Anime street
In this basement corridor stretch of shops, almost all of them specialize in selling Japanese comic character merchandise. My friend brought us here to experience the vibrant culture along this street. These shops have various items like figurines, cups, plush toys, key chains and many more, quite a good place to buy a souvenir for friends who enjoy these. It was a bit crowded, which wasn’t the best shopping experience. Prices of the items were also fairly expensive.
My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Tokyo in 5days
Its not tooo late to filled up your bucketlist!
Y.O.L.O. Tried Tokyo , Japan.
Heres some tips if your planning to visit
Tokyo, Japan
My Iterinary
Day 1: Shinjuku
Day 2: Shibuya, Harajuku, Meiji Shrine
Day 3: Asakusa, Tokyo Skytree, Ginza
Day 4: Whole day tour to Mt. Fuji
Day 5: Shimokitazawa and Roponggi
All about 🇯🇵:
- 🍣🍤🍥🍜 ➡️ For your food budget, you can have a decent meal for 900 yen or 415 pesos per meal. And they have big servings too so you won't be hungry that easily.
- 🚉🚄🚆 ➡️ Their trains/subways are efficient and they are the cheapest mode of transportation when you want to go around Tokyo
- 🚉🚄🚆 ➡️ Narita Express train to and from the airport is a must so you don't have to transfer to other train lines while you are carrying your luggages. It has less stops, goes directly to the airport and is always on time so you don't have to worry about being late for your flight! You'll get a discount if you'll buy their round trip ticket
- 🚉🚄🚆 ➡️ Purchase Welcome Suica Card and just reload for train/subway rides. If your phone has NFC, download the app Suikakeibo. Just tap the card at the back of your phone and the history of your card usage and the current balance will be shown in the app. It's super handy, you don't have to check your balance in the card machines. You'll know right away if you need to reload your card
- 🗺️ ➡️ Use Google maps for directions. It has live train schedules. It will also tell you which train station you need to ride, the line you need to transfer to and the exit you need to take
- 💹 ➡️ For your pocket money. I recommend you get your Yen in PH before going to Japan. They don't have many money changers there. Unlike HK or South Korea. You will usually go to banks or withdraw in atms to get Yen which is not safe. I suggest to plan and estimate your budget per day so you'd know how much Peso you'll convert to Yen. And also have some extra cash budget in case of emergency.
- 👫Japanese people are generally respectful and honest so it's safe for solo travelers
- 🌳🌸 Despite of the modern city, they have gardens where the people really go to and gather and have picnic
- 💱 Check if the store you are in has a tax free counter. It will definitely save you cash because it will slash the 10% tax off of your purchase
- 💳 Some shops also have additional 5% discount for Visa card holders
- 💼 In the airport check-in counter, they strictly follow the baggage allowance in your ticket. So be mindful of that before you shop 'til you drop in Japan. If you plan on shopping there I suggest you purchase additional baggage allowance for your return flight because it's cheaper than paying for excess baggage
You can tweak the itinerary based on your likes and interests. Check also the opening/closing hours of the attractions, parks and restaurants in advance so you won't waste your time going to places that are closed.

Sunset Viewing at the Shibuya Sky
#meettokyo
Finally, we got to cross the famous Shibuya crossing - the business crossing in the world!
Visited the Shibuya Scramble Square which houses the Shibuya Sky. This has been open to the public since 2019. It is a 360 - degree open-air observation deck located on the roof of the Shibuya Scramble Square skyscraper, the tallest of all the buildings in Shibuya.
You can see everything through the glass floors and walls so it is really a huge achievement if you are able to conquer your fear of heights visiting this place.
People also patiently wait to watch the beautiful sunset.
To visit, you can purchase tickets online or at the ticket counter. I got mine for ¥1,800.
Best Capsule Hotel in Japan!
Definitely the best capsule hotel at Japan! The property is so clean and cozy! The capsule pod design is very modern and futuristic!
The Share Bathroom was unbelievably clean and very spacious too! They even provide pyjamas, towel and basic amenities, just like you are staying a normal hotel!
All the “roommates” was quiet and respectful each other during our stay! Although sometimes you can hear some snoring, but overall was ok. Highly recommended for solo traveller or group of friends too! Really like the concept and the vibe of this amazing capsule hotel! Will be back in the future!

