Journey to Nagasaki: A Powerful Lesson in History and Hope
My trip to Nagasaki was a mix of excitement and deep reflection, especially when I visited the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum. Nagasaki is a lively and beautiful city, but the museum gave me a chance to understand its painful history.
When I entered the museum, I felt the weight of what had happened there. The displays were powerful, with real items from the bombing on August 9, 1945. There were pictures, burned clothing, and melted glass – all reminders of the damage caused by the atomic bomb. It was both sad and eye-opening to see the impact up close.
One part that really touched me was learning about the survivors, called hibakusha. Their stories of rebuilding their lives and the city were inspiring. The museum also teaches visitors about the importance of peace and why we should work to prevent this from ever happening again.
After the museum, I went to Peace Park nearby. It’s a calm and beautiful place with statues and monuments to remember those affected. Standing there, I felt a mix of sadness for the past and hope for a peaceful future.
Visiting Nagasaki and the Atomic Bomb Museum was a meaningful experience. It taught me a lot about history, resilience, and the importance of peace. It’s a visit I will never forget.#nagasaki #peaceparknagasaki #atomicnagasaki
Not to be missed
#japantrip
Nagasaki, along with Hiroshima are bits of human history that are not to be missed. Once in your lifetime. You ought to visit these places that serve a reminder of why peace and humanity are more important. I don't wish to give you silly reasons like any other travel destination to convince you into travelling here.
This place doesn't require those. There is going to be all you need in terms of holiday comfort. Friendly locals, beautiful sights, food and brilliant museums. But my point is Nagasaki or even hisroshima are amongst the places that if you visit, will bring a change in you. And in some cases, even bring you on the path that is humanity. #japantrip #peace #nagasaki

UNESCO Hidden Christian Sites in Nagasaki
The Oura Church in Nagasaki City is one of the 12 sites related to the history of Christianity in Japan. The group of churches and Christian sites were recognized as a World Heritage Site in 2018.
This particular church is located in the southern part of Nagasaki City, while some of the other in the list are located in other parts of the Nagasaki Prefecture. To get to the Oura Church, it is possible to walk 15-20 min from city center. The area is in fact part of the Foreign Settlement area of Nagasaki in the 19th century. Therefore you can also visit Glover Garden and Chinese Confucius Shrine nearby.
The Church was built by French missionaries in 1864 and is the oldest church in Japan. It was also designated as a National treasure in 1933 by the Japanese Government.
Entrance fee is ¥1000 for adult and 400 for high school students which I thought was a little expensive. Aside the main church, you can also visit the Christian Museum next to it. It will take about 30 -45 minutes to visit the entire premise.

Japan’s 3 best night view at Mount Inasa
Mount Inasa indeed captures the best view of Nagasaki City from above. It is just a short 10 minutes drive up the curvy road in the western part of the city.
There are several ways to reach the observatory, including ropeway (1250 yen round trip), bus and of course by car . If you drive, parking spaces are available at the summit.
Once at the top, go up to the rooftop of the observatory building for a 360 degrees view. The west side faces the ocean and is absolutely stunning at sunset. The other side overlooks Nagasaki City on the two sides of the Uragami River.
The observatory building also has a couple of fast food restaurants for light snacks and drinks.
This is definitely a must go place in Nagasaki!

Ferry from Shimbara to Kumamoto
If you are driving around Kyushu in Japan, and considering to go between Nagasaki and Kumamoto, the car ferry is one of the options.
There are 6-7 ferries daily traveling between the two ports. We took the 9:40 and it is best to arrive 30 minutes before departure. Once you arrive at the terminal gate, the guard will direct you to park your car in line. you will then need to get your ticket from the main building. The Kyushu ferry ticket counter is on the left side. even if you don’t speak Japanese, you can just say Kumamoto, indicate how many persons in total ( as the basic car ticket is ¥2730 including the driver). Additional passenger will cost ¥890. Inside the terminal building, there is also a gift shop and coffee shop.
Boarding starts about 10 min prior to departure. traveling time is about 60 minutes. After parking your car on the ferry, you can then go up to the second level where there are both indoor and outdoor seatings. There are plenty of seats .
I find this to be a convenient way to travel if this is the route in your itinerary. However much of the road between Nagasaki and Shimbara is local road with lots of traffic lights and speed limit is 50 per km. it could also get quite congested in the afternoon, so best to plan your route and time. #urbanexplorer #drivinginjapan #Nagasaki #Kumamoto

Charming spots in Nagasaki, Megane Bridge
One of the most charming spots in Nagasaki, Megane Bridge (眼鏡橋), is a must-see for any traveler. Built in 1634, this stone bridge is famous for its unique reflection on the river, creating the illusion of “glasses.” Take a peaceful stroll along the banks, especially during sunset when the bridge is beautifully illuminated. Don’t forget to snap a photo and check out the surrounding historic sites and quaint streets. This scenic spot is perfect for a relaxing break from sightseeing.

Take a walk at Glass sand beach.
Really close to Nagasaki Airport. I took a taxi to go here just right after landed in airport. Its a really small beach, but the sand is so unique, it looks like a colorful small pieces of glasses.
There are not many people here, just some locals. There also a parking lot near the beach. It was a fun experience for me because its my first time seeing a sand like this. So beautiful💕

Abandoned town in Japan
Its located in Nagasaki, i went here using the ferry around 30minutes from the Nagasaki port. A little history for this Island, it was prosperous in the past because it was known for its undersea coal mines. But being abandoned at 1974.
It’s been abandoned for 50 years. So it so Dangerous to get inside the Island, we only going to the edge of the island while listening for the story of the guide. I was so lucky because the weather were so nice so we can go to the island.
This island was approved as UNESCO world heritage. And was a unique experience for me. So if you have a plan to come to Japan I recommend you to visit this abandoned Island. #japantrip #nagasaki #abandoned

Japan’s first station platform Japanese sake bar, Hama Bar
Today I found out that this Hama Bar at Hizenhama Station is the first station platform Japanese sake bar in Japan.
Hama Bar only sells ground sake from six Kashima local sake collections, and also offers sake sets, that we buy on the car set.
There is also a sake street outside the station, there are ancient houses, wine collections, soy sauce brewing grounds, etc. can be visited, unfortunately it was raining on the day of visit, otherwise you can match the parking time outside to walk around, only to wait for the next time!

Excellent Ramen in Nagasaki
Hiiragi Ramen Shop is centrally located in Dozo, Nagasaki It is easily accessible on foot from the Nagasaki Chinatown by 5 min. I passed by it a few times during my two days stay in Nagasaki and there was always a long line of people . I finally went in at 3pm to give it a try.
There are 4 types of ramen to choose from, plus a few rice bowls and snacks such as gyoza.
We ordered the dan dan noodle and the Aosa ramen (seaweed soup ). The dan dan is spicy and flavorful, while the seaweed ramen was quite new to me. The soup is full of small pieces of seaweed, and some even melted into the soup. It was really excellent and has all the seaweed flavor in your mouth as you slurp up the noodles. The gyoza was also crispy and juicy!
The noodle portion was quite big, but if it is not enough, you can always add the extra portion of noodle or get a nigiri ( rice ball) to soak up the soup. Many of the teenage boys around me were all eating this way!
The shop is opened until 3am on weekdays and 5am on weekends. I would highly recommend anyone visiting Nagasaki to give it a try!
