A hike to the top of Wales
Picking a route up Wales’ highest mountain, Snowdon is a trickier task than it seems with options numbering into double digits. Those wanting to avoid the difficult and often dangerous Crib Goch route or the long slog following the train-line for Llanberis whilst still taking in dramatic views and scenery should head to the minder path.
Starting at Pen y Pass car park this route was originally built for the copper miners who once worked in the area, artefacts from the era can still be viewed today. The route circles around a number of tarns before starting its steep ascent to the summit. Make sure to check the weather report before attempting this climb as the conditions can be very changeable in the area. #mountain #wales #snowdon #snowdonia

A Welsh wonderland
Just outside the famous castle city of Conwy lies one of the most beautiful of all national trust gardens- Bondant Gardens.
The Italian style gardens were once privately owned and have been passed down through the generations. Following the river alongside along through the woodland is just one of the many walks that you can explore in this area and one which parts are opened up to the public more and more each year, meaning each repeat visit is never quite the same #Gardens #nationaltrust #wales

Shopping how it used to be, the historical Cardiff Market
Cardiff market is an iconic landmark in the city center that feels like a time portal to a bygone era. The indoor market was opened in 1891 and has kept most of its original features, it has two main entrances and it’s a hub of activity.
The market has everything you could need from jewellers and cobblers to butchers and grocers.
There are great hot food options with Mexican, Indian, Thai and even freshly made Welsh cakes.
The upstairs offers great views over the market and most of the food stalls have seating around the balconies

Cardiff Bay, the modern beating hard of Wales’ Capital Cardiff 🏴
Cardiff is the capital city of Wales and it’s seen an incredible amount of development over the last 15 to 20 years. The Cardiff bay barrage is one of the most successful urban renewal projects in European history, it’s created an incredible entertainment district that has something for everyone.
When the barrage was completed it created a huge man made lake which has been developed into a marina, wetland parks and the Mermaid Quay development. It houses the Millennium Center for performances, the Welsh assembly building and numerous food options - all centered around the historic dry docks and pier head building.
The bay is great during the summer as there are always seasonal events, at the moment a fun fair for the family.
The bay is a great place to understand Cardiff’s history and the role the docks paid in the early development of the city. The different architecture is fascinating as the modern city has grown around some of its oldest landmarks.
📍Address: Cardiff Bay
🚆 Transport : There are plenty of parking options, bus routes or the train to Cardiff bay station
💰Average Price per Person: Various prices, but very affordable options from around £10 Per person.

Unbelievable Topiary in a quaint seaside town.
Alexandra park is a beautiful park just off the main street in Penarth, Wales - it’s a great way to walk from the town center to the seafront. It contains a main path and a few smaller paths that wind down the hill through the beautiful landscaped gardens, the gardens feature beautiful topiary displays that the garden is famous for.
The paths are very wide and some go through the wooded areas, so for hot days you are able to walk from top to bottom in shaded areas. There are plenty of places to sit and there is a small childrens play area half way down, during hot days there is an independent coffee vendor that sells hot and cold drinks.
The park also features Penarth’s main war memorial dedicated to those who served or fell during the two World Wars, the cenotaph itself is a listed historical monument.
I love walking through the park and seeing the various trees and plants that grow there, you can see that a lot of time and effort has been spent keeping this garden in order and it’s so beautiful to see.

Penarth Pier, A Beautiful historical Seaside gem
Penarth is a beautiful seaside town and luckily my hometown, growing up here was amazing during the summers and it’s so nice to come back for a visit.
The seafront has a long calm beach and the beachfront is lined with shops, restaurants and bars - newer independent coffee shops are also starting to appear.
The highlight of the seafront is the Pier, built in 1898 it has become an iconic landmark for penarth and wales as a whole. The pier used to be a dock for steam boats that would cruise up and down the Bristol Channel.
After a multi million pound refurbishment in 2013 the pier is now a big social hub for the area, the pavilion contains a cinema, cafe and ice cream parlours.
It’s a great place to take in the views or relax with a coffee, it’s dog and family friendly and it’s good for all weathers!
📍Address: Penarth seafront, Wales
💰Average Price per Person: Free for the pier £3/4 per coffee or cake on the pier

Have a roar-some time, dinosaurs at the museum of Wales
The National Museum of Wales is a fantastic free day out for the whole family, located in the heart of Cardiff’s civic center. The museum is housed in a stunning building and houses both a natural history museum, art gallery and dedicated sections about the history of wales itself.
The museum is famous for it’s large collection of dinosaur bones and life size models, I remember going so many times as a child - so it’s amazing to be able to come back and visit again.
The natural history galleries are on the lower floors with the art galleries on the higher floors and through the extensions added to the back of the building.
There is a nice cafe and gift shop in the main atrium where you can sit back and take in the stunning building around you.
The museum is free so It does get busy, I would advise going early in the day to make sure you have enough time to take in everything you want to see.