A place that have everything for everyone!
Ikebukuro is a leading shopping and entertainment area in Tokyo, compare to shinjuku or ginza, this place have more locals than foreigners! It is very busy Area & popular for its shopping malls, shopping street and the huge anime-inspired departmental store!
It’s very easy to access this area via public transport, but the metro station is huge and please make sure which area you heading to!
There are 3 huge department stores, Tobu, Parco and Seibu at Ikebukuro. Shopping is really good at this part of Tokyo! We spend 1 full day explore this area, and we love it! Next trip we will consider to stay here!

No one should miss this seafood paradise!
A MUST visit attraction when you visit Tokyo! Tsukiji Market offer delicious & super fresh seafood that everyone will enjoy!
There are so many stalls that sell different seafood, sushi, raw oysters, grilled scallops and etc! I love the grilled scallops and oyster it’s so juicy and sweet! And watching the stall owner hawk & grilled the seafood is satisfying to watch, haha. There is a stall that sell really good coffee as well!
Highly recommend to visit this market if you like sea food, although I have been here many times, but every time I visit I still can find new surprises! Remember to come with empty stomach ya! Haha

Totally Tokyo
#meettokyo
I have always wanted to go to Japan and i am happy that finally in August 2016 i was at the rising star country. I have also read how cool the city is with advanced technologies and gadgets plus the abundance of theme parks.
Me and my friends started our Tokyo journey with 3 visits to Disney Sea, Disney Land and the awesome Fuji Q Highland. We really had fun riding all the thrill rides and the kids in us were very obvious. Met the Disney characters, stayed for the parade until night and enjoyed the food there.
Shibuya crossing was cool and busy. there were so many people commuting on the public transport and we also tried shikansen. we were totally mesmerised by the city

For who that addicted to Matcha! Hahaha
If you are addicted or crazy about matcha!! This shop is the place to visit! Suzukien Asakusa serve different degree of the matcha icecream, based on the flavour intensity!
We get a 2 scoops Combination of the strongest matcha and Hojicha! The strongest matcha tasted bit bitter but it’s so so so smoothly and the hojicha flavour is rich with tea scent! Both flavour are really nice, strongly recommend!
The downside will be, sometimes the queue is quite long. Our experience is the queue was long but it move quite fast!
Don’t miss this shop if you visit Asakusa Shrine, it just minutes walk from it.

The Tokyo
The Tokyo Sky Tree is a fantastic tourist attraction that cannot be miss when you visit Tokyo, Japan! Easy to access via public transport, just on top of the metro station and a giant mall.
It’s an awesome place to see the entire Tokyo cityscape from high up, literally like seeing from the Sky! The views during daytime give you a view of the vast metropolis that is Tokyo, if your luck is good you can see Mount Fuji as well! The night view is kinda stunning as well!
After visited Skytree tower, you can spend some time at the Skytree town shopping and entertainment complex. Lots of unique shops, restaurants, and attractions to explore!

Retro cafe that take you back in time!
I really love the retro atmosphere offer by this this old vintage coffee shop. With the Victorian style dark furnishings and classical music playing in the background, it’s just amazing…feel like you are back to the 60s or 70s!
The service is quite good and attentive. Coffee blend is great too, most of their coffee bean they use are dark roasted one. The variety of coffee they are offering is just fantastic! Cake is quite good too and not to sweet.
The only downside is the smell if cigarettes, because they allow their customer to smoke in-store.
Love this old-fashioned cafe so much! Just feel special here! love it!

