Lake Tahoe is located on the plain of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. The lake area is approximately 2,200 square kilometers (60 km long and 45 km wide). With such a large-scale size, Taihu has a maximum average depth of only two meters, while being the third largest freshwater reservoir along with Poyanghu and Dongting. The nearest cities are Wuxi, Suzhou, Yixing and Jiaxing. The shores are well maintained, everything is very clean and well maintained. There are mountain slopes around the lake, large park areas. In the center of the lake is Dongting Island, the birthplace of the famous Chinese tea Bi Lo Chun, which translates as "emerald spirals of spring". The territory of the island is open to tourists and everyone can visit the extensive plantations, communicate with the local population and learn the specifics of processing tea leaves. You can get to the island using the bridge crossing the Taihu.
Previously, in very ancient times, the current Taihu was a sea, but the waters dried up, turning into the third largest freshwater lake in China. How did this form form? Presumably, 70 million years ago, a meteorite fell. The rocks of asteroid origin in the lake serve as a confirmation of this.
Taihu has served and continues to serve as an important fishing center for the local population. About 30 cities take drinking water from Taihu.
The temperature in the lake warms up to 31 degrees in summer, and drops to at least 5 degrees in winter. Such climatic conditions have a beneficial effect on the development of the fishing industry. Most residents of small villages near the lake work in this area. Separately, it is worth noting that hydrology experts have recorded more than 90 islands on the lake, which indicates the ancient origin of the Taihu.
The walk around the lake and its surroundings was very impressive.
