Car lot was full but enough in overflow. Great to see sheep and lambs. Took my partner and I five hours return. That includes stop throughout to see the views & sheep, 20 minute stop at the view point and 20 minutes at the top for lunch. Would recommend going in the morning when the wind is at its lowest. Would recommend for sure.overall this place is awesome
Addington Coffee Co-op
#newzealandtrip
Really big space. Best french toast l've ever had and I've had heaps. The high didn't last for long as the lamb sausage roll was extremely dry and hard.
Couldn't cut through it and biting it was leathery.
Drinks were all fine and at the right temperature.
Service and atmosphere were just fine, it's quite dark. Lots of other chch cates I'll be heading to next time before returning here.

Belle Cafe
#newzealandtrip
Fantastic breakfast. The staff were amazing and the cabinet food was well above what I was expecting. Portions were huge!! My one suggestion is to improve the chicken filo by making it creamier and removing the pine nuts inside. I wasn't expecting that consistency when taking a bite.
Would definitely return next time we're in Christchurch.
☺️☺️☺️
Under the Red Verandah
#newzealandtrip
Absolutely beautiful place. The people here are just amazing. It's a hidden gem and I highly recommend you go check them out. The food is worth every penny. So much flavour, colour and ingredients. Chef really knows their stuff. Ask the staff for recommendations if you're stuck, their suggestions never disappoint. They have plenty of outdoor seating. A dog friendly place as well.
During peak hours I would recommend you call for bookings.

Kaiate Falls is a hidden gem just outside Tauranga, offering a serene escape into nature. The series of cascading waterfalls is stunning, especially after rainfall. #newzealandtrip
The National Aquarium of New Zealand in Napier is an absolute treat for anyone interested in marine life. Napier’s Art Deco architecture is one of the city’s greatest charms. After the 1931 earthquake, Napier was rebuilt in this distinctive style, and walking around the city feels like stepping back in time. I joined a guided Art Deco tour, which helped me understand the unique design and history behind the buildings. The pastel-colored façades and geometric patterns are stunning, and it’s easy to see why Napier is considered the Art Deco capital of the world. Whether you’re an architecture enthusiast or just appreciate beautiful buildings, this is a must-do in Napier.

