[Bukhara] My favorite madrasah [Uzbekistan]
There are many beautiful Islamic buildings in Uzbekistan, but I would like to introduce my favorite madrasah 😸
Nadir Divan Begi Madrasah
The mosaics here are so cute that anything you do will look great! (I think) lol
Islam is against idolatry, so it is rare to see animals depicted, but this is a very rare madrasah (theological school) that goes against the teachings of Islam, with two phoenixes, a deer, and a human face depicted 🤓✏️
Unfortunately, I couldn't go inside, probably because I went on a Friday 🥲
*In Islam, Friday is considered the day of collective prayer, so it is often a day off in Islamic countries.
Lyabi Khause Square, the pond in the center of the old town, just opposite the madrasah, is also lovely😍
There are terraces of restaurants around, so it looks like a great place to relax☺️

[Khiva] Walk along the Ichan Kala city walls! [Uzbekistan]
There are many things to see in Khiva, Uzbekistan 😻
You can see a certain number of sights with the common ticket (200,000 UZS) to enter Itchan Kala, but you can also go to even more wonderful places for an additional fee ♪
《Itchan Kala Walls》
The common ticket cannot be used for the walls, and there is a separate fee of 20,000 UZS (about 230 yen *rate as of November 2024)
There are gates to climb the walls on the north and south.
The first three photos are the north side, and the ones after that are the south side.
The view is a little different~😃
There are not many people who climb the walls, so I didn't meet many people 🚶
It's a hidden gem, so if you go to Khiva, please visit this place as well 🍀

[Khiva] The only blue dome [Uzbekistan]
Pahlavon Mahmud Mausoleum in Khiva, Uzbekistan
This is a mausoleum with a beautiful blue (to Japanese people it looks green lol) dome🍀
Blue domes, a symbol of Islamic architecture, are found in many places in Samarkand and Bukhara, but this is the only blue dome in Khiva🖕
This is said to be in honor of Pahlavon Mahmud🤓
The blue stood out against the bricks and was very beautiful💙

[Khiva] 2 recommended restaurants [Uzbekistan]
We will introduce some recommended restaurants in Khiva, Uzbekistan, with a wonderful view 🍴
1. Terrassa Cafe & Restaurant
A restaurant with a great location where you can see the minaret 🥰
The green noodle dish is "Shvit Osh". The noodles are made with herbs and are a traditional dish that can only be eaten in the Khorezm region 🌿
Moreover, it is a summer-only dish, so if you see it in Khiva, please try it 😉
This restaurant prepares the food at your table, and the performance is also great ♪ lol
100,000 UZS per person for food + drink (about 1,150 yen *rate as of November 2024)
I chose a terrace seat for the view, but the indoor seats downstairs were also cute!
*
2. Tea House Bir Gumbaz
This is also a location where you can see the minaret ❤️
This is outside on the first floor, so you can see the minaret from the side.
I ate barak (like boiled dumplings) for 550,000 UZS🥟
Food is not expensive in Uzbekistan, so you can go to a lot of different restaurants😸

[Khiva] The eternally unfinished minaret [Uzbekistan]
I would like to introduce you to a beautiful, eternally unfinished minaret in Khiva, Uzbekistan☺️
*Minarets are towers installed in mosques and madrasas (theological schools) in the Islamic world.
It is a place where the adhan is called to announce the time of prayer.
《Kalta Minor Minaret》
After the death of Muhammad Amin Khan, who ordered its construction, construction was halted and it has remained as it is.
It was originally planned to be three times as tall!
Although it is unfinished, this minaret covered with blue tiles is rare and you won't see it anywhere else🤓I liked this minaret, which can be said to be one of the symbols of Khiva♪
It was lit up at night, showing a different look🍀
There was a map of the castle next to it😸

[Bukhara] Walking around Ark Castle [Uzbekistan]
There are many things to see in Bukhara, Uzbekistan☺️
I'll introduce the area around Ark Castle♪
1.《Ark of Bukhara》
I didn't have time to go inside, but I was glad I could see the exterior😸
The wall surrounding the castle is unusual in that it looks like an upside-down sake cup🏰
2.《Bolo Hauz Mosque》 across from Ark Castle
It was also Friday prayer time, so I couldn't go inside🥲
It has a design called Kaminarimon, mixed with geometric and floral motifs, and is decorated in red, brown, and green, making it a little different from other mosques and wonderful❤️
Friday is the day of collective prayer in Islamic countries, so be careful of places that are closed⚠️
3.《Bukhara Tower》
A bit of a disappointment tower🗼lol
You can climb it, but it costs money!
The area around Ark Castle is about a 10-15 minute walk from the center of Bukhara 🚶➡️Let's take a walk 🎵

[Khiva] The minarets are beautiful [Uzbekistan]
Khiva, Uzbekistan is a fun city to walk around💕✨
In the center of the city is the Islom Ho'ja Madrasasi and its adjacent minaret.
The minaret is the tallest building in Khiva, a 45-meter-tall spire🍀, which you can climb for an additional 100,000 UZS.
When the sun comes out, souvenir shops line up in front of the tourist spots, but they are cute with Uzbek embroidered cloth suzani and other local items🥰
*The photo without souvenirs lined up was taken around 7:30 in the morning.
It is lit up at night, which is also nice✨
At night, there were seats for restaurants next to it, and there was a band♪

The recommended point is the beauty of the exterior!
Magnificent!
I went first thing in the morning (around 7:30) and in the afternoon, and the way the photos came out was completely different depending on the sunlight.
It was good that there were no people in the morning, so it was easy to take photos😃

