    Busan Gamcheon Culture Village: Save Your Time!

    It's highly likely that Busan's must-visit attractions are synonymous with Gamcheon Village, but considering the travel time and costs, the only highlight being a photo with the Little Prince which takes over an hour, and the surprisingly short art village, unless you have relatives or friends living nearby that you need to visit, just pass on this one! 😂 ✔️Transportation: Located on the western side, you need to get to 'Toseong Station', on the same line as Jagalchi Station, and then take buses 1-1, 2-2, etc. up the mountain! Don't even think about walking, it's a super steep slope! If you have a bigger budget, taking a taxi is another option. ✔️Culture Village? Art Town? Oh my god~ The whole village feels very artificial, with cartoon walls, Little Prince series, and scattered handicrafts everywhere. The route is inexplicably short; of course, you can climb the alleys and stairs to create a literary atmosphere, but it's just painted colors, sorry, didn't get the culture vibe 😅 ✔️The photo with the Little Prince and the fox 🦊 requires a long queue, although there are guides and everyone is very orderly. The view of the colorful houses is beautiful, but traveling all the way here just to queue for a long time, without any planned activities around, unless it's a living celebrity, it's not worth it... especially for a fictional book character 🤔 🌟The Busan Pass offers a free hanbok experience there, which is a plus if you think the hanbok experience is important‼️ Finally, because we walked too fast and didn't want to queue for the photo, we followed the guide down an alley, only to get lost among the sparsely populated colorful houses...

    Gamcheon Culture Village - Vibrant Colors

    Gamcheon Culture Village, with its rows of colorful terraced houses along the mountainside, is often referred to as 'The Santorini of South Korea' or Busan's Santorini. The village is beautifully decorated with vibrantly-painted murals and interesting sculptures. The alleyways, staircases, and winding streets add an exotic charm, making it a picturesque place for visitors to explore. To get there, take Line 1 to Toseong Station (exit 6). Walk straight, turn right at the first junction onto Kkachigogae-ro, and walk forward 140 meters to reach the bus stop. Take bus Sakha 1/1-1 to Gamcheon Culture Village stop, which takes about 10-15 minutes. After getting off the bus, walk back 30 meters in the direction the bus came from and turn left to reach the entrance of Gamcheon Culture Village. By taxi, it takes about 10 minutes from BIFF Square, Jagalchi Market, or Jagalchi Station; 20 minutes from Busan Station; or 40-45 minutes from Haeundae Beach.

    The Colourful Gamcheon Culture Village in Busan 🌈

    If you’re visiting Busan in South Korea, then Gamcheon Culture Village should definitely be on your list of places to visit! It’s famous for it’s colourful houses, street art, shops and cafes. The area used to be a shanty town, housing refugees of the Korean War in the 1950s. In 2009, the government helped plan the Gamcheon Culture Village Project to transform the village. Local artists, students and community members all came together to make it into what we see today. It’s now one of the most popular tourist sites in all of South Korea! Getting there: 🚇 The closest subway station is Toseong Station. Leave through exit 6 and you will see signs to the village. 🚌 Then you will need take the green minibus 2-2-2 or 1-1. 🚕 Alternatively, take a taxi. It’s a very steep hill so walking is not really recommended to get up there. There is one main path that takes you all the way around the village, but I recommend walking down the smaller and narrower paths and getting lost! You never know what you will find. There are so many souvenir shops, small coffee shops and even museums.     Recommended to stay near Busan Station, there is a street full of hotels right outside the station, making it convenient to go anywhere. day1️⃣ Hope 192 Stairs near Busan Station Popular community cable car 🚡, take the bus from Busan Station for 20 stops to get there (the distance between stops is very short, mountain road). This is also a mural village, you can go early to stroll around. Haeundae 'Little Kamakura' seaside small train, capsule train Navigation: Haeundae Blueline Park (there is a direct bus from Busan Station, the subway is far), you can take the seaside train or capsule train, 'Little Kamakura' is at Cheongsapo Station. Find a grilled scallop or grilled eel restaurant by the sea at Cheongsapo and eat in a small building by the sea, it's very enjoyable.     Busan Pass 48-Hour Guide: Making the Most of It!

