#wuzhen Getting to Wuzhen was a 20-minute speedtrain ride from Hangzhou and another hour's journey further by cab.
One of China’s more famous well-preserved heritage. The daytime and night sceneries are both stunning with different vibes. There are many shops and restaurants along the canal. The place may have become touristy and a bit crowded but the ambience of this water town is still worth a visit.
Wuzhen Water Town: A Tranquil Stroll Through Jiangnan's Timeless Beauty
#chinatrip #Jiangnan #wuzhen
Wuzhen Water Town, one of the most famous water towns in Jiangnan, beautifully captures the essence of traditional Chinese charm. Though it has become quite commercialized with its bustling shops and cafes, it still holds pockets of tranquility where time seems to slow down. The ancient stone bridges, meandering canals, and traditional wooden houses create a serene atmosphere, perfect for an afternoon stroll. Wandering through its quieter alleys or along the water's edge, you can still find peaceful spots to soak in the beauty of this historic town. Whether it's the gentle lapping of the water or the soft glow of the afternoon sun, Wuzhen offers a relaxing escape amidst its timeless scenery.
Wuzhen evening
We took 巴巴快巴 bus from Wulinmen Hangzhou bus station to Wuzhen. It took us around 1.5 hours to arrive in Wuzhen Xizha.
We have bought our ticket in advance at Trip.com. Suggest to come around 12pm so you can have lunch here and start walking around until night.
The facilities here are tourist friendly - at least the toilets are clean.
Food and drinks here are slightly expensive.

Wuzhen – A Timeless Water Town
#voyagevibes
South of the Yangtze River, Wuzhen is famed as China’s most beautiful ancient water town, with scenery like an ink painting.
I had the chance to visit in June, though, unfortunately, I didn’t have enough time for a boat ride. I’m definitely coming back to experience it! With 1,000+ years of history and architecture reflecting Chinese aesthetics of “small bridges, flowing water, and old houses,” Wuzhen offers a sense of timelessness. Known as a “living fossil of ancient Eastern civilization,” it’s a place of deep cultural and historical value.
Often called the “Venice of Asia,” Wuzhen’s winding canals and stone bridges transport visitors back in time to a serene, poetic world.

Rustic Old Town in Wu Zhen
Had the most amazing time at this tourist attraction in 乌镇, the views were just amazing and really you can’t get such nice views and so few people anywhere else. The whole experience was amazing because the place was pretty empty, also because we were there on a Monday morning! The place is huge too and so nice and peaceful! Got more crowded towards the afternoon time. The gondola / river boat ride is a must for the best views with least people in your shots!#wuzhen #wuzhen #China #beautiful

Thought Wuzhen was already beautiful, until I visited Nanxun ✨
Among the many ancient towns in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai, if I were to choose just one to visit, it would definitely be Nanxun. This Nanxun, just half an hour's drive from Wuzhen, and permanently free, really surprised me!
👉 What makes Nanxun different from other ancient towns❓
1⃣️ Connected to residential areas, so there are local residents living in the ancient town, full of local flavor
2⃣️ There are genuine century-old shops in the scenic area, with many locals dining there, such as Longfeng Noodle House
3⃣️ In addition to strolling along the small bridges and flowing water, there are also several Republican-era buildings 🏠 worth visiting in the scenic area, such as the Liu Family's Tihao, Zhang Shiming's old residence, Jia Ye's Book Collection Building, all of which are free.
👉 Travel Information
📍 Nanxun Ancient Town

Transportation: It is recommended to drive by yourself. There are buses from Huzhou High-speed Railway Station, but it is more convenient to come from Wuzhen. You can also take a ride-hailing car.
Dining: There are small local restaurants in the scenic area. You can choose the one with more people. I forgot the name of the restaurant I ate at before.
⚠️ Tips
✅ It is recommended to stay overnight and you can go to Baijian Building to take beautiful night scenes.
✅ The best places for photography are Baijian Building and Cross Harbor Wharf. These two places are even more beautiful at sunrise.
✅ In addition to taking a punt boat, Nanxun Ancient Town also has a water bus, 3 yuan/station, departing every 30 minutes, operating hours: 9:30-16:00, stopping at: Silk Terminal Station - Zhangjing River Station - Lianjie Bridge Station - Cross Harbor Station
✅ If you like ancient towns, you can visit Nanxun and Wuzhen together. It takes 30 minutes by car, and it takes about 1 hour from Nanxun to Xinshi Ancient Town.

