A Journey to Iceland's Mysterious Black Sand Beach
In mid-November 2024, I visited Iceland's black sand beach, and its mysterious coastline left me in awe. On a foggy day, the black fine sand on the beach looked particularly spectacular in the mist, as if I were in another world, feeling an apocalyptic atmosphere.
The waves crashed against the shore, emitting a deep roar that made me feel the power of nature. The faintly visible basalt columns stood like guardians by the sea, and the stark contrast compelled me to take photos. Although visibility was limited, the sense of mystery made me cherish this journey even more. Walking along the black sand beach, my heart was filled with peace and awe. This is a place I will never forget, and I highly recommend it to every adventurer! 🩵
Iceland’s stunning glacier lagoon
This attraction is approximately 380 kilometers from Reykjavik.
This time I came here as part of a local one-day tour.
Admission is theoretically free, but there is a fee to park your vehicle.
When you come here, you can see the glacial lake just by standing on the shore, but of course, after coming all the way here, it is definitely recommended to take a boat trip, because you can enjoy the multi-angle appearance of the floating ice.
Boat tours are available for an additional fee and there are two options:
1) Amphibious vehicle, fee: 6700ISK for adults; 3300ISK for children aged 6-12.
2) Inflatable boat, cost: 14900ISK for adults; 7500ISK for children aged 6-12 years old.
This time we chose an amphibious vehicle, with about ten people per vehicle. The staff will provide life jackets for us to put on when we get on the boat. However, the life jacket had a sour smell, which made my friend and I feel a little uncomfortable🤢.
The boat ride takes about 40 minutes. Everyone is first arranged to sit on both sides of the boat, and then when the boat slowly stops, the staff will introduce the resume of Binghu. Another employee of the inflatable boat who had been following us picked out a large piece of crystal clear ice in the lake for us to have a super close encounter with, and then let everyone circle around to slowly appreciate the beauty of the ice lake.
This is a place you must not miss, it is truly indescribably beautiful! !

Feel the charm of Iceland’s natural waterfalls: Stjórnarfoss
This waterfall is about 260 kilometers away from Reykjavik and admission is free.
This time I came here as part of a local one-day tour.
It's about a five-minute walk from the tour bus stop. Here you feel peaceful and at ease. Appreciate the surging feeling of the waterfall, quietly watch the stones and water in the stream, and match the blue sky and white clouds with the birds accompanying the sky. If I could enjoy coffee and sit in a director's chair here, I believe I could sit here all day. Take your time to appreciate the power of nature.
Seriously, it’s really beautiful here! It's a place you can't miss.

Life’s Dream List Self-Driving Transportation in Iceland
#自车游
After a trip to Iceland, I definitely recommend that a self-driving tour in Iceland will be the best experience! After all, public transportation in Iceland is very inconvenient, and the scenery along the way is super beautiful and the driving experience is super good.
In addition, driving alone allows you to freely chase the aurora when it appears~
This time I came to Iceland and there was a weather warning. It really felt like four seasons in one day. Sometimes the sky was super open but the next moment it started to snow.
Occasionally, the snow is so heavy that you feel like you are in a different world (last picture)
Please let yourself calm down first and then calm down is the safest thing.
A few people who have come to Iceland for self-driving would like to share with you:
1. Remember to wear sunglasses during the snow season! The scenery along the way is almost all white. The sunlight during the day will make it difficult to open your eyes.
2. Make sure the car rental company provides tools for scraping snow (because the car is already covered with snow almost every day when you go out)
3. Don’t park on the roadside casually, because it is easy for trucks to park, and it is extremely dangerous when it snows heavily and the visibility is poor.
4. It is safer to rent a four-wheel drive car
5. Before departing for the scenic spot, you can check whether the route is closed due to snow. You can change the route in advance to save time.
6. There is a super long undersea tunnel in Iceland. Before entering the tunnel, you can turn on the air conditioning defogging mode to avoid the temperature difference after entering that will affect your vision.

