FUTURISTIC SHOPPING HAVEN
Galaxy SOHO in Beijing is unlike any shopping center I’ve seen—it’s a futuristic architectural marvel that feels like you’re walking through a sci-fi movie! Designed by Zaha Hadid, the sweeping curves and open atriums make this place a shopping and design lover’s dream.
Inside, the vibe is sleek and modern, with a mix of high-end stores, unique boutiques, and trendy cafes. I wandered through the smooth, flowing pathways, finding cool shops at every turn. The food scene here is great too, with options ranging from gourmet coffee to authentic Beijing snacks, perfect for a quick break between shopping sprees.
Galaxy SOHO is more than just a shopping center—it’s an experience. If you’re in Beijing and looking to shop, eat, or just take in some amazing architecture, this is a spot you won’t want to miss!

The Forbidden City - you can’t skip it
The Forbidden City in Beijing is one of those places that you can’t help but visit. Walking through its massive gates, you’re surrounded by towering red walls and golden rooftops, and it’s hard to imagine this was once the center of imperial China for almost 500 years. With nearly 1,000 buildings spread across 180 acres, it’s huge—you could spend half a day here and still not see it all.
If you’re planning a visit, try to go in spring or autumn. Beijing summers are scorching, and the stone courtyards reflect all that heat, plus there are no trees to provide shadow in the courtyard. April, May, September, and October offer cooler weather and a more comfortable experience.
Most people stick to the main attractions, like the Hall of Supreme Harmony, but if you explore a bit further, you’ll find some quieter spots. The Palace of Tranquil Longevity in the northeastern corner is one of them. It was meant as a retirement home for Emperor Qianlong, though he never moved in. The gardens there are peaceful, with far fewer people.
Another hidden gem is the Treasure Gallery, where you can check out incredible jade carvings and other imperial treasures. It’s a glimpse into the extravagance of the emperors’ lives. When you’re done exploring, head over to Jingshan Park, just outside the Forbidden City. If you climb to the top of the hill, you’ll be rewarded with a stunning panoramic view of the entire palace complex, especially beautiful at sunset.
Note: don’t forget to bring your passport when you go—it’s required to buy tickets. You can also bring your own water and snacks inside, it’s allowed.

Catching sunset at the Temple of Heaven
The Temple of Heaven is one of Beijing’s top attractions, famous for its stunning architecture and cultural significance. It’s not just about the temple—locals love to dress up in traditional costumes here, making it a great spot for some unique photos. Plus, the spacious garden is perfect for a peaceful walk, with plenty of shaded areas to relax.
The closest metro station is Tiantandongmen (Line 5), and the complex is open daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, though the main temple area typically closes by 5:30 PM.
With an entrance fee of ¥34 (temple + garden), it’s an affordable way to dive into Beijing’s history and enjoy a tranquil escape from the busy city. Reduced rates are available for kids, students, and seniors. Definitely worth a visit for a blend of culture, nature, and local life.#historicallandmarks #beijingtrip #templeofheaven

Shichahai District is a historical district in Beijing known for its natural lakes, traditional narrow streets and lively atmosphere. It consists of three interconnected lakes, Qianhai, Houhai and Xihai. Here you can stroll around the lakes, enjoy the area's vibrant nightlife and try traditional Chinese food.
My favorites were the beef noodles with soy sauce and the cold fruit tea

The Temple of Heaven in Beijing is an architectural marvel and a profound cultural landmark that captivates visitors with its grandeur and historical significance. Built in the early 15th century during the Ming Dynasty, this UNESCO World Heritage Site was once the site of annual ceremonies where emperors prayed for good harvests and the favor of Heaven.
The complex is renowned for its stunning structures, including the iconic Hall of Paryer for Good Harvests, an exquisite triple-gables circular building with a beautifully decorated blue-tiled roof. The symmetry and intricate design reflect ancient Chinese cosmology and architectural mastery. Visitors and also explore the Circular Mound Altar and the Imperial Vault of Heaven, both of which play a significant role in the temple historical rituals.
The surrounding park, with its sprawling grounds, is equally impressive. It offers a serene environment for leisurely strolls, where visitors can see locals practising Tai Chi, flying kites, or simply enjoying the peaceful surroundings.
The Temple of Heaven is more than just a historical site, it's a living piece of Beijing's cultural heritage, offering a glimpse into the spiritual practices of ancient China and a tranquil escape from the city's hustle.

Mutianyu Great Wall
The Mutianyu section of the Great Wall is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience one of the new seven workers of the world.
I recommend you to go there early in the morning to avoid crowds. We went there around 8 am and it wasn’t busy at all. However, on our way out around 12 am there was a long queue with many people waiting.
Mutianyu offers a very peaceful and pleasant experience. The architecture is well-preserved and it is surrounded by greenery. Definitely the panoramic views are breathtaking.
Highly recommend it!

