Arashiyama of Keitsu, a famous autumn foliage spot transplanted from Kyoto: Nakano Momijiyama.
This time, on our self-driving tour to see the autumn leaves in the Tohoku region, we visited famous spots in Aomori Prefecture. In addition to Oirase Gorge, the Hakkoda Mountains, and the night maple viewing at Hirosaki Castle, Nakano Momijiyama is also a top contender and is one of Japan's top 100 autumn foliage spots.
The maple trees here were transplanted from Arashiyama in Kyoto, and even the species of maple trees were carefully selected. They are planted in the forest of Nakano Shrine, creating a serene and natural landscape that, combined with the shrine's red bridge and torii gate, exudes a Kyoto-like atmosphere.
Nakano Momijiyama also has a red bridge. From a distance, you can take in the entire Momijiyama, including the valley, the red bridge, the shrine, and the maple leaves. There is also a waterfall on one side, making it incredibly beautiful.
After crossing the red bridge and walking up to Nakano Shrine, there is a path that leads to a higher viewing platform. The entire mountain is covered in golden maple leaves, creating a poetic and picturesque scene. The maple leaves at the top of the mountain reflect beautifully with those at the bottom, full of poetic charm, earning it the nickname 'Arashiyama of Keitsu.'
The beautiful and mysterious "Lake Towada" is a clear blue lake and sky.
#2024Travel Review
Driving from Sendai to Oirase Gorge, you will definitely arrive at Lake Towada first. This crater lake is located at the junction of Aomori and Akita. It is beautiful, clean and a little mysterious. Visiting in different seasons and times will show different appearances, which is quite charming.
The azure blue of the water and the sky, the crystal clear purity, are the first impression that Lake Towada gives people. It is also the third deepest lake in Japan, several times larger than Sun Moon Lake.
If you want to experience the beauty of Lake Towada, in addition to driving around the lake, you can also choose to take a boat trip on the lake. There are docks at both Kyūya and Konoguchi where you can take a boat. It takes about 40 minutes to go around and the scenery is infinitely beautiful.
When we first arrived at Lake Towada, the sun was shining brightly, and the sky and lake surface merged into the same color as the sea and sky. It was blue and clear, and the road was golden. A few days later, when we returned to Lake Towada, the temperature dropped sharply the night before, and the sky was hazy and windy. Not only did the pier stop sailing, There is snow on both sides of the road, and the scenery is very different.
It was a worthwhile trip to experience the different styles of Lake Towada at the same time.

Golden and red, share the ginkgo viewing spots in Northeast Japan
#GINKGO #100 Ways to Travel
In addition to red leaves in autumn in Northeast Japan, yellow leaves are also indispensable #gingko. During this free trip to Northeast Japan, I visited several scenic spots where ginkgos are in full bloom. I share them as follows:
#Kakunodate is known as Oku's Little Kyoto, especially the street in the samurai house. The maple leaves and ginkgo trees bloom at the same time, dyeing the entire thatched house of the samurai house in a golden red. It is really beautiful!
#Morioka Castle Ruins Morioka Castle, located close to the river and located high up, is full of cherry blossoms, maples, and ginkgo trees. With the remains of the city wall as the background, the golden ginkgo trees stand tall and straight, giving it a unique sense of history.
# aomori Ginkgo is a street tree in Aomori. Ginkgo trees are planted on both sides of the main road extending to the harbor next to A-Factory, but the intervals are a bit wide. Each blooming ginkgo has a lonely beauty.
#中野山 Although it is a well-known maple viewing spot, there are still huge ginkgo trees along the maple viewing platform. Especially at the maple viewing platform, there are whole yellow leaves, overwhelmingly dyeing the entire mountain forest yellow, which is quite healing.
#OiraseStream The most popular natural attraction in Northeast Japan, the gurgling stream, the red and yellow colors of autumn, and the sunlight shining through the gaps between the maple leaves and ginkgo trees, are as beautiful as a painting. There are many kinds of trees in Oirase Stream, including red leaves, ginkgo, cedar and other color-changing deciduous trees. Once the seasons change, it is even more beautiful and it is extremely pleasant to walk along it.