Life's Dream List - Iceland's Snowy Snæfellsjökull Peninsula
#appreciate the snow
Iceland has always been on my life's bucket list. After going there once, I still can't forget it.
This time I went to Iceland. I was very lucky to encounter the local weather orange alert as soon as I landed. I spent almost half of the trip with a blizzard. The roadside was covered with white snow, and you could enjoy the snow at any time.
But I was lucky enough to have the sun show up most of the time when I went to the scenic spots!
In total, we spent two days and one night on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula.
Black basalt Gerðuberg Cliffs-Church Hill-Stone Bridge-Black Church-Ytri Tunga Seal Resting Point
It is worth reminding that there are very few toilets along this route. If you are lucky enough to encounter a toilet, you must use it first.
The black basalt rocks are very handsome when there is no snow! But when I arrived that day, it had already turned into OREO ice cream🤣 (please refer to the last picture)
After you park your car at the seal resting spot and walk in, you can see a lot of seals lazily basking in the sun. It’s a great place to take a break before continuing your trip~

🌟The capital Reykjavik is not big, and the city’s commercial facilities are all concentrated on one street. You can definitely walk all the way slowly.
🌟The days are short and the nights are long in winter. Children who love outdoor photography must plan their time and take cold protection measures.
🌟Watching the aurora depends purely on luck. Travel in a Buddhist way and be at ease with whatever comes your way.

A great place to enjoy the Aurora, the people here are great and the service is great.
advantage:
1. We got the best photos of the aurora at this location.
2. Waffle makers and high-end coffee machines for latte, capers, espresso, etc.
3. Cute puppy on scene
4. Friendly staff
5. The shower is great
shortcoming.
The room was super cold and the windows were wide open. Good warm up though. Boring white walls. It would be great if each unit had a feature wall
Come here for a quiet evening experience without too much around.

Strokkur Geyser Iceland Geyser A must-see attraction in Iceland
#naturalscape #StrokkurGeyser #100 Ways to Travel #Iceland
Iceland is a country full of volcanoes and can rely on geothermal energy to generate electricity and other resources.
Her ground will have hot air or hot geysers spraying or gushing out from the gaps everywhere. this
Geysers erupt from the springs about five to six minutes apart. It doesn't always spray high into the sky, but only one to two meters high spring water will gush out.
It is very easy to reach this place, so many tourists come to watch and take photos.

A True Icelandic Forest Trail!
Hallormsstadur is a beautiful and tranquil forest reserve located about twenty minutes from Egilsstaðir. It's amazing to walk in what is said to be Iceland's only forest. The forest can provide shelter from the wind, so sometimes the weather inside the forest is better than in the town.
There is a botanical garden here that was planted as early as the early 1900s. We walked around this botanical garden and were amazed by the variety of tree species, many of which come from places with dense, tall trees around the world, with some trees reaching up to 20 meters high. Iceland is experimenting with different tree species to see which ones can thrive in the harsh subarctic conditions.
After spending a few days in Iceland, it was wonderful to take a walk in the woods. It indeed has an impressive native birch forest. There are also many planted conifers here, and besides birch and conifers, there are many types of mosses and fungi to see. But if you choose the right route, you can see mature birch trees, which might be what Iceland originally looked like. There are many things worth seeing here, so I would recommend it to anyone who loves nature and ecology.
One of the highlights of my trip to Iceland - the power of nature is undeniable!
We visited many stunning waterfalls in Iceland and other countries, and Dettifoss did not disappoint. From what I understand, it is the most powerful waterfall in Europe, with a flow rate of up to 600 cubic meters per second. Before you even see it, you can sense its presence through the noise, spray, and rainbows. It is truly impressive, roaring forward over the wide cliffs, so be prepared to get wet. The day I visited, the spray and mist were intense, showcasing the raw power of nature. Make sure to hike to all the available viewpoints, as each offers a different perspective. But wear sturdy shoes (preferably waterproof) and bring a light jacket, as it can get cold and windy at times.
Since the north coast of Iceland is still not as popular as the Reykjavik area and the south coast, attractions like Dettifoss have more visitors but are not as crowded as those in the Golden Circle.
Majestic Peaks and Picturesque Waterfalls
We learned about this mountain and the waterfall in front of it through social media. Kirkjufell is said to be the most photographed spot in Iceland. Indeed, it is a breathtaking sight, reminiscent of Switzerland's Matterhorn, and also one of the filming locations for Game of Thrones ~ Arrowhead Mountain.
We stopped at the viewpoint of Kirkjufellsfoss, the waterfall across the road, and it was easy to walk across the waterfall. The uniqueness of this place will amaze you when you see it; words cannot truly describe how special it is. The view from the top of the waterfall is fantastic, and you can take some stunning photos of the waterfall and the mountains. Every second of the long drive from Reykjavik is worth it, and you won't regret experiencing it in person. I hope to return one day and will never forget the grandeur and atmosphere of this place.
You can park in the parking lot and walk to the waterfall, but be aware that the parking fee is very expensive, costing 10,000 ISK no matter how long you stay. Credit cards are accepted, but don't forget to pay, as there are cameras to record your car.
Looking for the Dragon Canyon from 'Game of Thrones'
This canyon and valley are located in the southern part of Iceland and are incredibly beautiful. You can walk along the path to the starting point of the eastern side of the canyon. This path has been paved for some time now.
From the parking lot, there is a trail leading to several viewpoints and observation platforms. Surprisingly, most tourists only check out the first two and ignore the farther one. In fact, it's just a few meters away and offers wonderful views and waterfalls. If you want to see the best views, you must walk all the way down.
The river flowing through the valley comes from the Öræfajökull glacier, shaping this beautiful spot. This location was also used for filming the first episode of the eighth season of 'Game of Thrones'. Daenerys and Jon Snow are seen riding their dragons through this canyon.
Driving from Route 1, take a gravel road suitable for cars of any size for 18 kilometers to reach the canyon's paid parking lot. You can easily complete the payment by scanning a QR code. The exact location can be found on Google Maps.
The raw power of nature • Breathtaking wonders
If you visit Iceland 🇮🇸, this powerful and majestic waterfall is an absolutely stunning place. Came on a sunny day and saw a lot of rainbows 🌈 It's crazy how powerful it is, the fog will make you wet the closer you get. Wearing raincoats, we walked towards the waterfall and climbed to the top, where we got wet for a short time, demonstrating the natural magical power of the waterfall.

