Dresden: the Biggest Hidden Gem City in Europe
Speaking of travel destinations in Europe, we can easily come up with a list of ten to twenty European cities, but most of our lists would not contain this name: Dresden.
Torn and burnt to ashes during WWII, Dresden has since undergone a series of reconstruction, under which I genuinely felt the phoenix has reborn. The entire city area, despite small, had incredibly intricate architecture and decorations. It has a lot of classical/baroque influenced architectural details, to a point it doesn’t feel so much like a typical German city like Cologne/Stuttgart/Munich but England/Paris.
Every corner feels like a photography material, but too bad, it was rainy all day during my visit. Highly recommending one to throw Dresden to their to-visit list, even just for a day trip.

Solo Travel Dresden Accommodation Recommendation
If you want to travel to Dresden alone and save some money but don't want to stay in a hostel sharing a room with others, you can consider staying at a&o Dresden. This is a single room with its own bathroom, so you don't have to worry about sharing with others. I personally recommend it, and it's not too far from the train station, within walking distance. Very good.
Watching the sunrise at Dresden train station.
Traveling from Dresden to Berlin in Germany, I woke up early in the morning to catch a cheaper train. When I arrived at the train station, I happened to see the sunrise, which was a pleasant surprise besides saving on the fare. The train station in the morning wasn't too crowded, so it didn't feel scary. Watching the sky gradually brighten with the sunrise along with the train tracks had a unique charm.
Dresden's best
Dresden, the capital of Saxony region in Germany is absolutely fantastic with all the historic buildings perseved in the city centre. Many of them actually were destroyed during the Second Word War, but thankfully later on they were rebuilt, so even today we can enjoy this precious baroque and rococo style.
The Zwinger is under renovation right now, but the Frauenkirche and the Royal Palace are in great condition. They would form my top 3 best places to visit there.

The Procession of Princes in Dresden, Germany
The Procession of Princes is a famous mural located in the city center of Dresden, Germany. It's a must-visit spot for anyone traveling to this city. This mural is one of the longest ceramic murals in Europe and depicts the procession of Saxon princes and kings from the 12th to the 19th century. It was created by a Venezuelan ceramic manufacturer between 1907 and 1908 and miraculously survived the bombings of World War II. The mural is an important tourist attraction in Dresden and represents the rich history and culture of the Saxony region. Composed of over 20,000 hand-crafted ceramic tiles, each tile is meticulously painted and then fixed onto the mural. This unique ceramic technique makes it a precious cultural heritage.
Explore the Historic and Culturally Rich Eastern European City - Dresden
Today, let's introduce how to spend a day in the eastern German city of Dresden. Dresden is a city rich in history and culture, with many old European buildings. For a one-day tour, you can explore the old town area. Here's a suggested itinerary:
Morning: Visit the stunning Zwinger Palace, which is surrounded by beautiful buildings. You can spend a lot of time taking photos here.
Noon: Stroll through the old town streets, visit famous churches and the renowned artwork 'Procession of Princes.' Don't forget to try the famous chocolate shops in Dresden, and then head to the Brühl's Terrace to watch the sunset.
Afternoon: Attend a European opera at the Semperoper to complete a perfect day.
A treasure of Art and Architecture.

During my time in Berlin, I had heard so much about the artworks and architecture in places like Dresden. It was just a matter of planning the trip. Luckily on a certain weekend two of my friends joined me. This was a good two hour drive from Berlin. If i was to do this trip solo, I would have looked up the bus timings. Turns out there are some comfortable connections in the morning.
With the weather slightly rainy and the grey hue of baroque styled architecture in Dresden, it adds such a mysterious sort of element to the look. The sight of this city in the evenings was lovely, when all street lamps were turned on and this being December the Christmas decorations. Part of our plan was to see the old masters picture gallery. But we were not lucky that day as it was closed on maintenance.
So, for the next trip Raphael’s “Sistine Madonna” will be a high priority.Other than that we went about seeing the innumerable monuments spread mostly over the old town of Altstad and the new town Neustadt.
Moving on we saw the opera house, the Frauenkirche, the Schloss castle, the cathedral, and the Zwinger all situated not far from the majestic river Elbe. Other interesting sights that i would recommend are the Neumarkt, the Altmarkt, the Brühlsche Terrasse, Königstrasse in the Neustadt, the Yednize tabac factory.

The Many Attractions In Dresden Germany
Dresden Germany also known as Florence on the Elbe is popular for the many art and antique collections, the old historic buildings where you are able to see the imprints and carvings of somewhat similar to the Italian architecture that reminds me of the colosseum or even the many cathedral all around Italy.
One of the oldest building here is the dresden castle said to be at least 400 years old. It is amazing how such structure is still standing tall and strong, same goes for the older buildings which somewhat has the same similar architecture as the castle.
The few landmark that you should go to is the Dresden Zwinger, the Frauenkirche Dresden, the royal Palace and the procession of princes. All these attractions are located in my photos. Don't miss this out when visiting Germany, this is some historical knowledge that you can't get from other places.

A few photos from around #dresden. The first is next to the Academy of Fine Arts with the Frauenkirche in the background. The second photo is a cool near mint condition Trabant I saw near the train station. Trabbis as they were known in East Germany were very much the standard sort of card you'd find behind the Iron Curtain. Today owning one is very kitsch.
