Hongshiya is located 30 km north of the university town in Zhuozi County, Ulanqab City, Inner Mongolia. You can drive from Hohhot along County Road 103. It's truly stunning and definitely worth a visit! 😍 🚗【Transportation】 To have more freedom, we chose to rent a car and drive ourselves. Renting a car seems to cost around 300 per day. Navigate to Hongshiya National Ecological Park. After entering the mountains, there might be no signal, but don't worry. There are three forks in the road; take the right at the first and second forks, and the left at the third fork. There are road signs to guide you, so you won't get lost. There is a section without signal, but there are cars all along the way, just follow the crowd. The scenic area has only one-way roads, so once you enter, you can't turn back. You can stop and take photos along the way; the scenery is stunning and very photogenic! The houses in the scenic area belong to the herdsmen. Make sure to use the restroom before entering the scenic area, as the next restroom is at Tianzi Grassland, which is a bit of a distance. Also, there are no gas stations inside the scenic area, so make sure to fill up your tank before entering. The highland grasslands consume fuel quickly. 💪 📷【Photography】 1. Outside Hongshiya Scenic Area: About 5km from the scenic area, there is a free small dirt hill where you can take beautiful photos embracing the sky. Stop wherever you like. If you want to watch the sunset, find an open spot inside the scenic area and wait. Shengshuiliang, a secret place surrounded by green mountains, makes people feel relaxed and happy. Today, I am taking everyone to explore this mysterious place, known by the locals as "Hohhot's Altay"—Shengshuiliang. It is surrounded by green mountains, with beautiful scenery along the way. On the mountain, there are cattle, sheep, horses, and camels, making it a great spot for photography. Although the sky is overcast and rainy today, without the contrast of blue skies and white clouds, the scenery has a unique charm. The azure sky hides the taste of early autumn in nature, and the vast view makes one feel as if they are in a painting, experiencing the gifts of nature. Shengshuiliang not only has beautiful scenery but also a pleasant climate. The air on the mountaintop grassland is fresh, and the vegetation in the scenic area is dense. Traveling in Inner Mongolia, starting from Hohhot, it takes about an hour and a half to reach a sunflower field located outside the Hongshiya National Ecological Park in Zhuozi County, Ulanqab City, deep in the Daqing Mountains. Unlike the 'sea of sunflowers' I saw last month in Altay, Xinjiang, and just last week in Kazakhstan, the vast and flat sunflower fields here look like they were leveled with a spirit level during the early growth stage. Friends who are traveling or driving here recently should not miss it~ Of course, the Hongshiya Scenic Area, which charges 60 yuan per person and does not charge vehicle fees, is also worth a visit in my opinion. Especially the Hongshiya Temple, which looks stunning from a distance, with its architecture set against the blue sky, white clouds, and green grass, making it unforgettable. Note: The entire scenic area and the route to Hongshiya are very clean. There is no 'dirty, messy, and poor' situation like in some volcanic scenic areas. Here, the magic of nature is fully unleashed, inspiring awe and joy in equal measure. 🌱 Mid-July is the most beautiful time for the grasslands. The tender green grass stretches endlessly, like a green velvet blanket laid beneath my feet. Flocks of sheep wander the grassland, resembling flowing white clouds, adding vitality and life to the tranquil prairie. Seeing such a scene, a strong urge wells up inside me to run freely across the grassland, to feel the liberty and exhilaration. 🛖 Staying in a Mongolian-style garden, I was immersed in the rich grassland culture. The yurts are well-equipped and cozy. Here, I can get up close with the sheep, experience the joy of horse riding, and even participate in a bonfire party, feeling the warmth and boldness of the grassland people. As night falls, pink clouds appear in the sky, as if nature has prepared a surprise for us. The clouds are so low, it seems as if I could reach out and touch them, giving me an unprecedented sense of shock and emotion. 🌌 If the sky is clear, you can also see the dazzling Milky Way. Although I regret not seeing the Milky Way this time, just appreciating the sunset and the stars on the grassland is enough to fill me with contentment. The closest grassland to Hohhot is Redstone Cliff, which is just an hour's drive from the city. The journey is filled with beautiful scenery, so it doesn't feel long at all!! Along the way, there's a large sunflower field, which is super cute. The grass is still very green this month, and the curves on the road are perfect for taking amazing photos, it really looks like a little Switzerland. To capture the photos on p4p5, you have to climb up the big hill, which is located between Bashang and Hongshaba on the map. The entrance fee for the Redstone Cliff scenic area is 60 yuan, and after entering, you drive all the way to Tianci Grassland. Along the way, you'll see lots of little calves and ponies, and even witnessed a family of calves crossing the road looking at motorcycles, haha, so cute!! Inside the scenic area, there are horse and camel rides available. According to local friends, taking a short ride is quite expensive, so it's okay not to ride, especially since I'm quite scared of horseback riding anyway Small tips - Be sure to bring a jacket, it's incredibly cold on the mountain, I almost froze to death - When going to the grassland, it's better to wear long pants. The sunflower field is really beautiful, and if you wear shorts, you won't be able to go down to take photos because the grass is very prickly A few thoughts I really advise those who have been living in the city for a long time, especially in a competitive place like Beijing, to call up friends and go to the grassland. I originally planned to visit the Huitengxile Grassland, but I heard it was crowded, so I found the Hongshiya scenic area which is closer. 🚙 Driving from Hohhot to the Hongshiya scenic area, the journey is over 60 kilometers, and once you leave the urban area, it's mostly mountain roads. Following the navigation, you can reach the entrance of the scenic area within two hours, where you need to buy a ticket 🎫, 60 yuan per person. The scenery gets better as you approach the scenic area, and there are places to stop and gaze into the distance along the way. It's best to drive an SUV or a mid-to-large size car. ⛰️ July and August are the most beautiful months for the grasslands. The innermost part of the Hongshiya scenic area is called Tianci Grassland, which is a high mountain pasture. This area is still relatively less visited by tourists, with lush grass and sheep and cattle scattered everywhere, offering stunning views! You can see the endless grasslands, rolling hills, and flat grassland roads. 📸 Here you can ride horses and camels, and it's recommended to wear white or light-colored clothes for better photos.
