🔛 Continuing the Tunisia trip Citywalk The Town of Dates - Tozeur, is the largest oasis city on the edge of the Sahara Desert, I've been to three oases before, and they were all very beautiful. The ancient city's buildings are made of beige bricks, which are made by burning date palm branches into ash, adding it to clay, and firing it again. The ancient city in the streets has a sense of time travel, and in some ways, it's quite similar to the ancient city of Kashgar in Xinjiang. - The ancient city's market atmosphere is not overly commercial, there are just some local, everyday life scenes. Walking through the narrow, sun-drenched alleys to the ancient city, looking up, the trees that looked like coconut trees are actually date palms. Young teenagers wearing slippers riding motorcycles, pass by us, with curiosity in their eyes; I don't know where a group of local children came from, laughing and surrounding me, I quickly called my friends to help me take a photo, the strange Chinese face is also a curiosity to them, but they are not afraid, they chatted with us in English for a few sentences, and even tried to invite the boys among us to play football, laughing so happily. - 🕌 The ancient city is not particularly large, there's no special strategy, we passed by the mosque, visited the local craft market, bought some characteristic bags and fridge magnets, as well as dates all of which you can haggle over the price a bit, the artworks hanging in the alleyways, with a touch of local artistic flavor, I really like this small city, slow and gentle.