A magical castle in the heart of the city
Cardiff castle is a grade 1 listed building in the heart of downtown Cardiff, one of the fastest growing cities in Europe. The castle is set in the grounds of Bute Park which offers a a peaceful break from the city, with the historical castle offering a beautiful contrast to the modern developments around it.
The original castle was built in the 11th century on top of an old Roman fort, however the castle gained its fame after the work done under the eye of the Marquess of Bute.
The castle has impressive ground with stunning interiors, the high vantage points give amazing views of Cardiff and enable you to see the coast all the way to the mountains.
There is an entrance fee for the Castle grounds, museum and interiors but they are worth it. There are on site cafes and snack bars and plenty of local options within a five minute walk

Amazing weather in Cardiff 🏴#wales #foodie #cardiff
Living in Cardiff really made me appreciate how walkable it is, how bike-friendly it is and how good the public transport is!
Walking: Cardiff City Centre is really easy to walk around as it isn’t that big and if you don’t fancy walking or have difficulties walking, I recommend this Cardiff hop on hop off bus to show you the best Cardiff tourist attractions.
Cycling: Cardiff has recently had OVO bikes installed and as I found out, they are a great way to see the city and there are plenty of cycle lanes in Cardiff.
I recommend hiring a bike to get from Cardiff City Centre to Cardiff Bay and for cycling around Cardiff Bay along the water so you can see much more in a shorter amount of time.
Beautiful Tenby town
Tenby is my favourite place in wales, a beautiful and historical seaside town. Colourful buildings, historical walls and great fish and chips. Perfect for a weekend break in the summer with beautiful and clean sandy beaches.
Lots of sweet shops, arcades and gift shops for nostalgia. #wales #Tenby
The Flowers of Wales
Across the entire UK, spring has sprung! And one of the signs of that is the unmistakable and beautiful white blossom of the blackthorn!
Mid-Wales has many farmland hedges filled with beautiful blooming blackthorns! Come to this often overlooked corner to see not only beautiful blossoms in the hedgerows, but many cultural and natural attractions too!
Getting there: the main roads through Mid-Wales are the A470 and A483, if you’d prefer the train, there are stations in the following towns and villages: Welshpool, Newtown, Caersws, Machynlleth.
What to do: In Welshpool, you can visit Powys Castle; Newtown has the Oriel Davies Art Gallery; Machynlleth is the ancient capital of Wales and has the Parliament House of the rebel Prince Owain Glyndŵr#uk #wales #blossom #nature #flowers
Caernarfon, A Destination for Exploration
When visiting Caernarfon you are allowed to decide your own route for the most part whilst respecting land owners. In the hills of Caernarfon lays a secret infinite pool that allows hikers to have a relaxing cold soak after finishing a day trekking the hillside.
Further up the mountain range you can find natural pools of water that are a marvel to see and allows for more opportunities to swim especially in the summer and warmer months. When visiting Caernarfon I would recommend bringing a lunch and being stocked up on water however packing light is probably most advantageous. Would definitely recommend and suggest arriving around 12:00.

Crib Goch, Snowdonia’s Funnest Hike
Photos from my trip to Crib Goch in Snowdonia National Park, Wales. The Route up Crib Goch is medium to hard difficulty with a fun and at moments scary walk across the ridges at the top as you make your journey towards Mount Snowdon.
Definitely would advise going on a sunny day so you can have dry rocks and clear skies siding you along the way. One the decent down from Mount Snowdon I’d advise taking the route that leads you to the pool shown in the second photo. After a couple hours hike dipping into the pool is the perfect way to recovery as well as make a memory.
Ultimately the scenery you see whilst traversing Crib Goch is sensational and coupled with a sense of reward which really adds to any spectacular view.

