Wenqing Old House B&B in Anping, Tainan 🏠 Treat it as your own home! !
#Tainan #安平包屋 #民宿 #老街 #100 ways to travel
🏠The privately owned "Second Home" B&B is hidden in the alleys of Anping, Tainan. It is an old house that has been carefully restored, retaining the charm of the ancient house while offering modern comfort. After opening the red door, you will find a courtyard paved with pebbles and a few outdoor seats, where you can calm down, have a cup of coffee, and feel the tranquility of the ancient house.
🏠Another charming thing about this B&B is its location. Take a quiet break from the bustle, and you can reach the lively Anping Old Street just around the corner. It's not far from Anping Market, where you can fully enjoy shopping and snacks. After eating and drinking, we returned to the B&B and found another peaceful atmosphere.
🏠Brother Allen, the owner of the B&B, is a major selling point of "Returning Back Home". He is kind and humorous, and knows Tainan's delicacies very well. During your stay, Brother Allen will enthusiastically recommend nearby delicacies, making you feel as warm as returning to your grandma's house.

Enjoy a Relaxing Sunset at Anping Sunset Platform in Tainan
Anping Sunset Platform is the closest spot to Tainan City for enjoying a seaside sunset. On clear days, this place is always bustling with people playing in the sand, wading in the waves, and enjoying a leisurely afternoon.
Tainan's summer often features spectacular fiery clouds, painting the sky in brilliant colors that captivate the eye. Strolling along the Sunset Platform at dusk allows you to capture this breathtaking scenery. For a landscape photography enthusiast like me, this place is a perfect spot for shooting beautiful photos from every angle.
Standing on the beach at the Sunset Platform, feeling the gentle sea breeze and watching the sun slowly set fills me with peace and contentment. If you have the chance to visit Tainan, don't miss this beautiful place. Bring your camera and take photos with the sunset and the beach! 🌄🙌🏻

Tainan | Coastal Forest.
While Anping Fort might be Tainan's most famous attraction, the nearby Yuguang Island is equally impressive! If you love nature, you must visit this small island, which is close to the city and easily accessible.
To reach the beach, you first walk through this forest trail. The afternoon sunlight filters through the trees, making for a very pleasant stroll. The narrow wooden boardwalk in the forest is also perfect for taking photos!
Walking along the boardwalk, you'll quickly reach Yuguang Island Beach. There's a large open area with trees providing shade and a view of the sea, making it a great spot for a picnic.
Yuguang Island Beach is arguably the most famous beach in Tainan. The coastline is stunning, earning it the nickname 'Moon Bay.' The sand here is very fine, so even walking barefoot is comfortable. Many people choose to walk, sunbathe, and spend their weekends here.
There are no skyscrapers here, just a vast expanse of blue and green. Some people enjoy this beautiful scenery with their pets, making it feel like time has slowed down.
After exploring the forest trail and the beach, if you're hungry and can't wait to get back to the city for food, you can try the snacks here! From hot food to ice treats, there's a wide variety. However, since these stalls are by the roadside, consider the hygiene conditions before purchasing.
📍Yuguang Island
To get to Yuguang Island from Tainan Train Station, take Bus No. 2 towards Sankunshen and get off at 'Binhai Station.' (Prepare to get off when you see the Yuguang Island sign)
Tainan | A Leisurely Afternoon for Hipsters: Exploring the Confucius Temple Shopping District
The Tainan Confucius Temple, honored as the 'First Academy of Taiwan,' is the oldest existing Confucius Temple in Taiwan. Built in 1665 and having undergone numerous renovations, it still retains its solemn and majestic atmosphere. Nowadays, the area around the temple is also rich in cultural vibes. After visiting the Confucius Temple, don't rush to leave; make sure to explore the Confucius Temple Shopping District!
Fuzhong Street is the liveliest part of the Confucius Temple Shopping District. This street is filled with unique shops offering everything from cultural and creative designs to authentic local snacks. As you walk down the street, you'll notice a perfect blend of the old and new—century-old houses transformed into creative shops, innovative foods in the market—every step is a delightful surprise.
If you get tired, you can recharge at the juice bars or taro ice shops on the street. After exploring, there are plenty of eateries nearby where you can continue your food adventure!