Iceland boasts areas of natural beauty and historical significance
Iceland boasts areas of natural beauty and historical significance, offering many excellent walking options.
The entire national park is stunning. Here, you'll find a historic meeting place where Iceland's rules, laws, and parliament were established over the centuries. The Eurasian and North American tectonic plates run through the park, and a trail will guide you through this area. As you enjoy the scenery between these plates, stroll along the streams, and hope for no major earthquakes, it's a wonderful experience!
Thingvellir features an excellent visitor center that provides insights into the park's history and some famous visitors who have been there.
This trip is worth the time to drive and explore. The park is also included in many tours departing from Reykjavik.
Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach: Experience the Power of Nature
Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach is a captivating landmark on Iceland's south coast. The beach is renowned for its striking black sand, which leaves no residue on your hands. Surrounded by towering sea stacks, the beach is further enhanced by the roaring Atlantic waves and powerful surf that crash against the cliffs with a thunderous sound! Due to the unpredictable waves, it is advised to exercise caution when approaching the shoreline. The contrast between the black sand and the crashing white waves creates a stunning visual effect. The nearby sea stacks add a touch of mystery, making it a favorite among photographers and nature enthusiasts. Despite its beauty, visitors should respect the powerful ocean and adhere to safety guidelines.
A Stunning Winter Canyon
A truly unique canyon that is easily accessible to the viewpoint. The initial climb is a bit steep but not difficult. Once you reach the top, the path becomes flat until you reach the distant viewing platform. When we visited in winter, the roads were icy, so we recommend wearing crampons.
You should plan to stay here for about an hour, and it is absolutely worth it because the canyon views are breathtaking.
Diamond Beach in Iceland: A Unique and Stunning Tourist Destination
This place is so unique and wonderful. I pay tribute to the natural beauty here. This is a black sand beach with large chunks of ice that have floated from the melting Jökulsárlón glacier. When these icebergs are broken into pieces by the waves, it becomes so breathtaking that you can't take your eyes off it.
It's called Diamond Beach because when sunlight and light hit these ice chunks, they sparkle like diamonds. This place is a tourist destination, but it's very quiet.
The beauty of this place is such that you can't guess its magnificence unless you visit. A must-see in Iceland!
The Great Geysir Geothermal Area in Iceland
The Great Geysir Geothermal Area in Iceland is a must-visit spot. Don't miss this place. If you're exploring Iceland, it's worth planning to spend some time here, and you can easily spend 1-2 hours. There are walking paths along the hot springs leading up to the top of the rocks, offering a panoramic view of the Great Geysir Geothermal Area.
This area is dotted with about 50 geysers, with the largest, Geysir, located about 50 meters north of Strokkur Geyser. The water from Geysir can shoot up to 70 meters high, and you don't have to wait long to enjoy this rare and unique geological spectacle from different angles at your leisure.
The park is free to enter, with a large parking lot at the entrance offering free parking. There are also souvenir and dining areas nearby.
Iceland Horseback Riding Tour: Wild Scenery, Absolutely the Right Choice!
What a great experience for me as my first horse rider! Our tour guide was a very personable and patient man. I personally was very nervous but he helped guide and kept us calm! The route itself is scenic, with several rivers ending at waterfalls and back.
We love how well cared for and loved these animals are! Choosing this place is definitely the right choice!
I would recommend this experience to anyone, especially if you are on the fence about riding a horse. It’s the best way to experience the connection between people and horses while experiencing Iceland’s epic landscape and fully embracing the wild nature of Mr. Iceland. Thank you for such an epic experience!

