Málaga: Sun, History, and Mediterranean Charm
#favouriteitinerary
Málaga, a vibrant city on Spain’s Costa del Sol, seamlessly blends rich history with modern energy. As the birthplace of Picasso, it boasts a thriving art scene, including the Picasso Museum and the Centre Pompidou Málaga. The city’s Alcazaba, a Moorish fortress with stunning views, and the nearby Gibralfaro Castle provide a glimpse into its storied past.
The old town is filled with charming plazas, tapas bars, and the impressive Málaga Cathedral, known as “La Manquita” due to its unfinished tower. Along the waterfront, the lively Muelle Uno promenade offers stylish shops, restaurants, and a relaxed seaside atmosphere.
For beach lovers, La Malagueta provides golden sands and inviting waters, perfect for unwinding. Whether exploring its historic streets, indulging in delicious Andalusian cuisine, or simply soaking up the Mediterranean sun, Málaga offers a perfect mix of culture and relaxation.

Contemporary arts sometimes can be a nuisance, but not when it’s free! 😆

After some dose of fine arts in Malaga, it makes sense to also have a quick dip in some unorthodox contemporary arts to break free from the boundaries of conventional beauty.
📍Centre Pompidou Malaga
Especially when it’s free on Sunday from 4pm to closing, which is 8pm. 4 hours are plentiful for this museum; in fact it took me less than 45min. 💰Admission usually is €7 for permanent exhibition and €9 for both permanent+temporary exhibition.
Contemporary arts sometimes makes me feel that arts get so diverse to a point that it has also dropped its standard. Like it has no longer needed some strenuous painstaking efforts to polish the work; all it needs is some sorta idea/ideology/intention/story. All the rest is like marketing. Not all contemporary art works are like that, but a good deal of them. It’s good in a way that now everybody can be a legit artist in their own way, but it certainly has its downfall too.
Luckily the works in Malaga is not too crazy/extreme to piss me off 🤣

Centre Pompidou Málaga
Combination of colour and light!
This particular building can be seen from a distance in the harbour. The colours echo the Pompidou in Paris.
The exhibitions inside are all mostly modern art as well. The exhibits are all very interesting and well worth going in to see.
The exhibition takes about an hour, but if you want to take nice photos it's best to do it in the afternoon when the sun is shining.
Outside the museum, you can take a walk on the beach and watch the sunset!