Magical Tokyo Disneyland
#meettokyo
This Disney themed park is just like no other. I have been to Disneyland Hongkong but the vibes here is so extra. Everything here is so scenic and picturisque! There are a lot of show options for you to choose from.
Tickets can sometimes go on sale so you need to catch up for promotions if you want to get a bargain for your trip. Food and drinks are available in restaurants inside the park but can be a bit pricey. Souveneirs are really cute and good quality but can also be a bit pricey.
This place is recommended for all especially kids who love to see their disney characters up close and feel like they are living their disney dreams. You can come dressed up in disney costumes too if you want.
Seafood market
Getting here can be quite tricky, especially if you are planning to come early in the morning. One tip is to stay at a hotel or accommodation within walking distance from the market so it is easy to make your way here.
For the fresh seafood that is straight out of the fisherman’s net onto your table, it is totally worth it. Stalls along the Tsukiji Outer Market sell dishes like tuna, salmon, lobster, clams and all sorts of catch from the sea. You will really taste the freshness of the food that is truly like no other.
My overall rating of the experience: 5 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Japanese lantern restaurant
One of our friends whom my friends and I met in Japan recommended coming to this lantern restaurant for dinner. It had really interesting decor and a floor plan layout that I haven’t seen in most restaurants on this trip. The entrance was actually blocked by a whole screen of lanterns presumably for the customers’ privacy dining inside.
Tables were also hollowed into the ground and separated by tall wooden structures for maximum privacy. The food on their menu is also quite unique. On top of the usual Japanese fare, there were dishes like whale meat and beef tongue, which was pretty delicious if you don’t think about what you’re eating!
My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Epic Japanese stationery
Address - Itoya Stationery Shop, 2-Chome-7-15, Ginza, Chuo City, Tokyo 104-0061, Japan
Coming to Japan, one must not miss out on checking out the incredible Japanese stationery shops. Their designs are phenomenal, from slick and ergonomics designs to super cute and fun ones too. Based on its website, it is actually a 100-year-old brand founded in 1904, plus they have multiple levels of endless stationery to explore. The prices are considerably upmarket though so we had to choose our indulgences wisely.

Standing sushi bar
Address - Uogashi Nihon-Ichi Standing Sushi Bar, 2 Chome-9-1 Dogenzaka, Shibuya City, Tokyo 150-0043, Japan
This inconspicuous standing sushi bar served my friends and I some of the best sushi we’ve ever tasted. When we entered, the restaurant space was small and packed with customers, it really felt like an eat-and-go kind of restaurant.
The chefs were right in front of us crafting each piece of sushi before serving it on a green long leaf in front of us. Everything tasted really good and it was fairly affordable too.
My overall rating of the experience: 5 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Famous tuna fish auctions
This is one of the best places in Japan to get your freshest servings of amazing fish and seafood. If you can afford to be an early riser, come in the wee hours of the morning to catch the lively tuna auction where these prized fish go to the highest bidder.
Otherwise, do still aim to head down way before 11am as that’s when many of the good restaurants and stalls have sold out their produce. There is also a wet market for locals to do their grocery shopping. So envious that they have fresh fish right on their doorstep!
My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ichiran Ramen @ Shinjuku Tokyo
#meettokyo
One of my favourite ramen chains in Japan is Ichiran Ramen, and even though there are usually long queues, we always go to the branch in Shinjuku, Tokyo!
I love Ichiran Ramen because I like how I can customise the ramen noodles, the pork slices and even the toppings, as well as the soup base.
Servings are decent in terms of portions, and service is efficient. It makes for an affordable meal too. They also close pretty late at night, so it is an option for supper as well!
My rating?
I give it - 3.5 ⭐️ / 5!
Shibuya crossing
Address - Shibuya Crossing, 2 Dogenzaka, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo 150-0043, Japan
If you come to visit Tokyo Japan, one of the must-visit places is the Shibuya crossing! Crossing the road in itself is an experience, especially in the night when all the billboards and signs are brightly lit up. Or if you prefer less crowds and people in your photo, you can choose to go earlier in the afternoon.
Getting here is straightforward, simply exit the Shibuya Station Hachiko. Another cool vantage point to watch the action from above is one of the coffee houses located on the higher floors of the buildings nearby.

Hotel in a train station
Address - Tokyo Train Station, The Tokyo Station Hotel, 1-Chome-9-1 Marunouchi, Chiyoda City, Tokyo 100-0005, Japan
Tokyo Train Station is an extremely large railway station that actually has two wings, one on the west side Marunouchi and the other on the east side Yaesu. As one of the busiest stations serving multiple rail networks, it makes sense to have a hotel connected to the station!
Tokyo Station Hotel is located in the Marunouchi Station building and has rooms overlooking the inner courtyard of the station itself. Quite an interesting view to see the commuters going to and fro from the comforts of your own room.