    Today, I decided to take the beach train I wanted to ride yesterday. Traveling alone is liberating, but it also meant I didn't leave until after noon. By the time I got to Haeundae, it was already past 1 PM, and the only tickets left were for after 3 PM. Haeundae Beach Train • Price: 12,000 KRW, free round-trip tickets with Busan Pass • Features: Scenic beach views, leisurely travel experience After exchanging my ticket, I went to grab a meal to kill time. Since I'll be coming back with friends in two weeks, I just took the train and quietly walked to the beach, then used another Busan Pass ticket for Busan X The SKY. The view from the top was stunning, and it would be even more beautiful at night. Busan X The SKY • Price: 27,000 KRW, free with Busan Pass • Features: High-altitude observation deck, magnificent city and ocean views After that, I planned to head back to the hotel area to shop, but while waiting at a traffic light, I noticed another Busan Pass attraction, Ryan Holiday in Busan. I exchanged a ticket and went in. It's a cute photo spot, and I left after 10 minutes. On the way back, I thought of another place to visit, a jjimjilbang (Korean sauna), which was on the way home. Since it was still early, I decided to go for a bath. Although not as luxurious as SPA Land, it had a sauna and a high-temperature oven 🥵. The highlight was the bath area with a view of the Gwangan Bridge, and I even got to watch a fireworks show while soaking. It was a pleasant surprise! However, this place is purely for bathing and can't compare to SPA Land... Hotel Aqua Palace Spa & Sauna • Price: 30,000 KRW, free with Busan Pass • Features: Bath area with a view of Gwangan Bridge and fireworks show After the bath, I felt relaxed and went home to sleep, ending the day. —The Next Day— The weather was great this morning, and I got up early to make the most of my Busan Pass before it expired. If used wisely, you can use it for three consecutive days within 48 hours! One-Day Sightseeing Bus • Price: 20,000 KRW (unfortunately not available on Mondays and Tuesdays) I first went to Songdo to take the cable car. The weather really makes a difference; the scenery was breathtaking. Since I went early, there was no line, and I enjoyed the view while wandering around. Songdo Cable Car • Price: 15,000 KRW, free with Busan Pass • Features: Stunning sea views and a peaceful beach Then I returned to Nampo and found a place for lunch. I saw Baek Jong-won's Chinese restaurant and went in. After having jajangmyeon yesterday, I tried the seafood noodles today, which were affordable and delicious. Taking advantage of the good weather, I quickly headed to Gamcheon Culture Village, which is less crowded on weekdays. Due to the Double Ten holiday, there were many Taiwanese tourists. Gamcheon Culture Village also has many places where you can use the Busan Pass, but since my time had expired, I couldn't exchange any more tickets. Busan Pass Trip Summary I bought the 48-hour Busan Pass for 69,000 KRW. Here are the places I visited and their original prices: 1. Skyline Luge Busan - 27,000 KRW 2. SPA Land - 20,000 KRW 3. Taoyuan Airport Overnight Experience I also experienced an overnight stay at Taoyuan Airport. Since there were no buses to Taichung at midnight, and a private car would cost 2,800 TWD, it wasn't worth it for one person. Being a good sleeper, I naturally fell asleep, but the airport air conditioning was very cold. I woke up at 3 AM and took the first bus to Taichung at 4 AM, then a bus to Nantou, seamlessly arriving at work by 8 AM.

Although it took nearly two hours to reach my destination because the place I was staying was far away, it didn't bother me at all.     Busan Gamcheon Culture Village.

    I strongly recommend getting the 2,000 won stamp tour map from the tourist center because it provides a route that allows you to see all the hidden gems of the village. The path was not difficult to navigate at all. I spent a total of 3 hours there. Don't miss the photo deck on the 4th floor of the community center. Conveniently located near public transportation, this wonderful cultural village is worth the many walks and numerous steps when you go. You can spend an hour here or get lost in the back alleys for half a day. There is a lot of culture and art, and an interesting history as the village was once a refugee camp. It's a good idea to pay a small fee to get a stamp collection map because there is a good route to follow. There are plenty of opportunities to take fun photos with noticeable scenic backgrounds and amazing murals. Many tourists enjoy the on-site costume rental that adds to the fun. Food and drink options are mostly a variety of bakeries/cafes. There are a few street food vendors, including a man cooking food with a butane torch over a fire grill! It's visually interesting and quite tasty. I highly recommend this place for a great half-day outing. A wonderful cultural site; perfect for Instagram-worthy views. Highly recommended. Riding up and down is quite interesting; it took skill to maneuver the small bus around sharp corners and small streets.

    🇰🇷 Surprises Await @ Gamcheon Culture Village

    #citywalk Gamcheon Culture Village is probably the most visited and photographed attraction in Busan. Established since 1955, the village started as a collective housing project for refugees. Over the years, it has transformed into a village dedicated to preservation and regeneration of the local community. We started our journey from the bus stop outside the village. Maps and signposts are available at many parts of the village and do not worry about getting lost. The walk through the winding alleys in the village was full of surprises as we encountered colourful houses and beautifully painted wall murals along the journey. It was a fun and memorable experience for us taking pictures with colourful backdrop at different parts of the village.