Bejing Parks: Irresistible Magic!
#beijingtrip
Chinese parks are one of the most wonderful and wonderful wonders of the Celestial Empire. Places of strength and tranquility. Fancy paths paved with tiles wind, willows lean along the shores of lakes covered with silt and duckweed, in which lotuses bloom and bright goldfish swim – paintings from Chinese painting that you have seen before only in albums. Carved bridges and stone lions stand across the connecting lakes and rivers, and shady cozy gazebos on the hills.
However, the Chinese park is nothing without its inhabitants. What is happening here is amazing and unique in its kind. Life is in full swing, but very harmoniously: kites are flown in gazebos, shuttlecocks are played on lawns, various practices are done on lawns among trees, in the evening they dance tango or dance with swords and fans.
Beijing's parks and gardens are entire open-air museums that occupy an important place in the history and culture of China. Here you can touch the past, admiring the pavilions, temples and painted galleries, stroll along the paths that keep traces of representatives of aristocratic families, enjoy the surrounding beauty and relax from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Common features characteristic of the landscape art of the Chinese capital: poetic names, bridges, reservoirs occupying up to 70% of the territory, bright gazebos, balustrades, alleys, curly wall openings, decorative fences, paved paths with images of animals and birds, mosaics, trees of bizarre shapes.
The park ensembles of the Celestial Empire are famous for their wonderful floral decoration, which contains roses of various varieties and colors, camellias, rhododendrons, azaleas. The assortment of flora is maddening: Chinese oaks, 500-year-old cypresses, junipers, chestnuts, maples, willows. Sculptures in Chinese gardens are rare, with the exception of theme parks - Olympic Park, Stalin Park, Pioneer Park, Red Army Park, etc. More often, natural stones act as sculptures. The architectural core of Beijing's parks and gardens are palace buildings.
Hutong: Beijing Trapping Charm
#beijingtrip
Walking in Beijing through the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace or the Temple of Heaven, you can get an idea of the life of the imperial family, although it is very difficult to understand it the first time. To understand the life of ordinary people a little, not only in the past, but also in the present, you can only see the Beijing hutongs.
Hutongs are streets that exist only in Beijing. The final opinion on the origin of the word "hutun" has not yet been reached, but it is assumed that it came from the Mongolian "hot" — "well" and "hudu" or "hudun" — "camp" or "village", since before the well was a settlement around it. Later, the word began to be applied to small streets. The people who founded the Jin Dynasty, capturing Beijing in 1127 and making it their capital, began to call the small streets Hutuns in Beijing.
Old street areas occupy one third of Beijing's residential neighborhoods, where residents continue to lead an old lifestyle. But with the development of Beijing, a large number of hutongs began to be demolished to make way for the construction of modern buildings. Without Hutongs, the local Beijing culture and traditional way of life is disappearing, so the city government has established several protected areas to preserve the original local foundations and traditions.
Shichahai was incorporated into the capital during the Yuan Dynasty, so there are about 40 cultural and historical monuments of the urban and national level. Many mansions of princes and residences of historical celebrities were built here.
The easiest way to visit the Hutong area of Shichahai is to combine it with a walk through Beihai Park, but if you have time, it's worth spending a whole day on Shichahai. The streets are especially picturesque in the evening, when the coastal cafes and restaurants are open. In fact there is great number of Hutongs around Beijing city center, that requires several days for complete exploration.
The Arcs of Past Miracle
#beijingtrip
Yuanmingyuan Park, built in 1709, also known as the Old Summer Palace, is located in Beijing's Haidian District, 20 kilometers northwest of Tiananmen Square and 5 kilometers northeast of the new Summer Palace. In the period from 1709 to 1860, the 350-hectare complex, which is 5 times the size of the Forbidden City, was a summer resort for the emperors of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), and was destroyed in 1860.
Despite the extensive damage, the ruins of the old Summer Palace remain open to the public and are an important tourist attraction in Beijing, where visitors can experience the former greatness of this place. There is also an exhibition hall (圆明时时时全), where the complete layout of Yuanmingyuan Park in its heyday is presented.