One of my best stay at Tokyo!
I love this hotel so much!!! Remm Roppongi by far the best hotel in Tokyo area I've stayed! The price is reasonable but the experience you get from this Hotel is just incredible! Located near to metro station, at quiet & peaceful part of Roppongi! I can’t leave without WiFi, and their connection was really good!
Rooms are clean and comfortable. The toilet and bathroom are perfectly equipped. Don’t miss the breakfast, it has nice variety between Japanese & western style dishes! All dishes taste so good and the quality of the food is just exceptional!
I don’t how to express my love towards this hotel! Just wish I can go back as soon as possible!

Japanese pavilion gardens
In many pockets of spaces between buildings and attractions are these beautifully manicured Japanese gardens. The trees here look so unique and peaceful, with soft draping leaves that hang over calm ponds and lakes. This garden that we visited even had a bamboo pavilion for passers-by to rest, providing shade and areas to sit down.
Depending on when you come to visit, do bring an umbrella to take shelter from sudden showers of rain or in garden spaces that don’t have enough shade.

Harajuku district
Address - Harajuku, Jingumae, Shibuya City, Tokyo 150-0001, Japan
What a sight to behold when visiting one of Japan’s most renowned districts, Harajuku! I love the busting atmosphere here, it seems that most of the crowds are teenagers. Many of them are also dressed up in really hipster and quirky ways, some in cosplay outfits too.
The shops here also mainly sell pretty outrageous fashion statement pieces. It is a great place to come to just to experience the vibrant culture and interesting sights.
My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Tokyo night scenery
There is something amazing about walking the streets at night in Tokyo. You get to see a different side of the city, especially with all the night lights and signboards being brightly lit and a different mood in the crowds.
Eateries and roadside stalls here are still open way into the night so you can always head out for a walk and then grab some food at any point. Many of these are family-run shops as well so there’s that cosy sense of familiarity and hospitality when you dine there.

Japan’s favourite Pokémon
Who doesn’t love the anime series characters from Pokémon? They are incredibly adorable and never fail to make me go “aww” whenever I see them. When I walked past this Pokémon Centre shop, I just had to go in to take a look!
They had shelves and shelves full of Pokémon plush toys that come in so many different sizes. The prices are not cheap though, a small keychain can set you back about $15-$20 already. There are also life-sized Pokémon figurines around the shop to take photos with.

Iconic Sensoji Temple
Address - Sensoji Temple, 2 Chome-3-1, Asakusa, Taito City, Tokyo 111-0032, Japan
Sensoji Temple is the oldest Buddhist temple in the capital and spans a massive five-storey height, really impressive and commanding presence. This temple holds a lot of historical significance to Japan and was apparently painstakingly rebuilt after being destroyed during World War II.
Now, it plays hosts to tourists and locals alike who come to pay this respects and also enjoy the many stores lined up along the path to the entrance.

Champion Ramen - Ichiran
#meettokyo
The champion of Japanese Ramen. Every trip to Japan must be accompanied by at least one trip down to woof down this delicious goodness.
Super unique experience. Quick ordering from vending machine. Ramen is available in various types such as miso, shoyu and Salt ramen.
The ramen is so great!! Highly recommended. Had to lineup during peak hours but the waiting time is short, partly because of the fast service n partly because of the restricted n confined dining environment that would make you want to leave as soon as possible.

Totoro collectibles
Totoro is a super cute rabbit-like character that was created as part of a Japanese film in 1998 and had since gained a whole lot of popularity all over the world. This shop here in Shinjuku is a haven for Totoro fans as they sell all things related to the characters of this film.
You can choose from items like pouches, socks, mugs and keychains. There is even a stand-up display of the iconic scene where Totoro is at the bus stop, where you can snag that perfect photo opportunity.

Japan homestay
My group of friends and I stayed at this affordable yet spacious property that has a grand total of 3 storeys worth of space. It could comfortable accommodate seven of us, although there were only two bathrooms in the entire location. There was also a functional kitchen area where we could boil water and cook basic dishes.
It is quite a convenient location as it is a few minutes walk to the nearest train station. Along the way, there are tons of vending machines in the alleys and shops on the streets.

Tokyo ‘s Oldest Temple
#meettokyo
Tokyo's oldest temple, also known as Asakusa Kannon Temple) is a Buddhist temple located in Asakusa. Awesome place to go see. A must go destination in Tokyo. A long shopping street leading to the temple is nice for photos or souvenirs. I was amazed on my first visit the temple by the great structure and traditional design. It is a touristy place. Shopkeepers speak English.
Highly recommended!!
