The Cambridge University Press Bookshop consider the oldest bookshop site in the United Kingdom. Their books have been sold since at least 1581. They sell varieties of books such as reference materials, journals, study materials and many more. Business Hours: 10am - 5.30pm (Monday to Saturday) and 11am - 5pm (Sunday) I want to travel to Hong Kong to explore their bookshop.

There are big sofas for comfy quiet moments. The ambiance is very peaceful and cozy. There are available books to read or you can buy. They only serve cold drinks. No snacks or sweets. The staff are nice. It's in the same building of Shenzhen Book City beside Children's Palace and Civic Center. First floor are restaurants and shops. Imagine walking into a medieval church and instead of the usual thing, you ended up surrounded by thousands of books in Dutch and English, well this is the Dominicanen bookshop in the heart of Maastricht in the Netherlands 🇳🇱 Well, this became one of my favorite bookshops that I visited in 2019 during that trip to Europe and it has been in my memory ever since, so I recommend it to anyone who is visiting the city. Book Xcess MyTown

This bookstore is the biggest BookXcess bookstore I have ever visited. I loved the interior design that made me feel like I wanted to stay in the store for hours. I am impressed that bookshelves were curated and artworks displayed on selected walls for purchase. I also noticed there was a Japanese restaurant and a cafe located inside the store, which to me is convenient if readers want to eat after browsing for books, stationaries, artwork and board games. There was also enough space for people to come and work or study, or even hang out. And a piano is placed inside the store to allow anyone to play it publicly, which is super cool! Garden Books - Shanghai

A coffee shop in a random street of Shanghai isn’t exactly something unusual but Garden Books is different. As you enter there’s a florist with a cafe and an abundance of old style books. The drinks are a little more expensive, a juice costs 40RMB but the atmosphere is calm and relaxed. Not another boring bookstore!🥳📚🔖✨

Tired of boring bookstores? No worries 😁 Let me introduce: Zhongshuge! This amazing bookstore is visually appealing with its mirrored ceilings creating this reflective illusion of symmetry, an oval room with stepped shelves lined with lights underlining its shape and a kid’s reading room with a rollercoaster inspired interior! 📚🎢🪞 In the centre, there’s a corridor with tables and bookshelves on both sides. There’s also a coffee bar where you can grab a coffee and sit around with a book. I saw people working on their laptops, but I wouldn’t personally recommend as the bookstore was pretty crowded and pretty noisy. You can easily feel overwhelmed with people constantly on the move around you as the bookstore isn’t so big. Most books are Chinese books. Some books have English titles but they were translated versions. Columbia O: A magical bookstore

Columbia Circle is a heritage building complex located in Yan’an area. Tsutaya Bookstore is a very popular Japanese bookstore. Located in the center of the buildings complex, and resembling more a museum than a contemporary bookstore. This is the only Tsutaya Bookstore in Shanghai. Tsutaya offers two floors of coffee shops (3), a small crafts and many books to buy from. Architecture is breathtaking. Terrace was close in our visit. To enter the bookstore you need to make reservation, don’t be surprised if next available spot is in a week time. Light Space: A Bookstore by Tadao Ando

Located in the massive Aegean Place Shopping Center is Light Space Xinhua Bookstore. An amazing place to relax, this space was designed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando with the goal of creating a place where people, books, and culture can intermingle. Over 4000 square meters in size, the pristine environment features wood fittings and tall, arched shelves packed with books. The 7th floor is an open area where you can take in a full view of the whole store. Tables are set up around the store’s coffee bar and students can often be seen doing homework and studying. Next to the coffee bar are stairs leading to the 8th floor, where the high bookshelves are set against a blue, starry sky, creating a spacious area that almost appears to have light coming in directly from the outside. The first branch of its kind to open in Shanghai, Tsutaya Books 📚 can be found in Columbia Circle in a villa that used to be the residence of Sun Yat Sen’s son. The store has been open for a just couple of months but has already taken Chinese social media by storm. A number of unique books can be found in Tsutaya - many of which we haven’t really found at other bookstores. Among them, there’s a particularly large selection of books related to art, as well as architecture and design. There’s also a small section of books in English. The store’s interior is characterized by narrow hallways and old fashioned woodwork, offering a contrast to many of Shanghai's newly opened, ultramodern stores. It’s worth a visit even if to just check out the architecture. Sculptures and other pieces of art can be found scattered among the shelves and shelves of books. A café can be found on the first floor just as you walk in. On the second floor, you’ll find a restaurant with Japanese-American style fusion cuisine. Try out dishes like gyoza hot wings , beer steamed mussels, and cheese ebi chili. Cocktails with literature-inspired names are also on the menu, like Between Calmness and Passion and Theory of Relativity. A meal with drinks will average out at around CNY300 per person. In all of its splendor, this bookstore is quite popular among locals looking for the next insta-worthy shot. Located not far from Fudan University is used bookstore that looks nondescript from the outside, but is full of hidden gems. In business for over 20 years, Fudan Secondhand Books has two floors and countless stacks of used books 📚📚📚. The fun of the experience is rummaging through the shelves or the piles of books on the floor (and steps leading up to the second floor) in search of a book that piques your interest. You’ll find books covering topics ranging from engineering and history to poetry and comics. Due to its location next to some of Shanghai’s most well-known universities, you’re sure to run into a few students and professors during your visit. While many of the books are in Chinese, some foreign language books can also be found. Prices are often cheaper than Taobao. I was walking HoeHyeon shopping centre and I happened to find out a wall of books. A secondhanded bookstore that I never imagined in Korea the lover of shoppers! Inside the corridor is so narrow that there can only fit one person! But many books I have not discovered inside. And don’t think there only lies Korean books.
