My new “obsession” this pandemic - staycations!!!!
More often than not, I don’t mind spending money on intangibles - such as hotel staycays or creating memories with friends via eating out (well, still mostly near the hotel vicinity, haha!) or staying in the hotel itself. This pre-2022 CNY weekend, I decided to go “hotel-hopping” by myself for some quality “me-time”.
This post is to share my experience with Sofitel Singapore City Centre, the first hotel I stayed in during my “hotel-hopping” activity.
I particularly liked their safety protocols, aside from the courteous staff, nice ambiance and good facilities.
Their pre-registration process is similar to one of the luxury hotels I went to last year. It allows guests to book a registration time to ensure there is a controlled no. of guests registering at the same time. I chose to register early and book the facilities beforehand. When I arrived at the hotel, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that my room is ready. I was settled in by 12:30PM!
I was able to use both their pool and gym
facilities. Not a lot of people in the pool during the slots I booked. I was also alone in the gym - which made me feel safer since I have lesser chance to catch germs or virus from other people ;) The gym also had sanitizers & tissues to wipe the equipments before and after workout.
A plus for me is their online registration and process to use their facilities - you have to surrender your key card in exchange for another key card to access the pool or gym. This gives me a sense of security and safety in terms of having assurance that there is no over-crowding.
The bedroom is spacious, the bed is comfortable and the bathtub, big enough to accomodate my big frame ;) I slept soundly as the room had good sound-proofing - I cannot hear noise from the pool below or the hallway.
I’ve heard of 1864’s high tea so I tried it with a friend. So good, try it! (I will write a separate post for this :))
My 3D2N stay was well-spent and I truly enjoyed my solo staycation (even if I worked from the hotel on the 31st). If you’re staying for more than a day, try not to have all the breakfast side dishes on the first day. The menu is the same (well, it is, in my case) so this way, you have variety.
I hope this post guides you if you are looking for venues for your #staycation :) I recommend this hotel, value for money!
