Feitian Mountain National Geopark
Feitian Mountain in Chenzhou is a paradise on earth that leaves visitors enchanted.
The park features unique Danxia landforms, with mountains and rocks displaying vibrant red hues that contrast beautifully with the emerald green river, creating a stunning 'red rocks and green water' landscape. The mountains stretch endlessly, with peaks connected and ravines crisscrossing, showcasing both exquisite craftsmanship and grand magnificence. The Ming Dynasty traveler Xu Xiake once praised Feitian Mountain, saying 'Every inch of land is beautiful, and every mountain is unique.'
The Cui River in Feitian Mountain is picturesque, with clear waters winding through the mountains. In the early morning, mist often rises from the river, as if draping the landscape in a thin veil, creating a scene similar to the misty Xiaodong River. Visitors can take a boat ride and feel as if they are in a fairyland.
The park not only boasts captivating natural scenery but also rich historical and cultural heritage. Ancient temples hidden in the mountains exude a sense of antiquity, allowing visitors to appreciate the beauty while also experiencing the profound history and Buddhist culture.
Additionally, Feitian Mountain offers diverse tourist experiences. Visitors can hike up the mountains, enjoying the various unique rocks and vegetation along the way, marveling at nature's craftsmanship; they can also take a sightseeing bus for a leisurely tour of the park; or experience the thrill of water rafting, enjoying the cool river and summer fun.
Yuntai Mountain Scenic Area
Yuntai Mountain is a great place to visit because it has both mountains and water. The most famous spot is the Red Stone Gorge, with its stunning red cliffs and clear waters. The Tanpu Gorge is known for its numerous springs, waterfalls, and pools, such as the Lover's Waterfall and the Yazi Waterfall, which are quite interesting.
The Quanpu Gorge is famous for the Yuntai Heavenly Waterfall, which is 314 meters high and very spectacular (the water flow is larger in summer).
Another highlight is Zhuyu Peak, named after the fragrant Zhuyu plants that grow all over the mountain. Climbing Zhuyu Peak is not just about seeing the plants, but also experiencing the misty clouds that surround the mountain, which is why it's called Yuntai Mountain!
There are many buses within the scenic area, making it very convenient to get around. There are also many accommodations, including homestays and hotels. Overall, it's a great place to stay, and where we stayed even offered free hiking poles. The largest and busiest service area is on the shore.
Maijishan Grottoes
The Maijishan Grottoes hold significant historical, artistic, and cultural value, making them a must-see attraction!
There is a distance from the entrance to the site, but the scenic area offers shuttle buses that can take you directly to the grottoes with a ticket purchase. If time and physical condition permit, it takes about 20 minutes to walk there. The statues in the Maijishan Grottoes have compassionate, kind, and serene expressions. The murals are rich in content, vibrant in color, and have smooth lines.
The existing nine imitation wooden cliff buildings were carved during the Northern Wei to early Tang periods. While viewing the murals and statues, you can also enjoy the beautiful scenery. Unfortunately, some of them have weathered over time, and their appearances have become blurred. It's a pity we couldn't visit earlier!

The Forbidden City in Beijing: Ancient Palace Complex Re-listed as World Heritage in 2024
The Forbidden City in Beijing served as the imperial palace for twenty-four emperors during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Located on the central axis of Beijing, it was initially constructed in the fourth year of Emperor Yongle's reign (1406) and completed in the eighteenth year (1420). It is the largest and most well-preserved ancient palace complex in the world.
The Forbidden City covers an area of approximately 720,000 square meters, with a building area of about 150,000 square meters. It consists of over seventy palaces and more than 9,999 rooms. The complex is rectangular, measuring 961 meters from north to south and 753 meters from east to west, surrounded by a 10-meter-high wall and a 52-meter-wide moat. Each corner of the wall features a beautifully designed corner tower, famously described as having 'nine beams, eighteen pillars, and seventy-two ridges,' highlighting its intricate structure.
The layout of the Forbidden City strictly follows the imperial city planning principle of 'front court, rear market, left ancestral temple, right altar,' with the three main halls (Hall of Supreme Harmony, Hall of Central Harmony, and Hall of Preserving Harmony) at its center, clearly distinguishing the outer court from the inner court. The outer court was used for state ceremonies, while the inner court served as the residence of the emperor and empress. The architecture of the Forbidden City features various roof styles, predominantly yellow tiles, with green tiles used for the residences of princes and other colors for gardens or decorations.
On October 10, 1925, the Palace Museum was officially established, becoming the largest museum of ancient cultural and artistic heritage in China. In 1987, the Forbidden City was listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. In 2024, the Forbidden City in Beijing, as part of the 'Central Axis of Beijing: A Masterpiece of the Ideal Capital Order of China,' will be re-listed as a World Heritage site.

