Discovering a hidden pottery studio in JB
Name: 6 Elephants pottery studio
Address: 25, jalan harmonium 11, taman desa tebrau
(Near Aeon mall in Johor bahru)
I had an amazing experience at 6 Elephants Pottery Studio, where my partner and I attended a pottery throwing class (see our final work at pictures 7-9). It cost MYR$199 per person, but it was totally worth it! They provided us with a total of 6kg of clay to work with, which was quite a generous amount. We were even able to divide it into three separate 2kg projects, allowing us to practice and learn from any mistakes we made along the way.
The teachers at the studio were patient and supportive throughout the class. The environment was clean, and soft music played in the background, creating a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. We didn't feel rushed at all and were able to take our time, spending over three hours there. It was such a relaxing and enjoyable experience.
The price of the class also includes a second visit. After our clay creations dried, we could return to the studio to paint, fire, and glaze our items. This added value made the whole experience even more worthwhile.
In the end, my partner and I decided to take home 4kg of our clay creations each.It truly felt like a great deal. I highly recommend 6 Elephants Pottery Studio to anyone interested in pottery. The experience, the quality of teaching, and the overall environment were exceptional.

Cappadocia’s Famous Avanos Pottery
Cappadocia is known for beautifully handmade and hand-painted ceramics. It is an ancient Turkish art. One of my favorite places is Kapadokya Seramik, a family owned business. It is a quite large location with much to choose from, one piece more beautiful than the next.
At Kapadokya Seramik, they generally make the ceramics in winter, but if you ask, they will likely give you a demonstration any time of year . . . and serve tea!
A recommended lovely place for shop pottery.

If you’re planning to visit Turkey's famed Cappadocia, make sure to stop by Bezirhane Ceramic in Avanos (Nevsehir) to buy handmade pottery or you can learn at their pottery making workshop and to make it yourself.
Avanos is very popular neighbourhood for hand painted crafts for generations of craftsmen’s with the red clay used to create their famous art. Inside the manufacture there is a workshop which showcases and teaches how to make a pottery and yes of course! you can try it with a guidance. Those delicate vibrant and bold coloured ceramics and carpets waiting to be discovered here.
What I bought? A Turkish coffee set (hand-painted)
You have options to buy printed or hand painted items. Prints are relatively cheaper if you just want to take back home little souvenir. 🫖
Prices are varied, try to haggle but be respectful ;)

The Antique, one of a kind pottery house
Looking for a traditional way of pottery apart from the many pottery classes now you see in town, cbd areas? You have to head to Thow Kwang Pottery Jungle located at 85 Lor Tawas, Singapore 639823. This place is abit hard to get to as its located outside of NTU, right before lim chu kang which is quite a deserted place but still worth a visit.
This place which I believe is the one of the only place which I was told that they use a fire blast with extremly high heat to blast the pottery and this will harden the pottery making this more durable and authentic. This is a family business that has been operating since 1965 which makes this place special and must visit.

A look at Guizhou’s amazing pottery. Wow!!!
Guizhou is known for its rich tradition and culture. It is home to one of the most famous minorities in China, and today we explore one of its other specialties, art in the form of pottery. Let’s take this journey together as we have fun and indulge in pottery making. Though it wasn’t an easy task but it was worth it in the end. After a series of trials, I finally made my own bowl and the dirt became a reminder of how much time and effort I had invested into my amazing product. Check it out and enjoy, let me know what you think of my bowl…

Capella earthen art heritage
Address - Capella Hotel, 1 The Knolls, Sentosa Island, Singapore 098297
Capella Hotel is one of the most beautiful establishments I’ve ever visited, with its hallways and spaces decorated with incredible works of art. I love the various earthen ware that dons the surfaces in just about every corner.
My favourite one has to be the traditional Chinese inspired bowl in The Living Room, the hotel’s club lounge of sorts. It is only for display and not for use, but it brought such character to the vibe of the space, which was really unique!
My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Recently when my husband and I did a stay at Capella Hotel, we were pretty impressed by the wide variety of artworks there were all around the hotel!
Not only did they showcase modern sculptures and paintings on the walls, they also displayed traditional artefacts that paid tribute to the local history and culture. It was quite enjoyable walking along the vast hallways discovering and appreciating the different pieces there!

Upon entering the hotel from the designated drop-off point, you will be greeted by an array of exquisite-looking pottery art on a huge glass shelf! It is quite a sight to behold at the hotel lobby as there are so many of these intricately designed works of art displayed.
While we were checking in that day, my husband and I spent some time admiring these art works and the amount of detail in them. If you enjoy pottery art, you should stop by when you’re in the area to check these out!

Chinese clan art
Address - The Clan Hotel, 10 Cross Street, Singapore 048417
What was most fascinating about The Clan Hotel when my husband and I did a staycation there was how dedicated it was to paying tribute to the Chinese clan culture! Located in Chinatown, the art pieces in the hotel reflected the heritage of its neighbourhood.
From the collection of trinkets and artefacts down to the design of the umbrellas, all these had surprisingly elements of Chinese tradition woven into them. Very cool!
My overall rating of the experience: 5 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Design elements
Address - Equarius Hotel, 8 Sentosa Gateway, Sentosa Island, Singapore 098269
Even though Equarius Hotel is not particularly famed for being an artistic hotel, my husband and I found out on our staycation here that there are actually many elements of artistic design here that have been done superbly!
For one, their hallways have no lack of abstract contemporary paintings. Also, they have a lot of interesting pottery art work on their shelves and surfaces. Even the item used to camouflage the aircon vent is a beautifully designed work of art. Come and be surprised at their little-known but very sophisticated art collection!
My overall rating of the experience: 5 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Trinkets galore
Address - Equarius Hotel, 8 Sentosa Gateway, Sentosa Island, Singapore 098269
In many corners of Equarius Hotel at Resorts World Sentosa, you will find interesting trinkets made of various materials! There are those that are made out of clay, of metal and of wood.
The cutest one I found was an owl that stood on the desk of the reception counter! There are also shelves in the building opposite the field where many other collectible art pieces are displayed.
My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

🍚 Doenjang Truffle Risotto, $25+
🍠 Obsessed with Sweet Potato Fries, $12+
🍓 Strawberry Chung Milk, $7.90+
🍠 Sweet Potato Latte (Iced), $7.50+
🌺 Flower Ade, $6.90+
Torta Di Riso Pasta 🍝
Enjoyed the sweet and slightly spicy tteokbokki sauce here which goes so well with the pasta and vegan cheese. Also like the chewy texture of the vegan based squid & shrimp
Grilled Cheese Kimchi Sandwich 🥪
My personal fav. Crispy toast with shredded kimchi and vegan cheese. I like how the kimchi is not too sour and has a bit of spicy kick to it 😋
Doenjang Truffle Risotto 🍚
There is an option to add a sous vide egg which we did. The dish has a prominent mushroom taste but a little subtle on the truffle. As I prefer stronger flavour or some spice, the other 2 mains stood out to me more
Obsessed with Sweet Potato Fries 🍠
Your regular sweet potato fries. Perhaps you can try their less common sides options instead
If you like pretty drinks like me, their strawberry chung milk and flower ade are definitely pretty to look at 😍

Experience pottery from the Pottery Capital of Taiwan! 🙀✨ Yingge Old Street is just a (local) train away. Their serene village is like the ones you see in classic asian movies --warm and calm.
