#solvang
Visiting Solvang felt like stepping into a charming European village, right along the West Coast. This Danish-inspired town stole our hearts with its picturesque windmills, half-timbered buildings, and cobblestone streets. Walking through Solvang, we admired the quaint architecture, cozy bakeries offering fresh Danish pastries, and unique boutique shops. The atmosphere was relaxing and inviting, making it a perfect escape from the usual city bustle. We enjoyed exploring its museums, sampling wine at local vineyards, and simply soaking in the village’s warm and cheerful vibe. Solvang truly felt like a little piece of Europe in California.
Visiting the World’s First KFC: A Taste of History in Salt Lake City
#100waysoftravel #travelusa #saltlakecity #kfc
During our trip to Salt Lake City, we made a stop at the world’s first KFC, located in Corbin, Kentucky. Opened by Colonel Harland Sanders in 1952, this small roadside restaurant marked the birthplace of the iconic fried chicken that would become a global sensation. While it was fascinating to see where the KFC story began, we personally found the fried chicken there to be quite chewy and salty compared to what we’re used to in Malaysia. In our opinion, the Malaysian KFC is crispier and juicier, offering a more satisfying bite. Still, it was a memorable stop for any KFC fan!
Exploring Cabrillo National Monument: A Day of Stunning Views and Blue Skies
On a beautiful blue sky day, I visited Cabrillo National Monument, a stunning spot overlooking the Pacific Ocean and San Diego Bay. The views were breathtaking, with the vibrant blue sea stretching endlessly into the horizon. The monument itself, honoring explorer Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo, stood tall against the backdrop of the clear sky. Walking along the trails, I enjoyed panoramic views of the rugged coastline, and the historic Old Point Loma Lighthouse was a charming highlight. It was the perfect day to soak in nature’s beauty, with the cool ocean breeze making the experience even more memorable. #100waysoftravel #travelusa#sandiego
Exploring Yellowstone National Park:Geysers, Wildlife, and a Stay at Old Faithful Inn
#nationalparks #100waysoftravel #yellowstonenationalpark #oldfaithful #bison #bison #travelusa #geyser
My visit to Yellowstone National Park with parents was an unforgettable experience, filled with awe-inspiring natural wonders. We chose to stay at the historic Old Faithful Inn, as we were concerned about the possibility of bears wandering nearby at night. The inn offered both comfort and a front-row seat to the famous Old Faithful geyser, which erupts with impressive precision. Yellowstone is known for its incredible geothermal features, and we marveled at the vibrant Grand Prismatic Spring, the bubbling mud pots, and the otherworldly Norris Geyser Basin. Wildlife is abundant, and we were able to spot bison roaming the park, but knowing how dangerous they can be, we wisely observed them from a safe distance inside our car with the windows tightly closed. While the geysers are the park’s main attraction, Yellowstone also offers stunning waterfalls, dramatic canyons like the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, and beautiful hiking trails that showcase the diverse landscape. Overall, it’s a place where nature’s raw power and beauty are on full display.
Exploring the Serene Beauty of Grand Teton's Lakes: A Springtime Adventure

#Grandteton
We visited Grand Teton National Park in May, and to our surprise, it was still quite chilly in the morning. Our adventure began at the Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center, where we learned about the park’s incredible landscapes and wildlife. From there, we headed to the park's famous lakes, including Jenny Lake, String Lake, Leigh Lake, and the expansive Jackson Lake. Each one was stunning, with crystal-clear waters reflecting the snow-capped peaks of the Teton Range perfectly, creating postcard-worthy views. Jackson Lake, in particular, stood out with its vastness and serene beauty. The peaceful atmosphere and breathtaking mountain reflections on the lakes made for an unforgettable experience, capturing the natural beauty of Grand Teton in spring.
Grand Canyon National Park Adventure: Helicopter Tour and Thrilling Cliffside Views
#nationalparks #100waysoftravel #grandcanyon #travelusa
Grand Canyon National Park is an iconic destination and a must-visit when exploring the western United States. Known for its immense size and breathtaking beauty, the park is home to the awe-inspiring Grand Canyon, a natural wonder carved by the Colorado River over millions of years. Its vast expanse stretches 277 miles long, up to 18 miles wide, and over a mile deep, showcasing dramatic layers of red rock that tell the story of Earth's geological history.
We chose a helicopter tour to fully experience the grandeur of the canyon from above. Though rain almost led to its cancellation, we were fortunate the weather cleared, and the helicopter departed on time. The views from the sky were unforgettable, offering a bird's-eye perspective of the canyon's depth and scale.
On the ground, I attempted to take a photo at the cliff's edge, but the sheer drop was terrifying—I ended up crawling for a not-so-perfect shot, but the experience was well worth the thrill.

Andrew Jackson’s home
In the spirit of discovery I decided to visit the Andrew Jackson hermitage museum. I found it historically significant that a former president was also a slave owner and I thought that by examining this historic site that it would help me to come to grips with this disturbing fact. While you’re there don’t just visit the mansion and the manicured lawns, I suggest you visit the former slave quarters in the back and see for yourself what life was like just a little over 100 years ago and the Americas. Coincidently my visit coincided with Andrew Jackson’s birthday.
much like many presidents of today Andrew Jacksons presidency was riddled with controversy and scandal. Go to the Andrew Jackson hermitage museum and learn facts about this amazing man that will be both enlightening and disturbing at the same time. American history is only as prevalent as those who go out and learn about it and this is an excellent way to learn about American history for yourself.

The Colors of America
The United States has gone into many struggles before it became the multi cultured and diverse country that it is today. Though tolerance and acceptance more common these days, it is still worthy to know how the country struggled and triumphed and The National African American Museum will help us have a glimpse.
I have to admit, my visit to the museum was rather chilling. I felt very somber as I walk past and look into the vast collections and the exhibits.
Located along 14th Street and Constitution Avenue in the country's Capital, I highly recommend you make this visit a part of your DC trip.
