I was a bit hesitant initially, given the tours weren't cheap, the whole balloon thing in the morning was a dud and the museum required 20 euros towards entry. I mean it's not much but what if it sucked. On the contrary, this turned out to be the most interesting thing to do in the very touristy Goreme. By the ways, there is an extra 6 euro fee for the old church. Even as an idea it is so unique, already the fact that there have been people living underground and in the caves for centuries and centuries. Then you get to be in a museum where you explore these churches inside the caves, arts and paints in the rock. A lot of the art or say paintings too were broken and some were destroyed when the great Ottoman empire took over. What would have also been nicer is to have more written descriptions by the things on display. Be prepared for some climbing and stairs. From the parking lot to here was a climb and then inside there are certain areas with steep stairs. Quite informative and very interesting. Carry something to drink. In my quest for tranquillity and isolation, I embarked on an off-road adventure in the heart of Göreme, Turkey. Every turn of the wheel was a new experience, a step deeper into the uncharted wilderness, truly encapsulating the essence of #tripblazers. The journey unfolded on dirt trails, surrounded by the alien yet fascinating rock formations of Göreme National Park. Driving up steep trails, kicking up clouds of dust in my wake, each twist and turn revealed a new facet of the captivating Cappadocian landscape. Once at the hilltop, the world below seemed distant and silent, with not a soul in sight. It felt as if I had entered a realm detached from the usual hustle and bustle. The panoramic view of Göreme was breathtaking. Fairy chimneys, the peculiar rocky spires native to the region, formed an #awesomepic against the cloudless azure sky. The solitude, the rugged charm of the landscape, the indomitable spirit of the drive, all resonated with the #passionpassport within me. This undisturbed sojourn was a retreat into the lap of nature, a retreat that allowed me to commune with my inner self. Taking into account the fact that you have to go to the balloons around 4 in the morning, the temperature then was about 8 degrees.... Nevertheless, I wholeheartedly recommend this experience, this view stays in the heart forever!

Trust me you'll never be disappointed in this city. 2-day trip wasn't enough and hopefully I will eventually go back there some day. There are plenty means of transport from Istanbul to Cappadocia. I took a train and went back by a airplane which was super easy and cheap. I rented a motorcycle to explore Cappadocia and realized that it was crazy to ride in 7-9 degree Celsius!! However, it's worth to see amazing views along my way. (And you have to be careful of the high hills there) There're view points to watch the balloons, but the sunrise point was easy for me. It was just 5 mins walk from my hotel. As you can see, the balloons and the sunrise at the same time was definitely wonderful !! #turkiye #cappadocia #goreme #balloons #sunrise

Getting There - Getting there is pretty easy. Kayseri Airport in the Kapaodkya/Cappadocia region is an international airport. So it is possible to book and direct flight there. Otherwise, there are plenty of regular flights available from Istanbul Also. Attractions - The main attraction there is the hot air balloon ride. Currently, it is around 200 euro to 300 euro depending on the crowd. Also, people can do sunset/sunrise ATV tours, photoshoots with classic cars and some tours named red, green and blue tours. Those are also pretty interesting. People can learn a lot about history from those tours. Hotels - The best place to stay here is in göreme in the cave hotels. These cave hotels are inside volcanic rock-formed mountains. Food & Restaurants - Food in türkiye is the same all across different areas. You can have meat kebaps, veggie kebaps, lentil soups and many türkiye cuisines. don't miss the Tasti Kebaps. This one is really tasty Shopping - Buy souvenirs from a balloon ride.