Pencarrow Upper Lighthouse
#newzealandtrip Fantastic views. Beautiful New Zealand at its best. The rolling hills, exceptional coast lines. Not only a great walk or cycle ride, but also the opportunity for diving and fishing, picnicking or just enjoying the lovely scenic views.. Around the boardwalk up the other side. It's a great circuit. The views from the lookout above the lake are spectacular, the history is cool. The is a super rare dendraglyph if you know where to look.
Highly recommended.
Elms Mission House
#newzealandtrip
The Elms Mission House is a fascinating glimpse into Tauranga’s early colonial history. As one of New Zealand’s oldest buildings, it’s beautifully preserved and surrounded by lush gardens. The guided tour was insightful, offering stories about the missionaries and the house’s role in the region’s development. The library and artifacts are impressive, giving a sense of life in the 19th century. Even as a traveler with limited knowledge of local history, I found the experience engaging and educational. Hamilton Zoo
#newzealandtrip
Hamilton Zoo is an underrated gem for animal lovers. It’s smaller than some major zoos, but that’s part of its charm—it feels intimate and well-curated. The enclosures are spacious and mimic natural habitats, and the animals seem healthy and well-cared for. Highlights for me were the free-flight aviary and the chance to see a kiwi up close! Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, offering insightful talks. There are plenty of shaded spots and picnic areas, making it perfect for families. It’s not just a zoo; it’s a great place to learn and connect with wildlife. Highly recommend for a relaxed day out.
The Fort Ballance
#newzealandtrip Really nice fort that gives you hints of those almost-war days, full of mazes and colourful graffiti-covered bunkers. One of those special places with energies that take you back in time and make you relive for moments what it must have been like. Needless to say, the views of the bays are just memorable. No wonder why they chose this spot. Totally recommended.
Hamilton Gardens
#newzealandtrip
Hamilton Gardens is a must-visit for any traveler. It’s not your typical garden—it’s an experience! Each themed garden feels like stepping into a different country or era. The Italian Renaissance Garden is breathtaking, while the Japanese Garden exudes tranquility. Everything is meticulously maintained, and entry is free, which is a huge bonus. Overall, it’s a serene escape and a visual treat that will leave you in awe.
The Point Halswell Lighthouse
#newzealandtrip Famous Wellington landmark. Easy to find and parking within metres of it. Part of the picturesque drive around the bays with many sites and stops along the way. The surrounding area is serene, making it perfect for a relaxing outing or a quiet moment of reflection.
The Massey Memorial
#newzealandtrip Fantastic place to visit. Beautiful spot with an amazing memorial to a special PM. Make sure you walk up the hill from the memorial to checkout the WW2 bunkers. Easy family walk. Great photo opportunities with beautiful architecture, landscape views over the harbour and the city and lots of flowers and bugs in season. Parking is fairly limited and not well sign posted. It’s just south of the lighthouse.
Fox Glacier Viewpoint / Te Kopikopiko O Te Waka
#newzealandtrip This place, though easily missed will probably be one of the best spots to admire the beauty of glacier country. You see the top parts of Fox glacier and Mount Tasman and i think even Mount Cook (New Zealands second highest and highest mountains) in the background and the green meadows of the west coast in the front. By car it is just a few minutes from the intersection to Lake Matheson at the start of the gravel road to the Gillespies Beach. Also in good reach if you rent a bike in Fox Glacier village. Well worth visiting.
The Cape Reinga Lighthouse
#newzealandtrip Historical site. Beautiful location. Tip of New Zealand. Closest point to Sydney Australia, New Caledonia, and Fiji.
The Cape Reinga Lighthouse, perched at the northernmost tip of New Zealand's North Island, offers breathtaking panoramic views of the meeting point between the Tasman Sea and the Pacific Ocean. It holds cultural significance for the Maori people as a sacred site where spirits depart for the afterlife. Visitors can marvel at the rugged coastal landscape, witness the stunning natural beauty, and experience the spiritual aura of this iconic landmark.
Lemon Tree Cafe
#newzealandtrip
Lemon Tree Cafe's charm lies in its rustic ambiance, but for those seeking modern aesthetics, the cluttered interior might not appeal.
However, the vintage décor exudes a cozy vibe.
Despite the dated furnishings, the delightful staff and aromatic coffee make it a worthwhile spot for a laid-back brunch.
Come and enjoy the vibe and try the foods ☺️
Foundation Cafe
#newzealandtrip
I flew in and feeling starved at 2pm. The winter drizzle stops me to adventure further, so I walked into a library, voila! The foundationcafe is located on Ground floor. Lots of locals here, book and coffee go well together. Fantastic staff, logical layout, a pity that kitchen closed around 2pm, but I am very happy with my food and ginger lemon tea. I like the way they "alphabeted" the tables. I wish Auckland central library can learn from here.
I returned the next day for.breakfast and lunch. I love the cheese scone- definitely one of best I had for three years. Fish of the day was lovely.I bought a couple of badges, nice addons to sweaters, apparently made by one of staff.
Untouched World Kitchen
#newzealandtrip
Untouched World Kitchen is a hidden gem that only locals know about. Particularly busy for Sunday breakfast and brunch, make sure you book in advance! Food is great, just delicious and never disappoints. Service and organisation could be better as wait time are sometimes terribly long, but at least you get rewarded with delicious, healthy and fresh food. Try Vegan Hippie Bowl! It's a must ! Portions shrunk recently for some reason, but it's still yummy! We always look forward to coming back
Child Sister
#newzealandtrip
Grill kimchi sandwich: sooo good. Made even better that the kimchi wasn't overripe (sour) and all the flavours were on point. Also special shoutout to the sourdough bread used - incredibly flavourful
Kimchi Omelette Egg rice: when this arrived my little one said she should have ordered that instead of sandwich. I knew it was her favourite so l ordered it intentionally ... and we swapped plates.
She ate every grain of rice and left the plate clean.
Also helped that she's been without rice for 2 weeks during our travels in NZ
Gochujang shakshuka: another winner, while the sauce isn't spicy as other places that l've had, what really made this dish special were the meatballs.
