Lamma Island felt like a different place entirely! It was the perfect contrast to the chaos of Hong Kong 🏙️ 🏝️ 🗓️Itinerary Scheduling: We were staying in Aberdeen so took the ferry from there to the fishing village of Sok Kwu Wan. It took about 40 mins and cost around HKD 12. Try to time it to have lunch at one of the many seafood 🦞 restaurants by the pier! After eating, we took the well-signposted 5km Lamma Island Family Walk trail to Yung Shue Wan. It took about an hour with plenty of stopping, and the path took us past the Kamikaze Cave as well as some small island villages. At times, the views were outstanding! We were tempted to stop for a while on the beach as we passed it, but continued on to Yung Shue Wan. Once there, we stopped for iced tea for a rest, explored the small town and got a passenger ferry back to Aberdeen from there (about HKD 24)⛴️ 💞Reasons to Recommend: The island is tranquil and laid back, it seems far removed from the city! It is beautifully western decorated with red brick walls and hanging old time photos of Hong Kong. Lamma Island takes the hectic day out of Hong Kong. I can't tell that it's worth seeing but if you have already visited the most famous sightseeing in Hong Kong and wanna be distracted from crowded places for a bit , you can take a ferry at the Pier 4 from the Central station to Lamma island . it will take you 40 minutes to go there . the island is a little bit dirty itself , especially the beach 😞 but the view is still picturesque . the only problem you might face is a queue on the way back , we didn't expect that , because during our walk on this island we met just few people , where they were hiding we have no idea 😂 , probably they were saying in the seafood restaurants next to the piers 🤭 #hongkong #travelhongkong #travel #beach #wildbeach #rocks #nature #sea #lammaisland

Octopus card can be used to pay for ferry ticket and even food on the island. be sure to top up the octopus card. i don't see any cars on the island. people walk or bike.

Taking the ferry to Lamm Island was very convenient. Especially since I had the Octopus Card which works the same as Singapore's Ezlink card. Just need to make sure you have sufficient balance in the card. Otherwise, boarding the ferry is easy, tap the card at the gantry and you're ready to go. A small tip on where to sit on the ferry. If you'd a good view of the cityscape, sit on the left side. There are also outdoor seats available to enjoy the sea breeze for the ride. #lammaisland #ferryride #hongkongisland
