🇦🇺 Fanstastic Restaurant and Bar in Shorncliffe, Queensland, Australia
#magicalxmastrip
💞Reasons to Recommend: Queensland Cruising Yacht Club has the stunning waterfront view of the Cabbage Tree and Nundah Creek Rivers alongside beautiful yachts and greenery. They also have outdoor and indoor dining areas with plenty of space. Surprisingly, it was not busy on a Saturday morning. But still, we suggest booking a table in advance to secure a good spot. The big breakfast is appetizing and affordable. I also love their hot chocolate. Although we had to wait for a long time for the food to arrive, we enjoyed our meals and the overall atmosphere of the place is amazing!

Port Fairy: A Coastal Escape Under the Stars and Sunrise
#outdooradventures #australia #victoria #portfairy
Located on the southwestern coast of Victoria, Port Fairy is a charming seaside town that captivates with its rich history and natural beauty. Founded in the early 19th century by European settlers, this historic village once served as a whaling and sealing hub before becoming a fishing and trading post. The town’s well-preserved 19th-century architecture reflects its vibrant past, and today, it’s celebrated for its peaceful ambiance and maritime heritage.
Located along the iconic Great Ocean Road, about 290 km from Melbourne, Port Fairy boasts a population of just over 3,000 residents, making it an idyllic escape from the hustle and bustle of urban life. With its scenic coastal views, wide sandy beaches, and tranquil river, it’s no wonder Port Fairy is a popular destination for those seeking relaxation and adventure alike.
Among the must-visit attractions in Port Fairy is Griffiths Island, where you can spot the historic lighthouse while observing local wildlife, including wallabies and migratory birds. The Port Fairy Folk Festival, held annually, draws crowds from across Australia for its eclectic mix of music and arts. For history buffs, the town’s well-preserved bluestone cottages and grand public buildings offer a glimpse into colonial life.
Port Fairy is renowned for its stunning stargazing opportunities. On clear nights, the Milky Way stretches vividly across the sky, offering unparalleled views of constellations. The absence of light pollution in the area ensures that visitors are treated to a pristine celestial display. For early risers, the town’s coastline provides breathtaking sunrises over the Southern Ocean, with the soft hues of dawn casting a magical glow over the water and sandy shores, creating the perfect backdrop for a serene morning by the sea.
Marysville State Forest: A Wilderness Retreat in Victoria’s Heartland
Nestled in the stunning Yarra Ranges, Marysville State Forest offers a picturesque escape into nature just 100 kilometers northeast of Melbourne. This serene forest is known for its lush, mountainous landscape, a tapestry of eucalyptus trees, ferns, and waterfalls that has attracted visitors for decades. With its rich history and variety of outdoor activities, Marysville State Forest is an ideal destination for adventure seekers and nature lovers alike.
Historically, the area around Marysville was occupied by the Taungurung people, an Indigenous group who lived off the rich land and waterways. European settlement began in the mid-19th century during Victoria’s gold rush, with Marysville established in 1863 as a stopping point for miners traveling to nearby goldfields. The town flourished as a logging hub in the early 20th century, but by the 1920s, its natural beauty made it a popular tourist destination. Today, the town and its surrounding forests have become a gateway for exploring Victoria’s rugged wilderness, despite suffering significant damage during the Black Saturday bushfires in 2009.
Marysville State Forest is a haven for outdoor activities. Hikers and bikers can explore the scenic trails that wind through the forest, offering everything from leisurely walks to challenging climbs. The Lady Talbot Drive is a must-see, where the tranquil beauty of Taggerty River and spectacular waterfalls like Phantom Falls, Keppel Falls, and Steavenson Falls can be admired. The latter is one of Victoria’s highest waterfalls, with an impressive drop of 84 meters, and is especially stunning when illuminated at night.
For those looking to immerse themselves in the local wildlife, the forest is home to an array of species including lyrebirds, wombats, and wallabies. Birdwatching is a favorite activity, as many native species can be spotted in their natural habitat. The forest also offers great opportunities for fishing, particularly in the Steavenson River, where trout can be found.
Key places to visit around Marysville State Forest include the Bruno’s Art & Sculpture Garden, which showcases whimsical sculptures nestled within the greenery, and the nearby Lake Mountain Alpine Resort, popular for skiing and snowboarding in winter. Marysville itself is a small, peaceful town with a population of around 300, making it an ideal base for those looking to unwind and reconnect with nature.
At just under two hours’ drive from Melbourne, Marysville State Forest is a perfect day trip or weekend retreat, offering a refreshing break from city life. Whether you’re exploring its waterfalls, hiking through its trails, or simply enjoying the tranquillity, the forest is a true gem in Victoria’s outdoor landscape.
Helicopter Views, Boat Vibes, and Whitehaven Bliss!
Had an amazing day on the Whitsunday Islands + Whitehaven Beach + Hill Inlet Day Tour + Flight with OceanRafting from Airlie Beach. Highly recommend it! The pick-up was on time, and we started the day with a scenic helicopter ride over the Great Barrier Reef. I especially loved when the pilot counted down as we approached the Heart Reef—it was breathtaking!
After the flight, we were taken to the water cruise where the fun began with snorkeling. Wet suits, snorkels, fins, and either a noodle foam or life jacket were provided. The crew was so patient, especially with anyone who wasn’t comfortable in the water.
