Iceland’s stunning glacier lagoon
This attraction is approximately 380 kilometers from Reykjavik.
This time I came here as part of a local one-day tour.
Admission is theoretically free, but there is a fee to park your vehicle.
When you come here, you can see the glacial lake just by standing on the shore, but of course, after coming all the way here, it is definitely recommended to take a boat trip, because you can enjoy the multi-angle appearance of the floating ice.
Boat tours are available for an additional fee and there are two options:
1) Amphibious vehicle, fee: 6700ISK for adults; 3300ISK for children aged 6-12.
2) Inflatable boat, cost: 14900ISK for adults; 7500ISK for children aged 6-12 years old.
This time we chose an amphibious vehicle, with about ten people per vehicle. The staff will provide life jackets for us to put on when we get on the boat. However, the life jacket had a sour smell, which made my friend and I feel a little uncomfortable🤢.
The boat ride takes about 40 minutes. Everyone is first arranged to sit on both sides of the boat, and then when the boat slowly stops, the staff will introduce the resume of Binghu. Another employee of the inflatable boat who had been following us picked out a large piece of crystal clear ice in the lake for us to have a super close encounter with, and then let everyone circle around to slowly appreciate the beauty of the ice lake.
This is a place you must not miss, it is truly indescribably beautiful! !

My trip to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon in Iceland was absolutely surreal! 🌊 Located about 5 hours from Reykjavík, it’s a journey through otherworldly landscapes before you arrive at this incredible glacier lake. There’s no entrance fee, and you can park right next to the lagoon. Watching the massive icebergs drift lazily on the water with the Vatnajökull Glacier in the background felt like something out of a dream. The ice has this dazzling blue color, especially when the sun hits it just right!
I highly recommend taking a boat tour, which gets you up close to the icebergs and seals swimming nearby! 🛶 It costs around €40-50, but totally worth it to experience the glacier’s majesty up close. Just standing there, watching these ancient chunks of ice float by, you feel the power and beauty of nature. I also visited Diamond Beach, right across the road, where smaller icebergs wash up on the black sand. The contrast between the ice and sand is stunning! 💎
Nearby attractions include Skaftafell National Park, perfect for hiking lovers, and Svartifoss Waterfall, which has those iconic basalt columns. If you're looking for a magical and unique experience in Iceland, Jökulsárlón is a must-see!

Visiting Jökulsárlón was like stepping into another world! 🌍 This stunning glacier lagoon in southeastern Iceland is a must-see. I got there around mid-morning to catch the light glistening off the icebergs, which float serenely in the deep blue water. There’s no entrance fee, so you can simply drive up, park, and explore. The first sight of those giant ice chunks drifting towards the Atlantic left me speechless. 🧊 The lagoon is surrounded by black sand beaches, and I even spotted some seals playing near the icebergs!
The best part of my visit was taking a boat tour on the lagoon (around 6,500 ISK), which brought me up close to the icebergs. Being out on the water, feeling the cold air, and hearing the ice crack was magical. It was like a scene out of a movie! 🎥 The boat guide was informative, telling us all about the glacier’s history and the formation of the lagoon. Don’t forget to check out Diamond Beach nearby, where icebergs wash up on the black sand shore, glittering like jewels. 💎
Afterward, I drove a bit further to Vatnajökull National Park, where you can see more of the glaciers and take some incredible hikes. The scenery is out of this world, and it really makes you appreciate the raw beauty of Iceland. 🏞️ If you're a fan of nature and unique landscapes, Jökulsárlón should definitely be on your travel list.

Encounter sea lions and swim in "Iceland's Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon"
On the second day after arriving in Iceland, after hiking the icebergs, we went to the glacier lagoon!
🚙It takes about 40 minutes from Skaftafell to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon🚙 ~ 38.9 kilometers
The weather is very good, and you can enjoy the panoramic view of Vatnajökull glacier, with huge ice floes floating on the lake, shining brightly.
The Jökulsárlón glacier was formed by the melting of Lake Vitra Glacier. The lake was filled with melted ice from the glacier, forming a spectacular glacial lake landscape. There are icebergs of various sizes floating in the lake, some of which even tower into the clouds, and the lake water presents a unique azure color
Suddenly, two sea lions appeared in the lake. They swam freely in the lake, attracting the attention and lenses of all tourists. This sudden surprise made people's eyes brighten, and everyone picked up their cameras to capture this rare moment.

Visiting Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon in Iceland was one of the most breathtaking experiences of my summer vacation! ❄️ Located in southeast Iceland, this stunning glacial lake is filled with floating icebergs that make for an incredible sight. The entrance to the lagoon is free, but if you want to take a boat tour among the icebergs, it costs around €50. 🚤
The contrast between the shimmering blue ice and the dark volcanic sands is absolutely mesmerizing. We also took a short drive to the nearby Diamond Beach, where the icebergs wash ashore and sparkle like diamonds on the black sand. 🌟
The whole area is a photographer's paradise and offers a peaceful, otherworldly experience. If you’re visiting Iceland, Jökulsárlón is a must-see!