The complex consists of three gardens: Yuanming Garden, Qichun Garden and Changchun Garden. Yuanming is the largest garden of the entire complex, and Qichun is the smallest, where the emperor's concubines used to live. In the Changchun Garden, there is the Xianglou Zone, where the best preserved ruins of Western-style structures are located. The central element of this part of the park were several hydraulic structures (fountains and pools) designed by the French scientist Michel Benoit (1715-1774), who was in the service of the Qing Emperor Qianlong (1711-1799), around which there were buildings in the Italian Baroque style, designed by the Italian courtier Giuseppe Castiglione. Like the rest of the old Summer Palace, the Siyanlou area was destroyed in a fire set by Anglo-French allied forces in 1860. However, the remaining parts of many structures can still be seen here, since the masonry was not destroyed by fire, and additional restoration work was also carried out in 1977-1992.
The most convenient way to get to the park is by metro or taxi. 50 meters from the south gate No. 2 is the subway station YUANMINGYUAN Park Station (圆明)) of line No. 4 (exit B). Those who take a taxi need to show the driver the inscription "请带我到圆明明公公", which means "please take me to Yuanmingyuan Park. It will take about 40 minutes to drive from the center of Beijing.
Beijing Most Mysterious Temple
#beijingtrip
The construction of the Yonghegong Temple began in 1694 under the Kangxi Emperor of the Qing Dynasty. Initially, rooms were built here for the residence of the imperial eunuchs. Then a residence was built on this site for the son of the Kangxi Emperor, Yongzheng. After Yongzheng ascended the throne in 1722, half of his residence was converted into a Lamaist monastery, while the other became the imperial palace. The new emperor began to rule under the motto Yongzheng - Harmony and Justice, and the name Yonghegong was assigned to the palace, which, on the one hand, means the Palace of Peace and Harmony, and on the other hand, can be interpreted as the Palace of Yun, Who Became Emperor.
After Yongzhen's death in 1735, his coffin was placed in the Yonghegong Temple. Since then, all subsequent Chinese emperors began to hold a ceremony of commemoration of their ancestors in the temple once a year.
And to this day, people order services in this temple to commemorate their dead. Also, young people here pray for admission to educational institutions, for health, for well-being, etc.
There are a lot of statues and sandalwood products in the temple. And there are posters on the walls telling the story of the temple and the emperors of China.
It should be noted that Yonghegong has an extraordinary atmosphere of calm and tranquility, despite the fact that the bustling life of Beijing, a megalopolis, is boiling outside its walls.
The building has a rather rich and bright architecture. The whole complex consists of five separate rooms:
"Tian Wang Dan" or "Hall of Heavenly Kings";
"Yonghegong" or "Hall of Harmony and Peace";
"Yunyudian" or "Hall of Eternal Protection";
"Falun dyan" or "Dharmachakra Hall";
"Wanfuge" or "10,000 Luck Pavilion".
How to get to Yonghegong Temple:
The temple is located next to the Yonghegong Metro station, in addition, buses and other public transport run here. Geographically, the temple is located in Beijing's Dongcheng district, near the northeast corner of the second ring road.
Beihai Park, Tranquility and Impression
#beijingtrip
Beihai Park is located in the historical part of Beijing northwest of the Forbidden City and is one of the most popular parks in the city. The total area of the complex is about 71 hectares, more than half of which is the lake of the same name. In the south, the park is adjacent to the Zhongnanhai man-made lakes area (中南海), in the north it borders the Shichahai district (什刹海), and in the east it rests on the artificial Jingshan Hill (景山山).
This vast territory has a history of over 1,000 years and is the oldest imperial garden in the world. Originally laid out in 938 during the Liao Dynasty (916-1125), the complex was repaired and rebuilt during subsequent dynasties. The vast majority of the buildings that can be seen today were built during the reign of the Qing (1644-1911) Qianlong Emperor. The complex was opened to ordinary visitors in 1925.
Beihai Park is beautiful at any time of the year. In winter, it becomes one of the largest ice rinks in Beijing, and in summer it is a popular place to relax from the hustle and bustle of the city and the heat. In spring, the park is immersed in a sea of flowers, and in autumn it gives Beijing residents and visitors beautiful landscapes decorated with golden trees and blue sky. As for the time of day, morning is the best time to visit the park. There is a special relaxing atmosphere here. You will see how the locals do morning exercises, sing, dance and write hieroglyphs with large brushes on the ground.
The park is located in the historical center of Beijing, so those who stay near the Forbidden City can walk to the place. It is only 700 meters from the northern gate of the Forbidden City to the southern entrance to Beihai Park. Those who do not live in the very center can get there by metro or taxi. The nearest metro station is Beihai Bei (North) Station on Line 6 (Exit D). If you take a taxi, ask the driver to take you to the hotel.