Watkin Path in Snowdonia A Great Route Up!
When visiting Snowdonia National Park I would recommend taking the Watkin Path for an average difficult hike that has hard moments that reward you with scenic moments, the day I went it was very cloudy and the mystic that came with the clouds added to the experience allowing you to see the moment you reach above the clouds.
When you get to the top you’re met with Mount Snowdon which is the largest mountain in Wales and the United Kingdom, there is a shop located at the top as well as various routes down if you feel like a different route down to the bottom! When doing the Watkin Path the route is easily visible and towards the end has a scramble type section that is a lot of fun and a challenging final push towards the summit,
Would definitely recommend to any hikers or people visiting Snowdonia National Park

Caerphilly Castle
A fantastic day out at Europes 2nd largest castle. There are extensive grounds and ruins to explore, and a huge moat that you can walk around and enjoy on a sunny day .Inside the castle there are toilets, a picnic area and a gift shop but not much else. I understand that they're building a new cafe and eating area just inside the main gates .The leaning tower, which apparently leans further than the one in Pisa, is superb and make sure you get a picture where you're holding it up! #wales #castles #awesomepic #summervacation
The ruins of Montgomery Castle
Montgomery Castle ruins 🏰
Montgomery (Trefaldwyn), Powys, Wales, U.K.📍
There’s not much public transport in Montgomery, and the castle is on top of a steep hill - you’ll have to walk or drive to the castle from the town.
Situated high above the quaint historic town of Montgomery (Trefaldwyn in Welsh), is the ruins of Montgomery Castle.
It was built by Roger de Montgomery just after the Norman Invasion of England in 1066. The castle was demolished in the Civil War in the 1630s. The castle was an important site in the past - the designated meeting place between the Princes of Wales and the Kings of England!
While the castle is in a ruinous state, the views from it are spectacular! You can look into Wales and England from the historic castle walls.

Lovely Conwy!
Conwy is a historic town in North Wales!
Getting there- 🚂🚙 by train to Conwy station, or by driving via the coast road or by mountain road.
Make sure to visit the Smallest House in Great Britain, the castle - which was built by the English King Edward I and the statue of Llywelyn I - who is called Llywelyn the Great and is one of the most famous and respected leaders in the history of Wales!
Conwy is very walkable - which is a good thing if you come by car! This is because the streets are very narrow, and the historic town walls can make it difficult for wider cars to park in the town centre.
There are multiple bakeries, cafes, restaurants, and bars in Conwy, serving local seafood, and many other tasty Welsh treats! #wales #castle #uk #statue
Rugby Tour to Cardiff, Wales
Went on a Rugby Tour to watch Wales play Australia at the Principality Stadium. 55,000 spectators was something to experience!
Walking the city there was an incredible vibe wherever we went and the history was tangible all around us.

I will definitely go back! #2023TravelWish ##wales ##cardiff ##cardiff #rugby
Great place to walk
Cardiff Bay is a very walkable spot with lots of nice sights to see. It's easily reached via Cardiff Bay train station or a reasonable short walk from Cardiff City centre.
It's near the water so you get lots of fresh air and exercise and it's a very relaxing place to walk.
Some notable sights include The Norwegian Church, a beautiful white church where Roald Dahl went. The Pierhead building, a gorgeous red brick building. The Wales Millennium Centre, and the Welsh Government building.
These are all near each other and worh checking out. Lots of restaurants and cafes around too. It's a nice spot to walk

Beautiful Welsh Park
Lovely park to walk. I like the autumnal vibes here with the trees and foliage changing colours.
It's like something out of an oil painting.
This park is near the river so you can walk along it or enjoy the nature. It's not the biggest park but easy to casually walk around and soak up the fresh air. You'll likely see lots of dog walkers as it's pet friendly.
Lots of benches around to sit and chill out or just enjoy the park. Check out the war memorial statues and monuments too and take a moment to reflect. It's downtown so super easy to get to and it's well connected to the buses and trains.

Biggest castle in Wales
How often will you see a huge ruinous castle in the middle of a town? Well in Caerphilly you can. The largest castle in Wales this really does dominate the area and looms in the background.
It's a beautiful walk, you can see the original walls from all angles and the grassy area and moat provides. There will be lots of ducks and geese around too. It's around a 20 minute circumference walk around the walls and it's very enjoyable
The ruins themselves are very impressive. Huge thick stone walls, windows with slots in, drawbridge, flags. This really gives an idea of what life would have been like here in the past.
This is one of the premier attractions in South Wales and we are lucky to have it