Iceland's Basalt Cave: A Unique Geological Perspective, Absolutely Worth Visiting!
One of the most beautiful and distinctive places in Iceland. It is considered one of the most dangerous beaches in Europe, and it truly lives up to this reputation. The cave, featuring basalt columns, can only be visited during low tide, with signs indicating whether it is safe.
This cave offers a unique geological perspective on Iceland's volcanic history. The ethereal experience created through the cave's opening makes it an ideal choice for those looking to explore Iceland's pristine beauty.
It is also a popular spot for bird watching, especially during the nesting season when many birds are chirping on the cliffs, making it very special. Absolutely worth a visit!
Iceland's Most Beautiful Geyser! But Beware of Hot Water and Steam Columns!
Iceland's most famous geyser is the most beautiful among all the geysers in the area, erupting approximately every 5 minutes with water splashes reaching an average height of over 10 meters. It is a spectacular natural phenomenon, with bubbling and smoking sounds all around. The smell of rotten eggs fills the air... Waiting for it to erupt is worth it, but be cautious and keep your hands and face away from the geyser, as it shoots out hot water and steam columns.
Þingvallavatn: Iceland's Largest Natural Lake, A Remarkable Place
Þingvallavatn, located within Þingvellir National Park, is Iceland's largest natural lake. The water is crystal clear, reflecting the surrounding spectacular volcanic cliffs and lava formations.
In addition to its stunning beauty, Þingvallavatn holds historical significance. The ancient Icelandic parliament, Alþingi, was located nearby. This site showcases a harmonious blend of nature, history, and geology, making Iceland truly remarkable.
Hidden Gem Waterfall~Seljalandsfoss.
This is the famous and beautiful 'walk-behind' waterfall we saw on our South Coast tour. The path to the waterfall has handrails and is easy to walk. But as you get closer, the path loses its handrails, and you have to climb over large wet rocks to reach a muddy trail that leads behind the waterfall. Our guide warned us that it was very slippery here. It was raining and very windy the day we went. Despite having hiking boots, we didn't want to take the risk. We weren't the only ones who didn't walk behind; many young people also decided not to.
Please note that the entire path is not easy. Waterproof raincoats with hoods, waterproof pants, and waterproof hiking boots are also not easy.
Seeing the Northern Lights in Iceland is definitely worth it.
Spent several days in Iceland, and on the third night, I finally saw the Northern Lights. It was so touching! I've heard that some people stay for many days and still don't get to see them, so I was really happy to catch a glimpse. Although it wasn't a major display, witnessing the ever-changing green lights made me truly appreciate the beauty and wonder of nature. Despite the high cost, seeing the Northern Lights is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that you won't regret.

▪️Baejarins Beztu Pylsur Hot Dog Stand
The most famous hot dog stand in Iceland, with the blessing of the president, there is an endless line of people queuing up.
I thought it was a normal hot dog, which was not surprising at first, but when I learned that Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur’s hot dogs are mainly made of mutton, I was a little surprised because I couldn’t taste the mutton at all.
▪️Tjörnin Lake
There are really a lot of ducks, but it’s just a scenic spot I passed by.
▪️The Sun Voyager
When I had no idea about the Solar Voyager, I thought it was a fish bone. The designer's idea was to make it look like a ship floating in the air. It stretches into space in a way that makes the sea, sky and the mind of the observer become part of the entire work. Hope to bring every observer to where the heart is.