Exploring the Great Wall of China at Mutianyu 🇨🇳
After 3 years of living in China, I finally made it to the Great Walk of China! 🇨🇳
🎫 I booked a tour which provided the ticket and transport from Beijing, about a 2 hour bus ride.
📅 I visited in March, the weather was not too hot or cold and the crowds were low.
🚠 I chose to take the cable car up to tower 14. You can also hike up or even choose to slide back down the hill!
⛰️ The highest point you can walk to on the Mutianyu Great Wall is tower 23. It takes about 1.5 hours to walk there from tower 14.
📸 For the best photos, I definitely recommend hiking up to tower 23. It gets quite steep towards the end, but it worth it for the beautiful view!
🥢 At the entrance, you can find many souvenir shops and restaurants.
🌟 Overall, I had an amazing time here. The group trip was the perfect way for me to visit the Great Wall of China and it was an incredible day hiking and seeing the beautiful views!

A Sunny Spring Morning at Temple of Heaven 🇨🇳
Located downtown in Beijing, China, Temple of Heaven is a really beautiful and unique place to visit! I went here in March, on a beautiful sunny day ~ it was off peak season but there were still large crowds of people.
🚇 Transport: Take Line 5 to Tiantan East Gate Station (exit A) or Line 8 to Tianqiao Station (exit C).
The quickest route in is from the East side. Upon entering the park, it felt so authentically Chinese. There were aunties dancing, playing sports and uncles playing mahjong. I found myself stopping to watch all of these activities and how peaceful the surroundings were. There is a brilliant photo opportunity down the pine and cypress tree path, with Temple of Heaven in the distance at the end.
🎫 Buy tickets online in advance or scan the QR code. Tickets are relatively cheap, only 15rmb in peak season or 10rmb during off peak times.
Once I had my ticket and got into the actual Hall of Prayer area, it was much busier. There are so many people but it’s still possible to take good photos. I recommend going to the North side, near the old North gate, where there are less people gathering. Here you can take photos with less crowds in the background. 📸
Overall, I really enjoyed my time at Temple of Heaven and the surrounding park. It’s a lovely place to slow down and enjoy the culture of Beijing 🇨🇳☀️

Fun Day at Universal Beijing Resort in China 🇨🇳
Here are some of my tips to ensure you have the best day at Universal Studios Beijing! 🌟
🪄 Wizarding World of Harry Potter ~ this area can get very busy. There are many photo opportunities outside Hogwarts and other shops throughout Hogsmeade. I love seeing everyone buying wands and wearing their wizard outfits! My favourite attraction here is Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey.
🤖 Transformers Metrobase ~ I love walking around this futuristic city and seeing the transformers! There is a huge high speed rollercoaster, Decepticoaster, that is amazing! It is similar to The Hulk in other Universal Studios parks.
🐼 Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness ~ this land is entirely inside so it’s a great place to go if it’s raining. There are many family friendly rides in here, and don’t miss out on Kung Fu Panda Journey of the Dragon Warrior!
📸 There are so many photo spots around the park. Some of my favourites include the big Universal globe outside the park and Mel’s Drive-In with all of the classic cars outside. There are also many opportunities to meet characters. Download the official Universal Studios Beijing app to check the times and locations of character meet and greets.

❤️VENICE IN AUTUMN
#helloautumn
Advantages of Visiting Venice in Autumn
There are actually a lot of advantages to visiting Venice in the autumn.
For one, prices are cheap, including hotel rates and airfares.
Second, there are lesser tourist crowds, so sightseeing is easier.
Third, the heat that summer usually brings is gloriously absent. Consider the occasional frolic in the water (with boots, of course) a one-of-a-kind experience that cannot be experienced in other destinations.
Also, it makes for a good travel story afterward (like how we were almost talked into buying those pricey boots). Besides, high tides occur only until mid-morning and late at night.

BRASOV
Explore The City Of Brașov
Brașov is often known as the gateway into Transylvania and is located about 166 km (103 miles) from the capital of Bucharest
It’s one of the most visited cities in Romania and that's due to its picturesque location, beautiful architecture and relaxing atmosphere.
Some of the most popular places to visit in Brașov include the Piața Sfatului (the council square), the Biserica Negara and Catherine's Tower.
Make sure you also wander down Strada Republicii which is the city's lively main street.
However, one of the most popular things to do is to take the cable car or hike up to Mount Tâmpa.
The most famous hiking route up is the ‘the Knight's Road’ which dates back to the days of the citadel making it the oldest route to the summit.
Not only is there a Hollywood-like ‘BRASOV’ sign at the top, but Mount Tâmpa is also home to golden eagles, grey wolves, brown bears and Eurasian

A cultural heritage second to none!
Seeing and walking the 'Great Wall' is a must have being in China. With a total length of around 21k km its an outstanding construction. In this place you can walk a while after a cable car brings you to the top of a mountain. There are fantastic views both sides over the hills and mountains. We were lucky with almost nobody around us, however check the numbers of visitors upfront, as it can be extremely packed. At night the wall is being illuminated with gives a very special impression. Don't miss to go there when around!

Ming Dynasty Tombs
Located about fifty kilometers northwest of Beijing at the foothill of mountain was impressive Mausoleum where 13 Ming dynasty Emperors & Empress were buried. At the side of the road leading to tomb were stone animals & warriors. Entrance of tomb was red painted building as that of forbidden city. A huge stone gate led to the site of burial at slope of mountain. There was a hall displaying Emperors & Empress robes, ornaments etc. A good place to visit while in Beijing.