[Khiva] Palace-like hotel [Uzbekistan]
I'd like to share the hotel I stayed at when I went to Khiva, Uzbekistan, because it was so nice 🎵
《Shaherezada Boutique Hotel》
The lobby and other places were decorated like a palace, which was lovely 😸
The rooms and bathrooms were simple and clean 🛁 I was happy to see that there was a bathtub 😆
Breakfast was buffet style with a wide variety 🥖
The tableware was cute, so whatever you put on it looked good 😻
There were also a lot of sweet breads, and I ate too much! lol
I heard that there is no ride-hailing app in Khiva, so when I went back to the train station, the hotel staff gave me a ride 🚗 (additional charge: 30,000 UZS)

[Khiva] A hidden observation spot [Uzbekistan]

《AK shikh bobo tower》
A spot with a spectacular view of Khiva💚
Speaking of Khiva! Two minarets🗼
You can see them beautifully and take photos with them📷️
To enter here, you need 100,000 UZS in addition to the common ticket for Ichan Kala (about 1,170 yen / rate as of October 2024)
This is a hidden spot that is not even on Google Maps, so I wandered around a bit wondering if it was here? Is it here?🚶
The entrance is next to Kun-na-ark.
You can enter as many times as you like with a one-day ticket, so I went there during the day and at sunset♪
The magic hour was popular and crowded.
It was nice to be able to see not only the minarets but also the city walls🥰

[Uzbekistan] The world of Attack on Titan! Khiva, a World Heritage Site where the entire city is fortified
Khiva is a desert city located in western Uzbekistan.
The old town, Ichan Kala, is surrounded by high walls and is registered as a World Heritage site as a fortress city.
It is also popular among some fans as a sacred place, as its appearance resembles the worldview of the popular manga "Attack on Titan"!
The desert city, unified in earth colors, is truly beautiful and a truly spectacular sight!
The cityscape dyed crimson by the sunset is particularly breathtaking.
The top of the fortress is a walking path, and you can wander around freely.
The evening view from the fortress is said to be the most beautiful, so I climbed up to the observation deck and took a picture!
Khiva is located in the Xorazm region, western Uzbekistan. Itchan-Qala (Kala) in Khiva was the first site in Uzbekistan to be designated as the UNESCO world heritage site, surrounded by high walls like a fort.
The sunset in Itchan-Qala is the best view of Khiva according to local people, so I climbed up to the Lookout for taking photos.

[Bukhara] Beautiful Islamic architecture [Uzbekistan]
I'm sure you're all familiar with the term "mosque," but perhaps you're not familiar with the term "medrassa."
I had no idea what it was until I went to Uzbekistan.
A madrasah is a seminary that provides higher education in theology, law, and other subjects in the Islamic world. 🧐
There are many such beautiful seminaries in Uzbekistan. 🇺🇿
Two of them are in Bukhara: Abdulaziz Khan Madrasah and Ulugbek Madrasasi. 🍀
These two are built facing each other. ♪
Islamic architecture in Bukhara often uses blue and white colors, but Abdulaziz Khan Madrasah uses warm colors, which makes it a little different. ❤️
It's really beautiful...!
We went around 8 o'clock before it got crowded with tourists, so neither was open, and it's unclear whether you can enter normally. 🙏
There's probably a local cat in front of the entrance. There were a few cats that were fed and they were so cute 😻

I stayed overnight in Khiva, Uzbekistan. The city is small enough that you can get around in a day, but it has a lot of history and things to see. At night, the streets and the city walls are lit up, and the security situation is not bad. So you can enjoy sightseeing at your leisure at night. The restaurants are not too expensive either, and I was able to talk to the locals, which made for a very enjoyable experience. It seems that you can go on to Turkmenistan and other places from here, so please enjoy those places as well.

Khiva is located in the western part of Uzbekistan. It was like a world of Arabian Nights that I read as a child!
English is spoken in hotels and tourist spots, but compared to Samarkand, there are some places where it is not spoken, so it is useful to have Google Translate when interacting with locals.
[Access] You can also get there by plane, but since I was there, I took the night train from Bukhara. The lower sections of the night train fill up early, so I recommend making reservations early!

Khiva, a World Heritage city in Uzbekistan
Although it's hard to get to, Khiva is a must-see town in Uzbekistan, with the entire town designated a World Heritage Site.
You can also get there by taking a late-night train from Tashkent.
The old town is surrounded by a wall and isn't that large.
As you enter, you'll be greeted by a vibrant blue minaret.
There were many stalls and other things in the old town.
There are also various other Islamic architectural heritage sites, such as Juma Mosque, Khoja Madrasah, Kunyaalk, and Tashhauli Palace.

Chorsu Bazaar in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, is a treasure trove of cute things!
In the capital, Tashkent, there is a large bazaar called Chorsu Bazaar.
It is easy to access by bus from the city.
It is a place where local people come to do their daily shopping, so it is full of local atmosphere.
I went to choose plates, which was my purpose before going.
The colorful plates with geometric patterns and pomegranate motifs are very cute.
It is so beautiful that I want them all.
The food looks photogenic too.
You can also purchase "Suzani", a traditional Uzbek craft, here.
It is so large that you can enjoy it for half a day.

1000km journey on sleeper train in Uzbekistan
I took a first-class seat on a sleeper train from Tashkent to Khiva in Uzbekistan. It was a 14-hour journey covering about 1,000 km.
We departed on time and arrived a little later than expected.
It was a long journey, but the time passed faster than I expected and I was able to enjoy the view outside. There were tea bags in the cabin, but no cups, so you had to bring your own 😁
The staff were frequently selling piroshki, so it was easy to eat and drink on the train. There was also a dining car.
It's faster to take a plane, but I also recommend the sleeper train, which arrives while you sleep 💗
