It is an ancient citadel located on a hill on top of Athens. Getting there - You can take the metro to the nearest station and walk up. Recommend going early to avoid crowds as this is the top attraction is Athens. Key Highlights/ Must-See: 1. Parthenon Highlights - Parthenon is beautiful ancient temple dedicated to the goddess Athena. It is known for its iconic Doric architecture and historical significance. Although some of the columns have fallen, it still stands majestic and remains the highlight of the entire Acropolis. 2. Erechtheion Highlights - Erechtheion is known for the unique asymmetrical design and also the very iconic Caryatids. These are female sculptures that replace traditional columns. 3. Theatre of Dionysus Highlights - This is at the south slope. Although not so well preserved like Odeon of Herodus Atticus, you can still have a feel of its former glory. Another example is St. Andrew’s Cathedral, which was built in the Gothic Revival style, this cathedral features pointed arches, ribbed vaults, and flying buttresses. The exterior of the building features a simple and elegant design, reminiscent of European neoclassical architecture. Over the years, the cinema underwent several renovations, some of which introduced more modern elements while still preserving the historical European influences. Today, Nan Guan Cinema no longer functions as a cinema. Instead, it has been repurposed into a fashion culture showcase and nightlife venue. Despite these changes, it retains its unique historical and cultural value, remaining an integral part of Guangzhou’s heritage.

Getting around - I mainly went around using the city metro and on foot. 1. Hadrian's Arc Highlights - This is a monumental gateway built to honour Emperor Hadrian. There are impressive Corinthian columns and intricate inscriptions. 2. Temple of Olympian Zeus Highlights - Although this is mostly now in ruins, it used to be the largest temple in Greece with majestic Corinthian columns. This is dedicated to Zeus and we can now only get a glimpse of the grandeur of classical architecture. 3. Roman Forum of Athens Highlights - This is an archaelogical site which let us have a glimpse into the Roman era. You can also see Stoa of Attalos here. 4. Horologion of Andronikos Cyrrhestes Highlights - This is the Tower of the Winds within Roman Forum. It is an ancient clock tower and has a beautiful shape. An example of meteorological architecture. 5. Everyone was trying to get that classic shot of "holding up" the tower or coming up with their own creative ideas. The energy around the tower made it feel lively and playful. As I climbed the stairs, I noticed the tower is hollow in the middle, which I hadn’t expected. The staircase was narrow and spiraled all the way to the top, but the effort was well worth it. The bird’s-eye view from the top was breathtaking, offering a unique perspective of Pisa and its surrounding areas. It was fascinating to see how the structure continues to lean, yet still feels sturdy underfoot. Definitely a must-visit!

During my visit to Vatican City, I joined a guided tour that took me through the tranquil beauty of the Vatican Gardens, a peaceful retreat that offers a different perspective on the grandeur of the area. The lush greenery and well-manicured pathways felt almost surreal in contrast to the historical and spiritual significance surrounding the entire place. One of the highlights was the Sistine Chapel. Since we were on a guided tour, we bypassed the long queues, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Stepping inside, I was instantly captivated by Michelangelo’s ceiling frescoes. Seeing The Creation of Adam in person was truly moving—the colors were more vivid, the figures more lifelike than I could have imagined. The ceiling, with its intricate details and powerful storytelling, felt like it was enveloping us.
