A city of tranquility with many cafes. It's not very busy here, and you can either walk or cycle around. There are rental bikes available along the way. When I visited, there were few people. The advantage is that there are buses to various cities easily, whether to Shinjuku (Tokyo) or Kamikochi. You can also go to Hakuba. It's a great hub for traveling. Walking around the city, there are old temples and a relaxed atmosphere.

One of our memorable places visiting Japan this time. I based at Matsumoto to have a day trip to Kamikochi as we didn't want to change hotel so often. So I looked up and found this place. It takes 1-hour train ride from Matsumoto to Nagano station. Take another bus ride to get us to Togakushi upper shrine and BAMM! A nice stroll to Togakushi shrine with 400-year-old Cedar tree. #nagano #Togakushi #matsumoto #shrine #cedar
