A Royal Feast: Dining at Blue Elephant Bangkok
Dining at Blue Elephant in Bangkok was an extraordinary experience that transported me straight into the heart of Royal Thai cuisine. From the moment I stepped inside, the elegant setting, inspired by traditional Thai culture, set the tone for an exquisite meal. The restaurant's attention to detail, with its regal décor and charming ambiance, made every moment feel special.
The menu, a celebration of authentic Royal Thai flavors, offered a perfect blend of spices, herbs, and fresh ingredients. Each dish was expertly crafted, with rich textures and delicate flavors that took me on a culinary journey through Thailand. The highlight of my meal was the Tom Yum Kung, a tangy and aromatic soup bursting with the perfect balance of heat and sourness.
The service was impeccable, with the staff attentive and knowledgeable about each dish's history and preparation. I left feeling fully satisfied, not just from the delicious food, but from the overall experience. Blue Elephant is a true gem for anyone seeking a taste of Thailand's royal culinary heritage.

The Museum of Floral Culture in Bangkok
#magicalxmastrip #bangkok
Thailand’s deep love and connection with flowers is well-known, and who doesn’t adore the orchids that are found everywhere across the country? I’ve previously written about the flower and vegetable market Pak Klong Talat, where you’ll always see an abundance of flowers, but beautiful floral arrangements can be spotted throughout the city and across Thailand.
The Museum of Floral Culture was created by Sakul Intakul, an internationally renowned Thai floral artist. It is especially designed for those who have a passion for floral art, as well as for those interested in Thai art and culture, with a particular focus on Thai floral culture, which plays a significant role in the Thai way of life.
The museum itself is a treasure trove for anyone fascinated by flowers. You’ll find exhibits showcasing the art of flower arranging and the deep cultural significance flowers hold in Thai traditions. Many aspects of daily life in Thailand—festivals, ceremonies, and even personal celebrations—are often accompanied by intricate and meaningful floral displays.
Currently, Sakul has arranged beautiful exhibitions at Siam Paragon and Icon Siam, in honor of the King’s birthday on July 28th. These exhibitions are a beautiful example of how flowers are celebrated in Thailand, with displays that reflect the nation’s artistic talent and devotion to floral beauty.
The Museum of Floral Culture opened in 2012 and is certainly worth a visit. It offers not only a glimpse into the world of floral artistry but also a deeper understanding of how flowers are integrated into Thai culture. The museum is housed in a lovely building with a cozy café where visitors can relax and enjoy the surroundings. Whether you’re an art enthusiast or just someone who appreciates the beauty of flowers, this museum is a must-see during your visit to Bangkok.
Akara Sky Hanuman Bangkok – One of the Newest Rooftop Bars in the City
#magicalxmastrip #bangkok
Akara Sky Hanuman is one of Bangkok’s newest high-rise rooftop bars, located on the 61st floor in the central part of the city. The views are incredible, offering stunning perspectives of Bangkok in multiple directions, which is, of course, a key factor when visiting a rooftop bar.
The drinks I’ve tried are decent, and the staff is friendly. However, the experience feels a bit impersonal when you have to scan a QR code and view the menu on your phone. The music is fine but nothing extraordinary.
The bar promotes itself as “The world’s first and highest Thai-inspired rooftop bar and dining.” To align with this, they offer various Thai shows, including a Muay Thai boxing performance. Personally, that’s not something that draws me to a rooftop bar, but I can see how it might appeal to tourists.
There’s no entrance fee, but you are required to purchase a drink. Prices start at the now-standard 500 baht for Bangkok, with some signature cocktails costing even more.
Maybe I’m a bit spoiled when it comes to rooftop bars, but this one doesn’t quite have the right vibe for me. Still, I plan to visit again soon to see if my impression changes. While it doesn’t make my top-20 list of rooftop bars, it’s definitely worth a visit for the view and unique concept!
Old Other Office Bar – A Bangkok Classic!
#magicalxmastrip #bangkok
Bangkok is becoming more modern by the day! It’s often out with the old, in with the new—a mix of good and bad. While I appreciate both, there’s something special about hanging out in old, classic restaurants and bars. Sadly, they’re disappearing fast…
A brilliant example of a historically interesting bar is Old Other Office Bar, which opened in 1969. It’s one of Bangkok’s oldest bars still standing today.
This place could also be considered a “speakeasy” bar, as it’s a bit tricky to find. Tucked between a couple of go-go bars on the infamous Patpong Road near the Surawong Road end, it’s a hidden gem with a rich history.
The bar was a CIA hangout during the Vietnam War. Much of its original décor remains intact, and the walls are adorned with old photos and memorabilia, making it fascinating to explore. The current owner, Mrs. Thum, has been running the bar for over 40 years, often with help from her daughter. Regulars fill the space, playing pool or darts, or simply enjoying a beer. Mrs. Thum herself is a charismatic figure who likely has countless old stories to share.
For anyone wanting a taste of old-school Bangkok, this bar is a must. A couple of beers, some pool, and a dive into history—it’s a Bangkok classic worth experiencing!
Shudaxia Hot Pot & Bar at MBK!
#magicalxmastrip #bangkok
Earlier this year, a massive new restaurant opened on the same floor as the food court in MBK Center. It’s called Shudaxia Hot Pot & Bar, and it’s a stunning place. The décor is stylish, and the setup feels upscale, making it a welcome addition to the MBK dining scene.
However, I’ll admit that Chinese hot pot might not be my first choice when it comes to dining out. But I’m starting to think this could be the kind of place that’s best enjoyed with a group of friends. After all, the joy of hot pot is about sharing the experience, experimenting with the variety of ingredients, and enjoying the interactive nature of the meal. Maybe gathering a group and diving in together will reveal its true charm.
One thing that really caught my attention is their late-night hours—they stay open until 3 AM. That’s a rare find in this area, where nightlife options are still somewhat limited despite the recent rise of bars and clubs nearby. I’m tempted to return one evening to soak up the late-night atmosphere and see how the vibe changes after dark.
If you’re a fan of hot pot or just looking for a stylish spot to try something new, Shudaxia Hot Pot & Bar might be worth checking out. Who knows? It could become one of MBK’s hidden gems for late-night dining and socializing.
BTS Skytrain – 25 Years! 🚆
#magicalxmastrip #bangkok
A few days ago , on December 5, marks 25 years since the inauguration of the BTS (Bangkok Mass Transit System), and what a game changer it has been for Thailand’s capital. When it first opened, the system had 23 stations. Over the years, with several expansions since 2009, there are now more than 60 stations. 2009 was also the year the first station on the other side of the river opened, kickstarting a wave of condo developments on the Thonburi side.
With the combined network of BTS, MRT, BRT, and SRT, getting around Bangkok has become relatively easy.
The long-discussed unified travel card, the Mangmoom Card (mangmoom means spider), still feels far away, but perhaps it will eventually become a reality.
The arrival of the BTS has undeniably elevated and developed this megacity, even if it took decades to materialize after talks began in the 1980s. It’s worth remembering that Bangkok once had a well-developed tram system, which was dismantled in the mid-1960s to make way for the increasing number of cars.
Since its launch on December 5, 1999, the BTS has carried a staggering 4,344,579,610 passenger trips (as of December 3). I have posted a few of my photos of the BTS to celebrate this milestone!
🇹🇭 Have a Zeed by Steak Lao
#bigbuddhabangkok
It was our first time to Have a Zeed by Steak Lao and we decided on this place for dinner just purely because of the long queue. The turnover was fast as we got our table after about 15 minutes of waiting. Of course I had to order my favorite Som Tam and the Som Tam here didn’t disappoint! The Som Tam was perfectly balanced with tang, spice, and sweetness.

