine is famous for its red torii tunnel and April azaleas. As I stepped into the shrine, the ancient atmosphere greeted me, accompanied by the sound of sycamore leaves in the breeze, as if entering a serene utopia. I strolled through the continuous vermillion torii gates, the tunnel winding and tranquil, with sunlight filtering through the leaves, casting dappled shadows on the ground. At the end of the torii, I reached the main hall, where people were continuously burning incense and praying. I also made a wish to the deities, hoping for peace and smoothness in the days to come. In the afternoon, I sat in a corner of the shrine's garden, savoring local wagashi and matcha, immersed in the tranquility. Day 2: Experiencing the Beauty of the Seasons The next day, I revisited Nezu Shrine, this time choosing to appreciate the detailed beauty of the shrine's garden. Although it was no longer azalea season, the maple leaves and ancient trees still adorned the space poetically. I discovered a small stone bridge spanning a clear stream, the water flowing gently, seemingly carrying away all worldly troubles. On the other side of the shrine, there was a small teahouse where local residents leisurely drank tea and chatted, showcasing a slice of Tokyo life. I bought an ema, wrote my wish on it, and hung it on the wish rack, letting it float in the shrine's air along with countless other wishes, marking the perfect end to this trip.