Wuzhen Jiangnan Water Town
The first impression of Jiangnan is probably the small bridges and flowing water. Among all the ancient towns in Jiangnan, Wuzhen is the top of the ancient towns in my mind.
Blue bricks and black tiles, the alley is deep and heart-warming. Regardless of rain or shine, as long as you step here and walk around on the bluestone slabs, you will feel as if you have seen the past and present of Wuzhen.
A must-experience cruise in Wuzhen is perfect for seeing the beautiful scenery from a different angle!
The night in Xizha is completely different from the day.
Whether you are sitting quietly by the river or walking along Walking in the ancient town. Just make sure me comfortable.

Back in time in Wuzhen
#2024wish
In 2023, I made a remarkable journey to China, marking my first-ever self-planned trip to Shanghai, Suzhou and Wuzhen. Amidst these remarkable destinations, one place stood out as the crown jewel of my trip: Wuzhen. Picture this: strolling down those old-school lanes, surrounded by charming bridges. It was like stepping into a time machine where the world just slowed down. Meandering along the charming small alleys that runs parallel to the river, I found myself immersed in the beautiful nature and historic sceneries.
For 2024, my deepest desire is to embark on a trip to Jiuzhaigou. A decade ago, I stumbled upon captivating photographs of this enchanting destination, and since that moment, my heart has been set on experiencing its natural wonders firsthand.#wuzhen
Wuzhen, the Night Queen of Zhejiang
Wuzhen is one of the six famous ancient water towns south of the Yangtze River. It’s within the triangle formed by three top tourist cities: Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Suzhou. It has charmingly restored architecture and canals. The charm and the elegance of this ancient water town is undeniable. It is more than 1000 years old town with rich history and architectural elegance. It is about an hour long drive from Suzhou, China. This place is vast and suggested plan would be two days of itinerary with one overnight. You can at least leave with some satisfactions. If you don't try the boat, well your visit here is meaning less. Entrance ticket is 150 rmb and boat ticket one way is 60 rmb per person. Yes, it is bit expensive though but for a AAAAA tourist place, this amount is worth spending.

Wu Zhen; Popular Watertown
Pretty historical scenery, located at South of Yangtze River. it is a great place with old architecture and great history. It’s crowded with tourist and locals, recommend to find a tour guide in case you are lost in the town.
we get to taste their Chinese wine at their wine distillery workshop and able to purchase too! there is also Chinese opera for 30mins in the middle of the town. The town is also famous for their silk production and manufacturing, unlike the modern days, we are able to see the process of making silk by hands and they hang the fabric out under the sun at the open space.
Totally a historical place worth visiting! 👍

Wuzhen's Watertown
#wuzhen #watertown #winter Exploring Wuzhen's Watertown with our sons, Adryan and Wyatt, who were visiting from Indonesia.
It was very cold, but that just made the day more memorable
Emily had her new coat, I had my new hat, and we were all enjoying the crisp air and clear sky.
The cold and the early hour all but guaranteed we were not going to have a crowd. We had two small Thermos of hot water, and that made being outside bearable.

Day trip to Wuzhen water town from Hangzhou
Hired a private driver to bring us from Hangzhou to Wuzhen water town for a day trip. Step back in time to ancient china. Wuzhen water town is separated into two areas. The west and the east. Xizha and dongzha. Each part has it’s own unique style.
Due to time constraints, we picked the Xizha(west). The area is bigger and with more things to see.
We took a river boat to sail thru the lake. We went in the morning and stay for the night lightup.
There’s hanfu costumes rentals around the areas.
There’s chinese restaurants as well as cafes selling ice-creams and coffee.
Worth a day trip! #travelanywhere #wuzhen #hangzhou

Exploring the Timeless Charms of Wuzhen
#Hangzhou #China #Wuzhen
Embarking on a journey from Hangzhou to Wuzhen Water Town was like stepping into a living painting of antiquity. The 85km drive, spanning roughly 1 hour and 30 minutes, transported us to a realm where time seemed to stand still amidst the beauty of Dongzha and Xizha.
The allure of Wuzhen lies in its beautifully preserved ancient structures, which whisper tales of centuries gone by. Walking through the narrow alleys and crossing the picturesque bridges, we couldn’t help but be mesmerized by the architectural grandeur that surrounded us.
However, while the ambiance of Wuzhen was undeniably captivating, the culinary experience left something to be desired. Although the food in the local restaurants didn’t quite live up to expectations, it didn’t overshadow the overall enchantment of our day trip.
In the end, our visit to Wuzhen was a fruitful excursion filled with leisurely strolls, ample opportunities for photography, and a deep appreciation for the rich history and culture that permeates every corner of this ancient water town.