Cup Bridge, Benchamabophit Temple Bridge
Wat Benchamabophit has a small canal with 3 bridges crossing the canal: Phra Rup Bridge, Thua Bridge, and Nga Bridge.
Thua Bridge is in the middle. There is a plaque inscribed with the history of the bridge, which says:
“This bridge was built with money from the purchase of gold-patterned teacups for the royal cremation ceremony, which King Chulalongkorn graciously granted to be sold at a stall at the temple in R.S. 119. He donated the money from the teacups to this bridge, so he named it Thua Bridge. It was completed in R.S. 121.”

Review AddiCt เสพติดรีวิว One night in Bangkok
Bangkok at night is an entirely different world - electric, vibrant, and full of life. The city’s skyline lights up, and the streets buzz with energy as food vendors, neon signs, and lively markets take center stage. I was captivated by the mix of modernity and tradition, from chic rooftop bars to bustling night markets like Asiatique, where you can shop, eat, and enjoy the riverside view.
The aroma of street food fills the air, and the atmosphere is charged with excitement, whether you’re exploring lively neighborhoods like Sukhumvit or enjoying the quiet charm of temple-lit streets. Lumphini park - my peaceful escape in the heart of Bangkok
Lumphini Park left me with a sense of calm amidst the bustling energy of Bangkok. It’s a refreshing green oasis where city life feels a world away. The serene lakes, winding paths, and open spaces make it perfect for a leisurely stroll or morning exercise.
I loved watching locals practice tai chi, joggers weaving through the paths, and families enjoying picnics under the shade of towering trees. The park’s resident monitor lizards add a touch of uniqueness, quietly coexisting with visitors.
Lumphini Park isn’t just a place—it’s a pause button for the city’s constant motion. A visit here feels like a breath of fresh air for the mind and soul.