The Mysteries and Wonderful Experiences of the Taiwan Salt Museum in Tainan

A Night at Silks Place Tainan
Summer vacation family trip to a five-star hotel. We arrived at the hotel before 3:00 PM, thinking that the earlier we check in, the more we can enjoy. However, we overlooked the hotel's policy that check-in is at 4:00 PM and check-out is at 12:00 PM the next day. Despite this, we were able to check in early and leave our luggage. The kids were eager to play in the hotel's swimming pool. Silks Place Tainan is conveniently located next to Shin Kong Mitsukoshi, making it easy for those who want to go shopping. It's just a short walk away, which is great for avoiding the outdoor heat. The hotel staff were very considerate and called us as soon as our room was ready for early check-in.
Silks Place Tainan has a very rustic charm. The high-ceilinged lobby is very comfortable and doesn't feel oppressive. The service is excellent. The rooms are spacious with large windows, making them bright and comfortable. There are simple snacks and fruits, as well as tea bags and a capsule coffee machine. The corridor has a water dispenser that offers both hot and cold water, as well as sparkling water. If you need toiletries, you can request them at the front desk. They provide Colgate toothbrushes instead of disposable ones. The bathroom has bath amenities and even face masks. The minibar is well-stocked with various drinks and bottled tea. Breakfast is unique, offering both Western and Chinese options for guests to choose from. Since the kids love Western food, we opted for the Western breakfast, while other family members chose the Chinese breakfast. We found that the Chinese breakfast also included some Western dishes and vice versa. Both options feature Tainan's famous beef soup and savory porridge, so there's no need to worry about missing out. Just pick the type you prefer!

Tainan | A Great Summer Destination: Art Museum Building 2
Too hot to go anywhere?
I highly recommend visiting the art museum to enjoy the air conditioning and explore the exhibitions.
When you're tired, head to the café on the 5th floor for some desserts.
You can easily spend an entire afternoon there. 😌
I think the Tainan Art Museum is fantastic!
From July 1st, you can use the same ticket twice before the end of the year.
And I just found out that one ticket grants access to both buildings.
Alright, I'll visit Building 1 next time. 🤞🏻

Tainan - Anping Fort (Fort Zeelandia Museum)
Upon arriving at Anping Fort, the first thing that catches your eye is the main red brick structure of the fort and the towering watchtower. Many people head straight for the watchtower because from the top, you can overlook the entire fort and the city of Tainan. Of course, I did the same! Climbing up is not difficult, but the weather in Tainan is really hot, so it's recommended to come early or bring a water bottle to make it easier.
The horizon where the sea meets the sky in the distance, and the sea breeze instantly makes you feel much cooler. The entire fort looks ancient and charming, and with the surrounding greenery, it's a perfect spot for taking photos and checking in.
Inside the fort's exhibition hall, there are some simple historical introductions and artifacts. It's not as heavy as you might imagine; instead, it's like stepping into a corner of time, seeing a glimpse of early life in Taiwan.
The gardens around the fort are lush with greenery, and the large trees provide plenty of shade. When you're tired from walking, you can easily find a bench under the shade to sit and rest, which is super comfortable. This place not only has historical traces but also a very relaxing atmosphere, making it feel like you can unwind for an entire afternoon. I heard there are many local delicacies nearby, such as tofu pudding and oyster omelets, so after touring the fort, it's also nice to take a few steps to find some food.
In summary, Anping Fort is not just a historical site; it's more like a place where you can slow down and enjoy some leisure time. If you have time to visit Tainan, I highly recommend coming here for a walk. It won't disappoint you!

Fun Slow Travel: Stay at Tainan Zengwen Reservoir Resort
Located within the Zengwen Reservoir, just inform the control station that you are staying at the hotel for free admission after confirmation. The hotel is very suitable for families or group outings, with a 7-11 on the first floor open until 11 pm. It also offers a variety of recreational facilities, obstacle courses, a swimming pool, and bicycles, making it a very diverse hotel.
The hotel is located inside the reservoir, so it is very quiet. There are fewer restaurants nearby at night, so it is recommended to prepare in advance before entering, or you can enjoy meals at the 7-11 or the nearby Plum Blossom Hotel. The rooms are quite spacious, with bathtubs for a relaxing soak, though not separate. The bathroom lighting is super bright, but the rooms are a bit dim.
Overall, the soundproofing is above average, making for a very comfortable sleep. After checking out the next day, or in the afternoon, you can visit the largest reservoir in Taiwan.

Address: 5th Floor, No. 63, Section 2, Zhongyi Rd, West Central District, Tainan City 700, Taiwan
Atmosphere/Facilities: Perfect for a break
Budget per person: I visited in February and again in April, and noticed that the price of some tofu puddings has increased... For example, the recommended Comprehensive Silk Tofu Pudding is now NT$90, whereas it was NT$80 two months ago. With the yen weakening (this time it was over 4.9 yen to the yuan), it's a bit sad.