Exploring Reykjavik: The Perlan Museum and Observation Deck
On our 6th day in Iceland, we are about to complete the longest drive of the trip, covering 384 kilometers, almost 5 hours, from Akureyri straight to our hotel in Reykjavik. We decided to skip the attractions in the west of Iceland on the way back - those will have to wait for another visit.
On our 7th day in Iceland, our first stop is the Perlan Wonders of Iceland Nature Museum, which requires a ticket for entry. Inside the museum, there are exhibitions like the Northern Lights show, an artificial ice cave, and more... There's also a revolving restaurant, a coffee shop, an ice cream store, and a bar. From the Perlan observation deck, you can enjoy a 360-degree view of the capital, Reykjavik.
In the summer in Iceland, we didn't get the chance to visit a real ice cave, but here they have an artificial ice cave exhibition, which offers a taste of what it's like to visit the blue ice caves. Haha 😄
The outdoor observation deck at Perlan offers a panoramic view of the entire city of Reykjavik. The top floor has a semi-circular transparent glass exterior, which actually houses a souvenir shop and a restaurant.
Akureyri, the northern capital and second largest city in Iceland
The last stop on the fifth day in Iceland ~ Akureyri
🚙It took about 3 hours to get from the hotel to Akureyri🚙The total length is 82.5 kilometers
▪️ Akureyri Cathedral Akureyri is the largest city in the north of Iceland. Akureyri Cathedral is the iconic building of the entire city and a must-visit destination for everyone. The church is built on a hillside, and you have to walk up more than a hundred stairs to visit it.
▪️This square is located next to Akureyri's main dock and was once an industrial town with factories producing a variety of goods: candy, soft drinks, paints, washing powder, margarine, bread and candles, as well as various processed meat products. However, these industrial days are long gone and today they are transformed into venues of activities of a completely different nature, such as restaurants, bookstores, craft and design shops, as well as various cultural and artistic events, including the School of Visual Arts and the Akureyri Art Museum .
Akureyri is located next to the Eyjafjord and is the most suitable place for whale watching in Iceland, so there are many local whale watching groups.
▪️Hafnarstræti Street, there are many shops next to it, including Icelandic national brands Icewear and 66°NORTH Iceland. There are also many bookstores and boutiques.
▪️Located on Hafnarstræti street, there is a giant mural of a girl, another check-in hotspot.
▪️The red light in Akureyri is a heart because Iceland was on the verge of bankruptcy in 2008. In order to inspire people and bring hope and confidence to people, the red light was changed into the shape of a heart.

"Iceland Gods Waterfall Mirror Lake" from Lake Myvatn to Akureyri
It’s the fifth day in Iceland. It’s a nice day, but a little bit cold. Today’s trip is to Akureyri, the fourth largest city in northern Iceland.
🚙It takes about 40 minutes from the hotel to Godafoss Waterfall🚙48.8 kilometers
On the 5th day I saw the waterfalls, I found that each waterfall was a little different. The color of the water in the Gods Falls was a bit green. I wonder if it was related to the weather?
Legend has it that after the local residents embraced Christianity in 1000 AD, they threw all the idols they worshiped into the abyss of the waterfall. This was a sign of piety at the time, and the waterfall was named the Falls of the Gods.
There is a souvenir shop next to the parking lot of Gods Falls
🚙After leaving Godafoss, continue walking along Highway 1 for about 10 minutes to 7.1 kilometers to reach Ljósavatn Mirror Lake.
Walk along Highway 1 for about 20 minutes to 22.9 kilometers to a parking lot where you can enjoy the entire Akureyri.

The hot springs not to be missed in "Myvatn Lake, Iceland"
The fourth stop on the fourth day in Iceland~
🚙It takes about 15 minutes from Viti Crater Lake to Myvatn Hot Spring🚙
How can you miss Myvatn Hot Spring when you come to northern Iceland? The sky was gloomy that day, and I didn’t expect the sun to come out...
Although Iceland is most famous for the Blue Lagoon, Mývatn is also a good choice. Lake Myvatn is smaller, has fewer tourists, and is cheaper than the Blue Lagoon. Hot spring water is rich in minerals, which is good for the skin, and because the water is alkaline, it is not easy for bacteria to grow, so there is no need to use chlorine for disinfection. After soaking, skin feels slippery to the touch.
After soaking in the hot spring, your skin becomes smooth and tender, and the fatigue of the past few days disappears instantly!