Aomori Prefecture has a lot of delicious food 🍎
I went there in February, so the snow was incredible ☃️
Nebuta House Wa Rasse had many actual floats used in the Nebuta Festival!
The Sannai-Maruyama Ruins were covered in snow, but the volunteer guides provided free historical tours, which was really great!
At Asamushi Onsen, I relaxed by visiting the aquarium and soaking in the hot springs. The dolphin show at the aquarium was fun, with balls flying into the audience, making it a highly recommended spot 🐬

○Recommendations
・A 3-day, 2-night stay allows for a leisurely experience
→The path along the stream from the Towada Lake Boat Cruise Terminal to the hotel is suitable for hiking, but it takes over three hours one way on foot. Since I only stayed for one night this time, I couldn't make it to Towada Lake due to time constraints. However, the hike along the stream was incredibly beautiful and very satisfying. If possible, I definitely recommend making it to Towada Lake.
Considering the various options available at Hoshino Resorts, a 3-day, 2-night stay with activities planned for the second day would make the trip even more enjoyable.
・Breakfast by the stream is the best
→The hotel offers a buffet for both dinner and breakfast, but for an additional 1,500 yen per person, you can opt for a different breakfast experience by the stream. While the buffet is delicious, enjoying breakfast to the sound of the flowing river is exquisite. I highly recommend taking this option for the ultimate breakfast experience!
・The stars are incredibly beautiful at night!
→Since it gets very dark at night, taking a little walk around the area can be delightful!
📍 Aomori Museum of Art/Aomori
About 20 minutes by bus from Aomori Station, we went to the Aomori Museum of Art, which is also the source of Aomori's artistic culture 🚌
The works of the world-famous artist Yoshitomo Nara, who is from Aomori Prefecture, are famous, especially "Aomori Dog" ✨
Personally, I was impressed by the dynamism of all four works of the ballet "Aleko" painted by Chagall 🥺🤍
In addition, the use of space was luxurious and immersive, and the architectural beauty alone was worth seeing 🕊️
I thought it would be empty first thing in the morning, but it was a popular spot that was constantly visited by people even on weekdays 🌟

🇯🇵Oirase Stream in Aomori, Japan👣has different appearance in four seasons🥳
Catch the tail of autumn and drive for several hours, from the urban jungle to the mountains. As the mobile phone signal gradually weakens, it seems to remind people that it is time to turn their attention from the mobile phone to the window. When they are about to enter the mountain, the sight of the There are dense golden woods juxtaposed on the side, and the treetops are dotted with golden leaves.
This time we drove directly to Ishito Rest House for a short rest, and walked from this end of the trail to the entrance of the mountain. The walking time was 1 hour. The trail was not muddy due to the rain in the previous few days, and we were walking on a quiet trail. , surrounded by a gurgling stream on one side, with crows chirping overhead, and the towering ancient trees that can be seen along the way are like a feast of natural ghosts and axes, making people fascinated by the natural mountains and wilderness. It is a scenic spot worth visiting. .

Japanese restaurant chapter, lakeside coffee shop
Before leaving🥹 in the morning, I reluctantly walked towards the lake in the other direction, and found a wooden coffee shop🤩. The indoor environment is very elegant🥰, with brown hairdressing chairs and wooden tables, and there is also a right-side view by the window. Lake Towada, and there is a long wooden pier outside, combined with the deep blue lake water, it is a first-class check-in! It's a pity that it's not open😢, but we have to leave again. We hope to have a chance to come back for a cup of coffee☕.

[Aomori City] First experience of Aomori local cuisine🔰
Osanai is a popular restaurant with many locals and tourists alike, with a wide selection of 500 yen menu items such as set meals and rice bowls. If you come here, be sure to try the dishes made with live scallops! The menu is also full of scallops. After a lot of deliberation about whether to have fried scallops or not, I ordered the scallop grilled miso set meal. I changed my miso soup to the local dish Kenojiru for an additional 250 yen. I didn't really want to eat the grilled miso, but rather thought it was a local dish that I should try once, but it was more delicious than I expected! The miso flavor is not strong, so you can really enjoy the ingredients. It was also full of scallops, and I was more than satisfied with just that. I'm glad I ordered it. Kenojiru is a miso soup with chopped vegetables and konnyaku. It's filling and really feels like a miso soup you can eat! It also warms the body ♨️
It was my first trip to Aomori, and I was able to enjoy the taste for the first time 😊
By the way, the first floor is a restaurant, and the floor next to the entrance is an izakaya 🏮
If you want to enjoy some alcohol together, Izakaya Osanai might be a good choice!