We then enjoyed some thrilling rides between spots with pump-up music blasting—it really added to the excitement! After that, we did a short trek to Hill Inlet, offering stunning views of Whitehaven Beach from three platforms. The different shades of blue were incredible. I spent a bit too much time on the platform and didn’t get to take as many photos at Betty’s Beach, but the white sand and clear waters with fish swimming around were unforgettable!
We had about an hour and a half to enjoy Whitehaven Beach—not as stunning as Betty’s Beach, but the white sands and beautiful surroundings made it perfect. All in all, such a fun and well-organized tour!

Golden Horizons: St Kilda Beach at Sunset
St Kilda Beach, a vibrant gem of Melbourne, is renowned for its stunning sunsets that cast a golden glow over the shimmering waters of Port Phillip Bay. Located just 6 kilometers south of Melbourne’s Central Business District (CBD), it’s easily accessible and makes for a perfect evening escape.
As the sun descends toward the horizon, St Kilda transforms into a canvas of breathtaking colors—fiery oranges, soft pinks, and deep purples reflecting off the tranquil waters. The beach is framed by palm trees and the iconic St Kilda Pier, offering an ideal spot for photography or simply soaking in the beauty. Along the shoreline, families, couples, and friends gather, creating a lively atmosphere filled with laughter and joy.
The surrounding area is just as captivating. A bustling promenade lined with cafes, restaurants, and boutique shops invites visitors to enjoy local cuisine or sip on a refreshing drink while watching the sunset. You can indulge in everything from fish and chips to gourmet pizzas and artisanal ice cream, making it a delightful culinary experience.
For those interested in a bit of adventure, the nearby Luna Park, an amusement park with its vintage rides, adds a playful touch to your visit. The historic wooden roller coaster is a must-see, adding a nostalgic vibe to the evening.
Transportation to St Kilda Beach is straightforward and convenient. From the CBD, you can catch tram number 96 or 16 from various points, including Bourke Street and Collins Street. The ride takes about 30 minutes, providing a scenic journey through Melbourne’s vibrant neighborhoods. Alternatively, rideshare services and bicycles are popular options, allowing for a more personalized approach to your trip.
As the sun sets, the beach becomes a perfect backdrop for evening strolls along the shore or relaxing on the soft sand. The calming sound of waves crashing, combined with the stunning visual spectacle, creates an unforgettable experience. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, witnessing the sunset at St Kilda Beach is an enchanting way to conclude your day in Melbourne.
Exploring Grampian Victoria: Nature’s Majestic Playground
The Grampians region in Victoria, Australia, is steeped in a rich Indigenous heritage, primarily associated with the Gunditjmara and Jardwadjali peoples, who have called this area home for thousands of years. The region was named the Grampians in 1836 by Major Thomas Mitchell, who was struck by the striking resemblance of the sandstone mountains to Scotland’s Grampian Mountains. Since then, the Grampians have transformed into a beloved destination for nature lovers, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts, offering breathtaking landscapes, diverse wildlife, and significant cultural experiences.
Located approximately 260 kilometers (about 161 miles) northwest of Melbourne, the Grampians National Park is easily accessible for day trips or weekend getaways. The park spans over 167,000 hectares and features a dramatic range of sandstone mountains, deep gorges, and lush valleys. Visitors are treated to a paradise for exploration, characterized by towering cliffs, wildflower-filled plains, and cascading waterfalls, making it an ideal location for outdoor activities such as hiking, rock climbing, and wildlife observation.
One of the must-visit highlights of the Grampians is Mackenzie Falls, one of Victoria’s largest and most spectacular waterfalls. A short drive from Halls Gap, the falls are accessible via a well-maintained walking track that leads to various viewpoints. The most popular route takes you to the lookout platform, where you can witness the impressive cascade plunging into a tranquil pool below. For those looking for a more immersive experience, the steep descent to the base of the falls offers an up-close encounter with the natural beauty, surrounded by lush vegetation and the soothing sounds of flowing water. The falls are particularly stunning in spring when the water flow is at its peak and the surrounding landscape is adorned with vibrant wildflowers.
Another iconic spot is the Grampians Lookout, which offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Located just a short drive from Halls Gap, this easily accessible lookout provides a stunning vantage point to appreciate the rugged beauty of the Grampians, especially during sunrise or sunset when the landscape is bathed in golden light. Additionally, don’t miss exploring the many walking trails that lead to hidden gems such as the Pinnacle Lookout and the serene Boroka Lookout. The Pinnacle offers a rewarding hike with spectacular views over the Victoria Valley, while Boroka Lookout is a perfect spot for a picnic, offering stunning vistas without the strenuous hike.
Also, Grampians are home to diverse wildlife, including kangaroos, emus, and a variety of bird species. Visitors can also explore cultural sites that highlight the region’s Indigenous history, such as rock art sites and interpretive centers. With its proximity to Melbourne, Grampian is an outdoor lover’s dream.
Surf day at the beach!
Learn to surf at Surfers Paradise Beach with any of the surf shops along the area! The waters here are quite clear and beautiful, plus the sand is white and powdery soft.
The surf shop we went with was the Go Ride A Wave. Instructors were great and patient, helping us navigate the board and waves.
Many shops and restaurants are right at the beachfront so if you need a bite or drink, it is very easily accessible.
My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This restaurant is located in rock town. Easy walk to/from Circular Quay (it's right behind the Museum of Comtemporary Art). Take a short walk to the nearby Overseas Passenger Terminal for a spectacular view of the Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge.
The portions are very large, delicious. All dishes are fresh and incredibly tasty. The service is a little too slow..
