In the autumn of 2024, I came to this exotic country with expectations for the unknown. As soon as I arrived in Tunis, the capital of Tunisia, I was attracted by the unique style of this city. Ancient buildings are perfectly integrated with modern facilities, and the narrow streets are filled with a rich Arabic style. Walking around the old city of Medina is like traveling back to the Middle Ages. The intricate alleys are lined with shops filled with various handicrafts. Exquisite carpets, colorful pottery, and unique silver jewelry are dazzling. Here, you can feel the Tunisian people's exquisite skills and persistence in traditional culture. In the center of the old city is a magnificent mosque with a towering minaret shining in the sun. Walking into the mosque, the interior decoration is gorgeous and solemn, and the huge dome makes people feel the sacredness and solemnity of religion. Surrounding the mosque, there are many ancient palaces and residences. These buildings are well preserved and bear witness to Tunisia's historical changes. Leaving the old city of Medina, I came to Bourguiba Street in Tunis. This street is known as the "Champs Elysées in Tunisia". The streets are lined with European-style buildings and are full of romantic atmosphere. The street cafes and restaurants are full of leisurely people, tasting local food and admiring the street view. Here you can feel the modernity and fashion of Tunisia. Tunisian food is also an unmissable part of this trip. The local specialty cuisine is mainly Mediterranean, integrating cooking styles from different countries such as Arabia, France and Italy. Couscous is one of Tunisia's traditional delicacies. It is made of couscous, vegetables and meat. It is rich in taste, nutritious and delicious. There is also harissa chili sauce, the unique spiciness is endless. In Tunisian restaurants, you can also taste fresh seafood, delicious barbecue and various specialty desserts. Leaving the city of Tunis, I came to the blue and white town of Sidi Bousay. This town is located on a cliff beside the Mediterranean Sea. The blue water, white sailboats, and islands in the distance form a beautiful picture. There are many cafes and restaurants in the town where you can enjoy a meal while admiring the sea view. I found a beachside cafe, sat down, ordered a cup of coffee, and quietly felt the sea breeze and the warmth of the sun. At that moment, time seemed to stand still. I was immersed in the beautiful scenery and forgot all my worries. In addition to beautiful scenery and delicious food, Tunisia is also rich in historical and cultural heritage. The ancient city of Carthage is one of the most famous historical sites in Tunisia. This ancient city was once the capital of Carthage, a powerful country in the Mediterranean. Today, although there are only some ruins left, the glory of that year can still be felt. In the ruins of the ancient city of Carthage, you can see magnificent palaces, temples, theaters, baths and other architectural ruins. These ruins bear witness to the prosperity and decline of Carthage, and also give us a deeper understanding of ancient civilization. In the south of Tunisia is the vast Sahara Desert. I took an off-road vehicle, crossed the vast desert, and came to an oasis in the desert. The green trees and gurgling springs here form a sharp contrast with the surrounding desert. In the oasis, I rode a camel and walked in the desert, feeling the vastness and mystery of the Sahara Desert. As the sun sets, the golden sunlight shines on the desert, and the outline of the sand dunes becomes softer, like a beautiful oil painting. They also invited me to their homes to taste local food and share their life stories. During my interactions with them, I felt the Tunisian people’s love for life and longing for the future. My short trip to Tunisia is coming to an end, but this land left a deep impression on me. It has beautiful scenery, rich historical and cultural relics, delicious food and warm and hospitable people.
