Chinese Independence Day at Han Yuan China in Kaifeng
Today, I had the privilege of joining the celebrations for Chinese Independence Day at Han Yuan China in Kaifeng, an event filled with pride, unity, and joy. As I stood among friends and colleagues, I couldn’t help but reflect on the significance of this day for China, a country with such a rich history and vibrant culture. The atmosphere was alive with patriotism and the spirit of togetherness, making it a truly memorable experience.
Celebrating here in China as a PhD candidate at Zhengzhou University, I felt honored to witness and be a part of this national moment, recognizing the strength and resilience that has shaped this great nation. It’s a day that will remain close to my heart as I continue to embrace the culture and people who have made me feel so welcome.

Golden Sunset at Red Bridge: A Perfect End to a Day at Millennium City Park

I meet the beautiful sunset beside the Hong Bridge at Qingming Riverside Landscape Garden after a full day of wandering through its scenic pathways. The soft golden hues of the setting sun cast a warm glow over the water and the ancient-style architecture, creating a perfect moment of tranquility. After spending the entire day exploring, encountering such a breathtaking sunset fills my heart with joy and contentment, making the experience all the more memorable.
Opening Ceremony Extravaganza: Catch the 9 AM Show at Kaifeng Prefecture Gate Plaza
#chinatrip #kaifeng #Ceremony #henan
When visiting Kaifeng, it's essential to start early. After breakfast, head to the Kaifeng Prefecture Gate Plaza to secure a good spot for the "Opening Ceremony and Welcoming Guests" performance. I personally recommend arriving at least 20 minutes in advance, as the area gets crowded with tour groups, even during the off-season. The best part is that you can enjoy this lively show for free, even without purchasing a ticket to the Kaifeng Prefecture. Don't miss it!

Stepping Back in Time: A Full Day in Kaifeng's Qingming Riverside Garden
#chinatrip #100waysoftravel #kaifeng
The attraction I was most excited to visit in Kaifeng was the Qingming Riverside Landscape Garden. We arrived early in the morning and stayed until closing, completely absorbed in the experience. The highlight was watching the spectacular "Dream of Tokyio" performance, which brought the Song Dynasty to life. I even rented a Hanfu, and with so many others dressed in traditional attire, it felt like I had truly traveled back in time to the Song era. The park's atmosphere was enchanting, with its rich historical charm, affordable and varied food options, and countless performances that kept us entertained all day.
Kai Feng Ancient City Wall: From Least Expected to Most Unforgettable Experience
The Kaifeng City Wall, located in Henan Province, was originally built during the Tang Dynasty and is the second-largest ancient city wall in China, after the Nanjing City Wall. Despite being damaged by wars and floods, the wall has been rebuilt multiple times, with five layers of ancient walls buried beneath the current structure.
The west gate of the ancient city, known as "Daliang Gate," was first constructed in 781 AD during the Tang Dynasty and was later called Changhe Gate during the Northern Song Dynasty. These historical layers and cultural richness give Kaifeng a deep sense of history and charm.
🚨🚨🚨
This guide is perfect for history enthusiasts and hikers. The Kaifeng City Wall is 14.4 kilometers long, but only the western section from Daliang Gate to Anyuan Gate is open.
✅From Daliang Gate to Anyuan Gate, it's about a 5-kilometer walk, taking roughly 2 hours. For those who prefer not to walk, shared bikes can be rented on the wall by scanning a QR code.
✅Upon entering from Daliang Gate, you can watch a documentary called "Ancient Horse Path," which uses virtual reality to showcase the ancient ruins.
✅After the documentary, exit to the left to ascend the city gate. Every half hour, there's a 720-degree immersive show, "Micro Dream of Daliang Gate," which covers Kaifeng's history from the Xia Dynasty to the Northern Song Dynasty's peak and beyond.
✅As you walk north along the wall (the south side isn't open yet), signs detail Kaifeng's history in chronological order. History enthusiasts will find familiar figures and events, along with real historical remains like tamped earth layers and ballistic ruins.

Traveling to Pao Bunjin (Kaifeng)
🧧 Thai people who like Chinese movies would probably know Judge Bao of Kaifeng Court, and certainly, many would want to see the actual historical site. The Judge Bao Memorial is one such place that is worth visiting at least once.
🌟 If you want to delve deeply into history, the ticket area offers the option to walk with a guide who will narrate the history of each site. However, this time we chose to go without a guide because we stopped to take photos all along the way, as the views are very beautiful.
🌟 We visited during December, which was very cold, with snow as well. I would recommend that those planning to visit choose a time when it's not too cold, as there is a lot of walking to do.
🌟 Overall, I think Kaifeng is worth visiting at least once because it's beautiful and full of interesting stories. Plus, the place is easy to navigate, visually clean, and fun. 😚

This area was kind of wild because it was so busy. I went there on a very cold weekend and there’s nothing stopping the locals here from serving delicious food and paying attention to shoppers. Friendly and full of energy. Lots of street directions which are endless. There’s also some hidden gems down other side streets. 📍Address: Sihou Street Nearby, Gulou

Kaifeng Ancient City Wall
Today, I had the incredible opportunity to visit the Kaifeng Ancient City Wall, a true symbol of China’s rich history. Walking along its massive, weathered stones, I couldn’t help but feel a deep connection to the past, imagining the countless stories these walls have witnessed. As I gazed over the city from the top, the blend of ancient heritage and modern life struck me with awe. It was a humbling reminder of how civilizations rise and endure, and how, even today, we can experience echoes of the past through such remarkable structures.
