One of the great moments of my Beijing trip was to see the beauty of National Centre for the Performing Arts at the evening. It is also known as NCPA in short form. This egg shaped building is a sign of great modern architecture in China.

🏯 Located on the west side of the Great Hall of the People, the National Centre for the Performing Arts is famous for its avant-garde and unique shape, which looks like an "alien" on the solemn and heavy Chang'an Avenue. ⛲️ The exterior of the theater is semi-elliptical, exuding a metallic luster with a great texture, like a pearl on the water against the artificial lake. 🌐 The internal steel frame structure is like intersecting geometric lines extending to the dome, presenting a magnificent momentum and a different tension. ⚓️ If you look closely, the silver steel frames are arranged in an orderly manner, enhancing the sense of depth of space while creating an infinitely extended visual effect. 🗿 There are many exquisite artworks in the hall, and the unique shape is eye-catching, adding a touch of sacredness to the quiet and spacious hall. 🎈 If you observe carefully inside the building, you can also see a lot of "Easter eggs". 🔼 Upwards, the borderless elevator design creates a sense of technology, as if traveling through time and space. 🔽 Downwards, the texture of the ground and the texture of the building in the distance create a quiet sense of space beauty. 🔱 The sunken square leading to the small theater is probably the most dreamy place in the theater. On the way to catch a ride, I was captivated by this building, It's so eye-catching! 360 degrees with no blind spots! Absolutely stunning! Surrounded by water on all sides, You can see the reflection of the building from every angle. Strolling here on an autumn evening, It's really pleasant. I highly recommend checking out the night view of the theatre, and I also hope to visit in winter, to see how beautiful this building looks in the snow.

Someone who doesn't understand opera has a special feeling for Peking opera. In the days without TV or the Internet, listening to opera was the most popular pastime for ordinary people, and it is also a childhood memory of mine. Even now, when I think of Peking opera, a picture always comes to my mind: an old man sitting in a recliner listening to opera, humming and swaying his body, completely immersed in the opera. The NCPA is a landmark building and one of the "New 16 Scenic Spots in Beijing". It is an important cultural facility built by the state. It is located to the west of the Great Hall of the People and consists of the main building, underwater corridors on the north and south sides, an underground parking lot, an artificial lake, and green spaces. Navigation: Search for the NCPA underground parking lot🅿️ Ticket price: CNY 30 (discounts available on different apps) The NCPA is a great place to take photos. After parking, take the elevator to B1. Here are some photo spots at the NCPA. ●First floor lobby: There are sculptures with open mouths on the first floor. The floor has a symmetrical structure with reflections. It can be crowded on weekends. There are two sides where you can take photos of the reflections. Choose the side with fewer people. ●Sunken square: Take photos from the first floor downwards. The sunken square is very symmetrical and beautiful. Take the elevator to B1 and take photos from the bottom upwards. However, I was asked to leave by the staff after taking one photo. ●Intersecting elevators: The elevator area on the second and third floors. The photographer stands on the stairs and takes photos of the elevator. The symmetrical elevator gives a sense of time travel. ●Next to the stairs on the third floor: Go up to the third floor. You can see the sunken square on one side and take photos downwards. The glass and reflections form a crescent shape. People passing by here all seem to have a story. ●Art gallery east exhibition hall The "Faces of the Times" exhibition of Western figures spanning five centuries. You can see the works in art books. After taking photos inside, you can go outside and take photos of the surroundings. The scenery outside is also good. Absolutely top-notch theatre design in China, I think this is Paul Andrew's most challenging design work. It's very suitable for bringing kids to check in. Tips: The theatre is large, it is recommended to play for two or three hours. The light at the window is great for taking pictures and checking in. #christmastrip For Christmas, our workplace took us to see a show at the National Center for Performing Arts in Beijing! 🎭🇨🇳 Located right near Tiananmen in the heart of Beijing, the Theatre is almost like an upside-down skyscraper: for airspace purposes, the structure couldn’t be tall. So they built it downward, into the ground! 😱⬇️ Winding escalators take you through the building’s many levels, with theater halls and art exhibitions placed generously throughout. There were even some fast food restaurants! 🍟🖼️ Our workplace took us to see a Beijing Opera show, which is very different from opera as we know it in the West. The National Grand Theater in Beijing is stunning to look at both inside and outside. I've visited twice for ballet shows (Cinderella and Swan Lake) and have been impressed both times. There is a nice restaurant inside the theater to enjoy preshow dinner and drinks. The building is surrounded by a lake to look like it is floating on the water. The theater is directly across the street from Tianamen Square, which is lovely to walk around, especially at night to enjoy the views if all the lights. A must visit for opera, ballet, theater or any show if you can make it.

This is one of the places I really wanted to see before moving to Beijing and I only got to see it a week before I left. I can happily say it was 100% worth the wait. Beautiful from every angle and the water adds a stunning reflection that makes it even more photogenic. I spent about an hour walking right around it and took well over a hundred photos of it. As the sun set the photos changed and gave it a new look. It was really easy to get to, there are train stops right to the north and south of it so you don’t have to walk right around it if you don’t want too. I did not go to a show there but friends have and they loved it. So I guess it’s lovely both inside and out! #thisischina