The Ethereal Charm of White Sand Lake
Embark on a journey to witness the true face of the Pamir Plateau. Just over a hundred kilometers west of Kashgar lies a lake so stunning it's almost unbearable to gaze upon - White Sand Lake📸👍💯.
White Sand Lake is devoid of aquatic plants, and there are no trees around, just the pure white sand and the azure purity of the lake water📸🌹.
Nestled at the foot of the pristine White Sand Mountain, the sand attached to the mountain glistens with a metallic sheen under the sunlight📸💯👍.
In the distance, the Pamir Plateau is surrounded by the vast snow-capped mountains📸💞, and under the blue sky, the fluffy clouds drift gently📸🪻, intertwining with the snow mountains and White Sand Mountain📸❤️. Half blue and half snow-white👍, reflected on the azure lake surface, it feels like an ethereal mist👍📸💕, like a fairy veiled in gossamer, elusive to the eye💮🥰.
Wensu Grand Canyon
Wensu County's Wensu Grand Canyon 📸👍 is known as the 'living geological evolution history museum.' I can't distinguish between the rock salt karst landforms, the yardang landforms, or the Danxia geology; I just feel like I've entered a ten-mile gallery upon arriving at the scenic area 📸💯👍.
The canyon's sheer cliffs rise steeply 📸🥰, with odd peaks jutting out and the rock wall's folds clearly ferocious. The bizarre rocks are variously shaped: some like camel humps, pagodas, pillars holding up the sky, others like ancient murals, Taoist priests draped in capes, or the mysterious turtles witnessing the changes... In short, this place will spark your imagination 🌹💕.
As you climb up the trail to the top of the peak and look down, you immediately feel the canyon's depth 📸👍💯, with people and cars instantly shrinking to the size of matchboxes.
The intensely colored Wensu Grand Canyon 📸👍🪻💮, I understood what a tourist said inadvertently: this is Van Gogh's lost palette 🎨.
Xizhou Ancient Town
Xizhou Ancient Town is located in the Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan, in the northern part of Dali City. The town is home to many distinctive Bai ethnic residential buildings📸🏠. Walking into Xizhou Ancient Town, you can see the 'Three Rooms and One Wall Screen'📸, upturned eaves📸💯, and intricately carved beams and painted rafters📸🌹, making you feel like you've stepped into an architectural museum💕. Along the streets, you'll find tie-dye shops🏚️, the fragrant Xizhou Baba😋, wisteria with clusters of flowers hanging from the branches🪻, and the brilliantly colored geraniums💮🌸... The rich cultural atmosphere is palpable🥰📸.
Aershan Tourism Resort
Aershan Tourism Resort is a dazzling gem 💎 located at the southwestern foothills of the Greater Khingan Mountains in Inner Mongolia. It boasts vast forests 📸🌲🌳, magnificent grasslands 📸🌱, ancient volcanoes 📸🌋, and pristine wetlands 📸🌿, attracting numerous tourists 👫.
The area is dotted with springs 📸💯🥰. During the day, you can hike, cross rivers, and go off-road through the forests. At night, you can relax in a hot spring, making it a true vacation paradise 👍🌹.
The smallest train station in the country, Aershan Train Station 📸🥰, features Japanese-style architecture built in 1935. It is a key cultural relic in Inner Mongolia and is hailed as the most beautiful train station in China, becoming a popular spot for social media 📸.
Don't miss the local delicacies here 👍. I stayed at the Aershan Yurong International Hotel, where the hand-held meat was delicious 😋👍, without any gamey taste, and it was cheaper than outside 💕.
The Enchanting Three Pools Gorge of Arxan
The Three Pools Gorge is located within the Arxan Tianchi Scenic Area, upstream of the Halaha River📸🌹. The riverbed of the gorge is densely covered with volcanic🌋 rocks. The river water rushes through the valley, roaring turbulently or flowing smoothly like a mirror. The banks are lined with mixed coniferous and broadleaf forests🌲🌿, lush and verdant, offering a refreshing and uplifting experience💕.
Walking along the trail, looking up, huge rocks🪨 jut out from the jungle📸, standing tall like majestic gorillas🦍 guarding the forest.
Woniutan Pool🐮📸👍: Rocks of various sizes lie in front of the pool like a herd of cows🐄 resting and drinking in peace.
Hushi Pool📸🪻: Rocks of different sizes and shapes resemble a group of tigers🐅🐯 playing in the river valley. On one side of the valley is a vertical rock face, with pine trees above. The sunlight casts shadows on the rock face, creating patterns like the stripes of a tiger, both black and white🐯 and yellow and white🐅.
Yue Xin Tan: The river suddenly opens up, revealing a clear and transparent pool with rocks lying across, tempting visitors to wade and play in the water.
The Yungang Grottoes
The Yungang Grottoes, a treasure trove of world cultural and artistic heritage, began to be carved during the Northern Wei Dynasty in the 5th to 6th century AD. It was the first feudal imperial royal Buddhist grotto temple to be excavated near the capital of China, and it is also a pinnacle of the world's Buddhist grotto sculpture art. The grottoes are carved along the mountain, with a grand scale. Along the cliff stretching about 1 kilometer from east to west, there are currently 45 main caves and 256 small niches, containing over 59,000 Buddhist figures, and more than 20,000 various niche styles, pagoda shapes, and patterns.

Yantian Seaside Boardwalk
I have walked the Yantian seaside boardwalk in Shenzhen twice. The first time was from Yantian Village to Dameisha; after the Xiaomeisha station opened, I walked it again, this time from Xiaomeisha to Yantian Village. The Xiaomeisha and Dameisha sections of the boardwalk are built along the mountain and by the sea👍📸. Strolling here, one can see where the sky meets the sea, clear and azure blue, listen to the endless waves🌊; watch the waves crash against the shore, rolling up layers of white foam📸🥰; the coastal rocks are like crawling dragons📸😘, with little whirlpools formed by the waves🌊 in front of them, resembling dragons playing with water, a magnificent sight💯👍📸; and there are leisurely anglers by the shore...
The beaches of Xiaomeisha and Dameisha are crowded with visitors🌹❤️, lively and bustling, and the sand sculptures on the beach are also a popular spot to check in📸🌹...
Although the Yantian Greenway deviates from the coast due to the salt field projects, the entire greenway is very suitable for walking🚶. My next goal is to ride a bike🚲 from Shatoujiao to Xiaomeisha🚴.
